Each year around 12 to 14 hurricanes occur in the United States. Hurricanes are natural disasters that form by the equator and can cause massive distruction.Hurricanes are not like other natural occurences that can be beautiful like volcanic lighting or the Northern lights. Hurricanes are very powerful winds that can kill thousand of people. They also put many people in poverty becasue they destroy many homes. The month of September, in 1928 the Okeechobee hurricane affected many areas, destroyed residents homes and killed many innocent people in the process of its destruction.
Do you think that tornadoes and hurricanes are two of the most destructive forces of nature? I feel that the hurricane and also the tornado are two of the most destructive and harmful forces to our community. They both can cause hundreds of deaths and they are worse compared to earthquakes and other natural disasters. They can ruin any home and destroy anything. There can also be a lot of different types of hurricanes and also tornadoes.
The plague impacted parts of Asia today and people are being killed by the disease. In Surat 100 people died from the plague and that affected tons of people(“Plague 1”). In India 4000,000 people fled which means left their homes and go somewhere saver(“Plague Occurs”).The plague was stressful and still is now. There were tons of issues from having the plague and having the causes it also impacted several of people in different
The storm caused significant amounts of damage and over 400 fatalities. Devastation struck the country and likely inspired the line, “And heard the sound of rushing wind,” which ended the poem with a sense of more agony to come. (Kees) It seems that no matter what one might believe, Kees’ free verse represents some form of
In the ranching regions, overgrazing also destroyed large areas of grassland. Gradually, the land was laid bare, and significant environmental damage began to occur. Among the natural elements, the strong winds of the region were particularly devastating. With the drought in 1930, the over farmed and overgrazed land began to blow away. Winds plowed across the plains, creating clouds of dust.
On the trail, accidents occurred frequently. The territory had a selection of dangerous weather like “thunderstorms, lethally large hailstones, lightning, tornadoes, and high winds”(OCTA OL). These drastic weather conditions lead to immense wear and tear to the emigrants’ wagons. A common danger that could lead to accidents was the unstability of said wagons. Pioneers would fall off the 11 foot wagons leading to serious injury with the possibility of being run over by one of it’s wheels.
Avalanches can cause flash floods, or economic impact. They can also cause damage to property because of the force coming down the mountain side is strong enough to destroy a house. They have also been known to cause a lot of casualties, because they can get caught in the avalanche and become buried, to get them unburied would take someone
Our mother earth has now been harmed and injured with all these toxic gases that us humans have released into the atmosphere. These harmful gases have travelled all the way to the clouds and created a monster called acid rain. It may not be found everywhere, but it is living. Acid rain has destroyed crops and even houses all because of us and it won’t stop
This caused them to lose many lives due to this. Natural disasters like an earthquake and flood killed many and them, then plague wiped out thousands of people. This caused Rome to become weak because many people in the army died and many people that helped run Rome died. But then because of the floods and earthquake it killed many people and destroyed many things which really put Rome in a tight spot. “The second year of the reign of Valens (366 CE)... the Roman world was shaken by a violent and destructive earthquake.” “But the tide soon returned with the weight of an immense flood which was severely felt on the coast of sicily, Greece, and Egypt… Fifty thousand persons had lost their lives in the flood.” After Rome lost 50,000 people in the flood the plague killed thousands more.
“Millions of lives were changed in a day by a cruel and wasteful storm” (George W. Bush). George W. Bush said this quote after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast. Hurricanes are deadly natural disasters that affect people every year. They have a very complex way of forming, and each storm is distinguished by its characteristics. After hurricanes, people and the environment are deeply harmed.
I learned that because of the lethal symptoms and rapid spread, the “Black Death” would be one of the most catastrophic events in mankind killing at least 25 million. People died so swiftly and in such high numbers that burial pits were dug, filled, and then abandoned. Bodies (sometimes including the living) were shut up in houses and burned to the ground, and often corpses were left where they died in the streets. There is no doubt that the bad habits of the local populations, that included throwing human waste into the streets, sharing polluted water, and the freedom of pigs and livestock to graze in the city, all contributed to an environment that provided the perfect breeding ground for this disease to spread. In the end, I learned that the spread and symptoms of the “Black Death” would leave an everlasting impression in the world because of the causalities it
“A violent kind of smallpox rages in Charles-Town that brings most of the businesses to a halt. However, several businesses fled to the country.” This quote is saying smallpox was bad at this time in Charles-Town, many families lost loved ones and lost homes due to businesses ending. Due to smallpox a lot of businesses got ruined and people died. “A great cloud seems at present to hang over this province”. The quote referenced that there was a bad contagious virus going around their community which ruined everything.
The Dust Bowl There’s a huge cloud coming only it 's not a cloud made of water, it 's a cloud of dust. When the Great Depression started in the 1930s there was a lot of economic problems, but during this time of crisis the Dust Bowl started. The dust bowl was a huge cloud of dust that destroyed parts of America. When the Dust Bowl hit it destroyed the agriculture and the dust storm affected the farmers living were the Dust Bowl hit and wherever the Dust Bowl hit, the farmer’s health was affected as well. When the Dust Bowl came it completely destroyed the agriculture due to the severe drought that had come before the actual storm arrived.
Smallpox was also a threat. One settler describes it as a “cloud over this province.” It drove off people and killed the people who stayed. It was also one of the major causes of the decline in the Native American population. There were definitely other kinds of diseases, but Smallpox was the most common. Both of these problems made it hard to settle Charles Town.
Volcanoes are formed as mountains that can be deadly. The tornado-like winds and ash from the eruption, opposed to the magma, is the most deadly part of a volcano. These winds are called “pyroclastic flow” and are very powerful that destroy lots. “The pyroclastic flow is similar to strong wind storms called hurricanes”(Lassieur 3). These winds are often the worst kind of destruction that surrounding land can suffer from.
