This is a passage about one of the first basketball players to ever set foot on a basketball court. He was a great hero during the Civil Rights Movement.

At the age of 26 Eric Hosmer has been to two World series and has claimed 8 awards such as Golden glove, Rookie of the month, and Kansas city player of the year. This solidifies Eric as one of the best first basemen in the MLB. Eric John Hosmer is a MLB first basemen who was born on October 24, 1989 in South Miami ,FL. Eric’s father Mike was a retired Firefighter and his mother Ileana was a nurse. Eric’s mother Ileana came from cuba at the age of seven. This had an effect on Eric and the way he saw life. Eric started playing baseball at an early age and was always coached by his father Mike. Later in the years Eric started playing select baseball and traveled all around the country. When Eric was a teenager he was associated with several little league teams and multiple championships under his belt.

Sean Taylor was born on April 1, 1983, in Miami, Florida. At the age of 3, his parents divorced. So, his father and stepmother, Josephine Taylor, in the Richmond Heights area of Miami-Dade County, primarily raised him. Sean played high school football at Gulliver Preparatory School, where he participated as running back on offense and defensive back and linebacker on defense. He helped Gulliver win the Florida Class 2A State Championship in 2000. Also, he played college football at the University of Miami, where he was an All-American.

The people who were against segregation and promoted civil rights helped to accomplish what we call today, an integrated society. During the Civil Rights Revolution, there were many prominent figures such as Jackie Robinson, the first major league baseball player who influenced the court’s decision to integrate society. Not only did Jackie Robinson play major league baseball, but he also ran track, played basketball and football. He played these college sports at UCLA, USC and Pasadena Junior College, which are predominately white colleges.
