“Andrew Jackson: Autocrat or Democrat?” Jackson’s presidency was not democratic. This was due to his lack of democracy and the mass of autocracy. Andrew Jackson was more dependent on what happened to him. In the Indian Removal Document 1, it states that Jackson made many native americans move to Alabama and Florida territory from their homes. This was because Jackson wanted more land for more crops. The crops would bring in more money supply. The document states that the walk to new territory was very long and many native americans died on the way. Jackson was showing acts of absolute authority. In the Indian Removal Document 2, itr states that Jackson did not care about the lack of food source, safe water, and the language barriers. He just wanted the native americans to move to a different area so that they could take over their previous land. Also, in Indian Removal Document 3, it says that Jackson did not care if some of the tribes went extinct, which clearly shows the exercise of absolute authority. Although all of the other documents show a clear ignorance of others, democratic behavior is shown in Document 4 of Indian Removal. He thought that many people were entitled and that “spoils belong to victors”. Jackson was ignorant of people below his wealthyness. In Spoils System 2, it states that Jackson does not have a strong feeling about the public officers, and that they should be removed immediately. It says that Jackson wanted to replace the public officials with people that will gain experience. People that have never been experienced with this kind of stuff before. Spoils System 3 says that Jackson was ignorant of the theft that was happening behind his back. He was unaware of the theft, and then was mortified by it.
