Southern resistance killed reconstruction by having the Ku Klux Klan murdering
Also he wanted the offices that are solely to benefit the people so that no man has more rights than another. Finally, Jackson was not democratic because he wanted the Indians to move out of his land. So he decided to have the U.S. Soldiers move them west into the Indian territory.
According to “The Trail of Tears,” Andrew Jackson enforced the Indian Removal Act which ordered the U.S army to force American Indians out of their land. The Indians had no say in this even if they started adapting to American life. They were forced to walk many miles until they reached Oklahoma. Many of them suffered from certain illnesses or they died along the way. Many civilians living in the United States were ashamed of what was happening, but Andrew wanted to fight for what he thought was right.
President Andrew Jackson passed a law that stated the removal of the Cherokee Indians. They were forced to migrate elsewhere and leave their land. Their migration was called “The Trail of Tears” because of the negative effects it had on the Cherokees. It should not have happened and the U.S. should not have allowed it because it split apart people that were unified. They already had their own laws, and every clan was recognized.
In keeping with the principle, Jackson tried to abolish the College Electors (those who choose the president) by Constitutional amendment.” This quote shows President Jackson’s heroism in fighting for the people to have the power to elect their president directly. Many people would disagree and say Andrew Jackson is a villain, he did do things that were frowned upon. Probably the most negative thing is the Indian Removal Act.
By the same token, is of course the loss of life suffered by the Indians. They fought to keep their land, and perished without success. Overall, the Indians were the only side paying for the United States to expand westward, and the United States was forcing them to do so. Is it right to treat people this way, or should someone have stopped this before it
The Jacksonian Democracy is a political movement toward a greater democracy for the common man. The Trail of Tears is related to the Jacksonian democracy because both were caused by Andrew Jackson the 7th president of the United States. He wanted every land to belong to the white men, so he took it away from the natives by funding the Indian Removal Act. This act cause the native people to die on their way to an assigned territory, this journey was called the Trail of Tears. Jacksonian Democracy
When the Ku Klux Klan was formed, they tried to cease the African American from participation in the political process. “We would state that we have been law-abiding citizens, pay taxes, and in many parts of the state our people have been driven from the polls, refused the right to vote. Many have been slaughtered while attempting to vote.” [Doc. 3] Southern States deprived the right to vote from the former slaves because of their race and color. “Their (Mississippi, South Carolina, or Louisiana) framers intended and did disfranchise a majority of their citizenship [deprived them of the right to vote] because of “race and color” and “previous condition”..”
This picture describes racism, mainly between blacks and whites. The most famous thing that happened during this time was the Ku Klux Klan (KKK). They were a group of white people that had so much hatred to blacks that they started riots, and even killed. The Klan even moves states just to dominate local and state politics. The Tulsa race riot was a large scale, racially motivated conflict that happened on May 31, 1921- June 1, 1921.
THE THIRD ARGUMENT is that Donald Trump “regards himself as above the law" and he is abusing from his power. In this short period of government he is demonstrating abuse of power and not obeying the constitution. Donald Trump is “high likely” to face a impeachment within 18 months of being elected. Because he was already under fire at the start of 2017.
The Indian Removal Act was put in place to get land from the Indians to expand America. Courts told Jackson that he couldn 't take the Indians land. While the law was passed by congress. Andrew Jackson didn 't care he forced them walk to new land and hundreds of Indians died which was the Trail of Tears.
Soon after becoming president, Jackson passed the former act which called for the relocation of native tribes from their homelands to a designated “Indian territory” in present-day Oklahoma. While Jackson had a clear idea of his plans, he befriended the tribes and promised them prosperity, friendship, and the possibility of becoming civilized children of God. In other words, he, the symbol of reassurance in America, stabbed the backs of all natives. Beyond the question of Jackson 's morality, what was the ultimate reason behind the removal? The answer to this is simple: white settlers wanted to grow and cultivate on Indian lands, and they attained this when the government pushed the natives out of their lands.
Since Jackson was now without a vice president, he chooses Martin Van Buren to be his next vice president. In the midst of the entire vice president problem, Jackson was involved with the Eaton affair, which made people start to question his decisions. Jackson appointed John N. Eaton as his secretary of war. This bothered most people in the nation as well the government because Eaton married a woman whose husband died at sea. The problem was there was a rumor that
The United States wanted to remove Native Americans from the Southeast. The Indian Removal Act began 1830. It allowed southern states to purchase land that the Natives had settled on. They planned to divide land west of the Mississippi for the Native Americans to move to (History.com, 2009).
There were more than 500 treaties that was made and broken by the U.S. government. The well-known treaty was the treaty of Fort Laramie which was to bring peace with the europeans and the sioux to settle by the black hills, but a miner found gold traces in the black hills and the U.S. broke the treaty. Then the government decided to put the Lakotas, Dakotas, and Nakotas into reservations so they can stop raiding settlements and U.S. Forts. Before there were more 1 million native americans, but by the 19th century, there were estimated 237,000 left in the country. Should cultural treasures be returned to their country of origin?
