“Change their minds and change the world.” is a famous line told by Wonder Woman. A huge amount of people are inspired day by day by her because of her hard work and kind heart. Andrew Carnegie may not have saved the world nor fought in world wars in his lifetime but, like Wonder Woman, he sure was a hero. Andrew Carnegie grew up poor but aspired to become someone. Like Wonder Woman he worked hard and became someone important. Later, becoming rich, he wasn’t selfish with his money, like most. He changed his community by donating large amounts of money. Carnegie also changed people’s minds and ways they viewed their fortune, by encouraging others to do the same. That being said, were the traits of a hero shown through Andrew Carnegie’s philanthropy? In the article “Wealth” Carnegie states “The duty of the man of wealth (is to) set an example of modest living; and to consider all surplus revenues… as trust funds to produce the most beneficial results for the community.” This shows the reader that he thought everyone should help people out. He also said that you shouldn’t show affection with money. Overall the message he sent was that it is what you do with your money that matters not just the fact that you have lots of it. Andrew Carnegie carried the trait of concern for others and that made him heroic. Andrew Carnegie was a hero because he was selfless. In the “Carnegie’s philanthropy chart” it states “The Carnegie corporation… is currently giving out about $100,000,000 a year, most of it to education.” I can make this claim because I know that Carnegie corporation gives a large amount of money to help the community and promote education. This shows us that instead of keeping his money to himself he was kind and generous enough to give it away, to help others. Overall Carnegie showed he was selfless and became a
