In the Disney Pixar movie "Finding Nemo", the journey of a Father trying to find his son shows how the Hero's Journey is still Circulating through culture, as described by Joseph Campbell.
The hero’s journey is a very key and notable process in movies. A good example of the process executed well is in the movie Finding Nemo. The hero’s journey has many parts, but 3 parts are really shown and executed well in the movie. These three parts in the movie that are well executed and can show the hero’s journey. The three parts are the refusal to call, tests, allies, and enemies, and the road back(flight)Through the journey of Finding Nemo Marlin goes from an overprotective father to bonding with is son. In Finding Nemo those 3 parts really show the journey of the
Campbell’s hero's journey is a process which many stories follow. The movie Finding Nemo demonstrates Campbell’s hero’s journey in many ways. One of the main characters is Marlin, Nemo’s dad. With the following examples Campbell’s hero’s journey directs Finding Nemo.
Finding Nemo uses character archetypes to help advance the understanding of the movie by providing the audience with a better and deeper understanding of the characters. Finding Nemo has three main and crucial characters they are Marlin our hero, Dory the mentor, and Nemo the damsel in distress. Marlin is a clownfish who had a very traumatic event happen to him, that prompts his quest and journey. Marlin and his wife Coral had just become parents after finding a home for their eggs. Unfortunately the family was faced with a barracuda attack in which Coral and all but one of the eggs died. Marlin his one surviving egg Nemo live a cautious life never wanting to leave the reef and enter the open ocean. One day Nemo swims out to touch the “butt” of a boat in the open ocean. He is later captured by a scuba diver making Nemo become our damsel in distress. A damsel in distress in a vulnerable person who needs the hero to save. Even though Nemo is a not a women he fits the description perfectly. On the other hand we have Dory. Dory
For this assignment I chose the short film Tin Toy which is a story about toys and the fear of a baby a lot bigger than them. The main character of this short film is a little musical marching band toy sold with the box name of “Tin Toy.” The toy was introduced at the beginning of the film where he was doing his own thing to come across a baby who is giant compared to him. Tin Toy represents someone who can be scared of someone who is very largely compared to him but is not as controlled and represents a threat to the main character the tin toy.
In this movie, Marlin, Nemo’s father, is faced with an unfortunate situation: the abduction of his son. While on a field trip, Nemo and his friends wander off on their own towards an anchored boat. Meanwhile, they start to dare each other to touch this boat. Although Nemo is warned by his father, he did not stop. Suddenly, a diver appears; he traps
Disney movies are really well known for teaching kids valuable life lessons in a way that they could understand. Finding Nemo teaches the importance of family and how to face your fears for those that you love. The movie focuses on two fish, Marlin and Dory trying to find Marlins lost son Nemo after fishermen took him. Since Nemo is the only family Marlin has he is very protective over him, and before he was born he grabbed on to, what was only just an egg at the time and said, “I will never let anything happen to you”. Marlins biggest fear is loosing the only person he has left, and once he does, something like coming face to face with a shark
It’s not a what, it’s a who. That who is my niece Autumn, that little bugger is obsessed with those massive monsters. Always reading about them, learning more and more. So, she’s really the one who brought it up to me, the book, the thought of it being real.
In May 2005 fans criticized Cameron for his movie, rating as the worst movie of his directorial. Moreover, his other rumors were the ratings among all the movies of his directorial from the worst to best.
When watching "Waterboy" starring Adam Sandler as Bobby Boucher Jr. you can assume its a comedy. "Waterboy is a movie about a high school with all the normal expectations people have about the sports and students except the fact that the water boy at the football games is in his 30s. The football players have their jokes with Bobby and their pranks but what they don 't know is, is that Bobby has major built up anger that will soon help him be a more talented player on the team than any of them. The dumb guy everyone always thought he was ended up being able to plan the most genius attacks on the other team and go through with it to win multiple games. The whole twist ofd the story is how he grew up to be where he is now. His mom raised him in a way most parenta don 't raise their kids, he grew up believeing everything she said instead of learning what was really right. Life hit him really hard through the days reality started kicking in.
Every children’s movies come with a memorable quote whether it’s funny or relatable. This could be intentional of the writers from Pixar to Disney. I used the above quote because this quote makes you think. The Lion King came out in 1994 and was one of my favorite movies but I didn’t connect it to my life until I got older. I believe the writers make their movies have a deeper meaning for the purpose of giving adult watchers something to take away from movies geared towards their children. As a young adult, I have learned to appreciate the little lessons from movies e.g. Finding Dory, Inside Out, and Cinderella. Each lesson they teach can be taken in the simplest way possible and even on the deepest way possible. I feel as though the five best children’s movies are Monster’s Inc., Princess and the frog, Toy Story, Frozen and UP.
From the movie choice given, I have choose The Shawshank Redemption. This movie is a 1994 America film directed by Frank Darabont based on Stephen King’s short story “Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption”
The Principal Photography for Jaws began on May 2nd, 1974 and was released on June 20th, 1975. Universal Pictures distributed Jaws, making $470 million on a $3.5 million-dollar budget. This film is still the seventh highest grossing film of all-time. Jaws was directed by Steven Spielberg and edited by Verna Fields, winning 3 Academy Awards they were for editing, best original dramatic score, and another for best sound. Jaws had many production issues when it came to the building of the mechanical shark being used on the set in Martha Vineyard. Jaws was edited around the shark actually and you don't see the shark until halfway through the film. So, by not overusing the shark actually makes the film feel more realistic and a lot scarier. The Revenant is a novel by Michael Punke originally published in 2002. Punke’s story is one of history, and it has been previously adapted into a movie in 1971 titled, Man in the Wilderness. All media and book did not stick to the original historical figure of Hugh Glass. Most recent adaptation in 2015 by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Despite the fact that the movie was made famous based on inaccuracy of the actual true story, it still presents wonderful cinematography. There are many strays from the true story of Glass and the factious character in Punke’s novel. To start with, the setting of the true story was not of mountainous landscapes, it was mostly flat terrain. The events occur in the summertime, but the movie depicts them in winter. Putting the true story aside and focussing on the novel and movie “in part adaption”, both were great for their own standards. In this sense I would like to categorize the book and movie with a historical fiction genre.
After Spielberg made this film he went on to make more hit films such as E.T, The raiders of the lost Ark, Jurassic park I, II, III and Jurassic World plus many others. Because of his success in the world of film Steven Spielberg is the richest director in the world and the most successful director in Hollywood. Steven Spielberg revolutionised the modern film by being the first director to have mechanical dinosaur which lead other directors to use mechanics to use in their
