Andrew Jackson during his time was considered a very patriotic politician he hated the rich, he hated the Indian, and loved the idea of slavery. It has been said that he grew up not educated and had a bad up bring but still managed to get to a high political suture. Jackson at one point was general and had a very decorated portfolio, which made sense he would become president, Andrew was most well know for “The Battle of New Orleans” where Andrew Jackson, prevented the British Army and General Edward Pakenham, from seizing New Orleans nearing the end of that war.

However, he abused this position of power and made several choices that were detrimental to the welfare and rights of the American people. Jackson implemented the spoils system on a national scale and had unofficial members of his cabinet who did not have to answer to Congress. After South Carolinians were upset by the Tariff of 1832 he was angry toward those who did not agree with it. He also destroyed the National Bank and authorized the Specie Circular.
Andrew Jackson had become the seventh president of the United States after a close election in 1824, where John Quincy Adams had become president because of a deal that was made in the House of Representatives. Eventually in 1828 Andrew Jackson had gotten elected, but this was because he had gotten the support of farmers and merchants, since he announced that he planned to destroy the national bank. In his presidency, Andrew Jackson did many things, like mistreating Native Americans, and eventually dealing with the Nullification crisis after it caused a lot of damage. In my opinion, Andrew Jackson’s presidency was not a good one. Andrew Jackson might be seen as, “A man of the people”, but I don’t think so.

He had a harsh temper and his personality was just not fit to be in the position of president. Jackson was said to be better for the Army and military and that he just wasn’t really capable of the duties of being president. He even said himself that he was not quite made for president. “I know what I am fit for. I can command a body of men in a rough way, but I am not fit to be president.”
President Jackson was named the president of the “common man,” However, the only way this statement is true, is if the “common man,” was a white man. President Jackson was a bigot, he said he was the president of the common man, but his actions differed greatly. Hence, the saying actions are louder than words, and President Jackson's actions truly were louder than words. In fact, he promoted slavery by removing American Indians off their land, so that he could get cotton land for white Americans. Also, He violated the first amendment by ordering Southern postmasters to stop the delivery of anti-slavery literature in the South.
Is Andrew Jackson a hero or a villain? Throughout history Jackson has been viewed as both. Some see him as a war hero and the people’s president. Others see him as a racist and a political tyrant. To me, Andrew Jackson is more of a hero.
Andrew Jackson was the seventeenth president of the United States. He was known as a hero because of how he fought in the War of 1812. Jackson was known for taking apart the National Bank and making pet banks. This seemed like a good idea to Jackson, however, this eventually led to the Panic of 1837. Despite that, he was known for being for the common man.
Andrew Jackson was one of the greatest presidents who made very difficult decisions for our country. Although his choices were not always the popular decision, he made choices that were always promoting democracy. The things that make a good democracy are: giving people a say in government, having a good leader that you can trust to make wise decisions, peace and stability between each country and other states, and having equal power in the government (checks and balances). Andrew Jackson came into office with a popular vote and great support. His supporters viewed him as a man of the people.
The time has come to make a judgement of the great Andrew Jackson, the 7th president of the United States from 1829~1837. Although some people didn’t like Jackson very well due to very few of his decisions, he made many good decisions during his presidency. Andrew Jackson should be remembered as a hero of the common man due to his unifying leadership, generous approach of governing, and concern for economic equality. The first reason that Andrew Jackson should be remembered as a hero is because of his unifying leadership.

He ran for president four years prior and lost to John Quincy Adams, however, Jackson came back and ran a second time for president in the next election and redeemed himself by defeating Adams and taking his spot as president. Andrew Jackson came from poverty and worked his way to the top, becoming a young politician by 1812. In 1812 a war broke out between Britain and the United States. Jackson showed great leadership skills during this time and earned widespread fame as a military hero.

Once Jackson became president he exceeded his presidential powers through unconstitutional means. Andrew Jackson was a lying, unconstitutional, racist murderer who covered up his evil deeds by stating everything he did was for the well-being of the United States. Many citizens of the United States sided with
Jackson developed the economy in a way that no man had too much but every man were financially stable. Jackson built new roads and made other infrastructural improvements especially in the south that were of benefit to the more working class “common man”. Jackson also introduced many Acts and Movements that would help to improve the United States and improve the lives of all US citizens. Andrew Jackson, a former orphan and a war hero, was a popular choice when he was elected seventh President of the United States in 1828. This was based on the fact that Jackson did not hail from a wealthy or “elite” background but from the working class western state of Tennessee.
Andrew Jackson made history for being the first democratic president. People thought that his choices were very bad for the country. Others thought that Andrew Jackson’s choices help to make the country greater and more better. Andrew Jackson was chosen for president for the smart decisions he made during the war. Andrew Jackson was to be thought to be a great leader for this country.
