Andrew Jackson; hero of the War of 1812 then elected to become the seventh president of the United States. He lived an unconventional childhood and lost his family at a young age. During his presidency, he allowed his personal opinion to oppose what the people wanted, and for it to kill four thousand innocent people in tyranny. Andrew Jackson should not be on the twenty dollar bill.
Andrew Jackson began and ended his childhood fighting in the Revolutionary War, where he lost his family. He was an orphan and a veteran at age fifteen, therefore experienced an eccentric childhood (Feller 1). According to the Miller Center at the University of Virginia, he was described as a dangerous and violent man and often began “explosive” fights. Jackson was also said to have,” a hot temper, prickly sense of honor, and sensitivity to insult” (Feller 1). With this short temper, he let his opinions get in the way of quality political decisions, subsequently quarreling with his peers. With his strong opinions, Jackson vetoed the bill proposed for the second national bank. Although many of

His government and a chief of an Indian tribe called the “Cherokee” signed the Treaty of New Echota in 1835, stating that all of the Cherokee lands now belonged to the United States for $5.6 million dollars. Many of the Indians did not want to leave, so resisted the treaty and stayed in what was once their land. Then, his government forced all of them out of their homes without time to gather belongings. This resulted in four thousand deaths of the Cherokee Indians due to starvation, freezing temperature, and disease (Alchin 1). Although some might say that Andrew Jackson built the United States and should not be labeled by what he did wrong, referred to violence and quarreling when something went wrong which resulted in cutting off many valuable lives. He should not be honored for
It is clear from the documents that Andrew Jackson acted like a king/tyrant. One reason that Andrew Jackson acted like a king was because he didn't listen to congress and he went against the U.S. Constitution. Document four stated that he sent soldiers to force Native Americans out of their homes at gunpoint and into stockades. After a few months of living in the stockades, the soldiers forced the Native Americans into the Indian territory called Oklahoma.
Andrew Jackson once said, “There are no necessary evils in government. Its evils exist only in its abuses.” In perspective, Jackson’s work can also be applied to his own quote in which he tries to talk about the rich men who use their power for personal gain or social status. The Indians who were endlessly persecuted hated his unmerciful hand that was responsible for the killing of thousands. Andrew Jackson forced the Native Americans to an early death by pushing them to the Indian territory of present day Oklahoma.
Andrew Jackson, the slayer of 3,000 Native Americans, should not be on the $20 bill. He passed an Indian Removal Act and had many slaves. He was a harsh master to his slaves. Jackson fired utterly superb federal employees. Jackson was cruel for removing Indians for more farmland.
He was the first man elected from Tennessee to the House of Representatives. He led troops as a general during the War of 1812. Andrew Jackson was the 7th president of the United States and served in office from 1829-1837. He won the popular vote in the election of 1824 but lost the election due to the electoral college. He then won the election of 1828.
What people also do not know is that he is in charge of triggering an economic depression by refusing to renew the charter of the Second Bank of the United States and the institution inflation control policies, that also triggered a panic. This is an example of how he was not a good person. One of many bad things that Andrew Jackson did was killing so many indians that he got the nickname “Indian killer”. He thought that the indians were taking up too much of the american land and he killed them instead of asking them without violence.
Our dear brother and sisters of the Cherokees, our nation’s action were only to create a more permanent home for you. The preamble of the New Echota Treaty states, “…with a view to reuniting their people in one body and securing a permanent home for themselves and their posterity in the country selected by their forefathers…and where they can establish and enjoy a government of their choice …and as may tend to their individual comfort and their advancement in civilization.” Andrew Jackson, our president, was providing a way for the Cherokee people to live and develop without either of our nations inferring, which could lead to conflict and possible wars. A luminary hero Mr. Jackson is, because he knew our fate if this Removal did not happen. A war in which millions could have died in and he saved our soldiers; the Cherokees
In anticipation of the 1832 election Charles Garcia3 Clay attempted to reauthorize the Second Bank of the United States four years before the expiration of its charter. In keeping with his platform of economic decentralization, Jackson vetoed the renewal of its charter putting his chances of getting reelected in jeopardy. However, Jackson, by portrayed himself as the defender of the” common man” against bankers. He was able to defeat Clay in the election of 1832.
Also he took down the National bank and put the U.S in a depression in 1837 (Panic of 1837). Andrew Jackson is today's the most talked about president with the choices he made and Jackson actions. Andrew Jackson is a
America is a country where tenacious individuals unified, and took control over the land that is now rightfully ours. The grueling hardships of my ancestors must not go unnoticed and disregarded- we must take control back over our country. The savages are hindering our progress in the expansion of land ownership, and therefore hindering our progress as a maturing nation. Indian habitation immobilizes the advancement of population, wealth, and power, and the Removal Act will in turn correct these derailments. Andrew Jackson, who I support fully, made several important points about the aboriginal population and the importance of relocating them.
Andrew Jackson Did Not Advance Democracy Andrew Jackson once stood as the United States seventh president. However, he did not just get this job handed to him. When he was a child, Andrew Jackson did not have the same affluence as other presidents. He was an orphan when he was young, living in a cabin.
Jackson is well known for his part in the Trail of Tears and the things he did were quite villainous. When the people from Georgia began to find gold they started to move the Cherokee out, so the Indians decided to bring their case to court. It went all the way up to the supreme court and they ruled in favor of the Cherokee Indians, which allowed them to stay on their land. Jackson didn't want the Cherokee to stay and he wanted the gold, so he said that the people from Georgia could move them out. This led to the events of the Trail of Tears where thousands of Native Americans were forced to leave their homes so they could begin to find gold.
Without these necessities 5000 of the natives died. Andrew Jackson is held responsible for these deaths as a result of not taking care of them. In 1840, thousands upon thousands of Native Americans were uprooted from their homes as a consequence of Jackson’s immoral action.. In 1907, indian territory was gone and the land, now emptie of natives, became oklahoma. The U.S. would be for changed and Jackson for ever remembered.
The most a 14 year old boy should have to worry about in 1838 is what chores he has that night, and how long each is going take him so that he can get back to whatever reckless things he feels like doing that day. But, not this time. Andrew Jackson the white president for the next 4 years decided he wants what is ours. He has started sweeping everyone and everything east of the Mississippi river, just because he wanted the land, and if we wouldn’t willingly walk away from what’s ours, he will make us at gunpoint. In this time, families got split up and people died.
Although Jackson was important, he was part of many terrible things. Around the 1820s there were many major indian tribes in eastern United States such as Cherokee, Chickasaw, Creek and Seminole. This soon came to a change. Andrew Jackson thought these Indians were in the way of eastern development, using the Indian Removal Act which the congress had approved he decided to kick them out and send them west. In 1831 the Supreme Court ruled that the Cherokee Indians had the right to self government and the United States could not interfere with that.
The time has come to make a judgement of the great Andrew Jackson, the 7th president of the United States from 1829~1837. Although some people didn’t like Jackson very well due to very few of his decisions, he made many good decisions during his presidency. Andrew Jackson should be remembered as a hero of the common man due to his unifying leadership, generous approach of governing, and concern for economic equality. The first reason that Andrew Jackson should be remembered as a hero is because of his unifying leadership.
