Pet owners need to take more responsibility. Whether they are abusing animals through neglect or cruelty, it’s vital they people learn what that actually means. Depending on the abuse, I strongly believe, sentences should not only include fines, but also jail time, never be able to own an animal again, and a criminal record. Letting people off for doing such crimes can also be dangerous, as one day they may be abusing animals, but another day, it could be you. People need to start taking action and responsibility because this will only get worse.
The development of theories could enable animals to be included as recipients of justice. But, even if they were moral agents, it does not rule out the protection to animals from cruel treatment. What counts as cruel treatment is when the use of animals stops being beneficial to humans. The structure of domination by systematic oppression is borderline exploitation and marginalization when animals are killed in the name of human culture or are precisely raised for food. There should be an inclusion of animals in the scope of justice because we share the physical world.
To just kill someone you love. It’s almost like murdering your closest friend or your family member. It is cruel, just cruel to animals. It is killing a large amount of animals, and not just wild ones, scientists even kill dogs, hamsters, and other house pets too! One of the reasons animals should not be tested on is because there are tons of animals suffering and gasping for air from scientists giving animals drugs, just to see if the drug worked.
These exotic animals can be really dangerous and harmful to people. I can show this because in the text it states “A two year old got killed by a pet Burmese Python.” Another reason is that people can be crazy with their animals and abuse them. In an incident in Zanesville, Ohio this man named Terry Thompson let out all of his pet animals and killed himself, and there are more people out there
More than half of serial killers, or psychopaths, abuse animals (Meyer 9). For example, Dahmer would rip the legs off of frogs while they were still alive, hence the torture aspect, repeatedly stab squirrels and dogs, and he would even sometimes cut the ears off of the dogs
There are many reasons why a person is cruel to an animal, those include: the person was mistreated as a child and that is the only way they know how to treat living things, they simply want to mistreat the animal, they do not know that they are hurting the animal and do not see it as a problem (“PAWS - People Helping Animals.” The Animal Abuse). Animal cruelty is not just something that happens in homes but also occurs in many other places including food industries, makeup industries, labs, and the entertainment industry. The abuse happens everywhere. The organization named People Helping Animals is an organization that helps animals that are being abused, but it also brings attention to the fact that people that abuse animals are likely to abuse humans and are in need of mental treatment. Animal cruelty is an issue that affects animals that are constantly mistreated, but there are organizations, such as the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), that help by saving animals from abusive homes and get them the help
This theory states that if three particular behaviors are present as a child, this child will likely result in being a serial killer. These there behaviors include wetting the bed past the socially acceptable age, fire setting, and animal cruelty. Animal cruelty may also be the earliest indicator for conduct disorder seeing as how 25% of those with conduct disorder have also had a past history with abusing animals (citation). Animal cruelty now is measured among various scales to determine the severity of the abuse. These scales include the children and animals assessment instrument, boat inventory on animal related experiences, interviews for antisocial behavior, children attitudes and behaviors toward animals, physical and emotional tormenting against animals, and finally the clinical assessment of juvenile animal cruelty
Euthanasia is a cruel and unnecessary practice that is not in the best interest for the animal. There are many different types of euthanasia animal shelters use to put down animals, the most popular type of euthanasia is called intravenous injection, which is a poison containing sodium pentobarbital. This poison is injected in the heart or leg without any pain killers. The animal is put to sleep and in some cases, they wake up when they feel the pain and start to struggle and fight the vet. Depending on the animals' size, depends on the number of injections.
One woman that escaped the Amish community, Mary Byler, explained how throughout her childhood she was sexually abused and raped by multiple men of the community, and worse of all, her older brother. When she reported these crimes to the police these men faced some jail time and community service, and while the rest of the world sees Mary as a victim, her old community considers her the criminal for leaving and reporting these acts (Caroline). While most of the united states would turn their heads at the sight of animal cruelty, the Amish are known to own 20% of puppy mills in the U.S. Due to their belief in the ability to harm or kill what is their property, the Amish are able to avoid animal cruelty laws by claiming puppies as livestock, and thus allowing them to treat them however they please. The puppies in these mills are subjected to horrible living conditions (wire fencing, minimal food, surrounded by waste), and when they are no longer needed for breeding, they are taken out back and slaughtered, often times shot, drowned, or thrown in a woodchipper (Caroline). On a lighter note, but still of dire context, the Amish community in Lancaster, PA have been found to be major contributors to high levels of manure and fertilizer runoff in the Chesapeake Bay.
Some people may believe testing on similar working body system is a better way of getting results. This may be true in some cases, but the human body is different than most other animals, but the animals that do have similar working body systems would be used to near extinction. Since the human body is different, the results from animal testing would be unreliable and dangerous to people if it was the only research used. Why do humans still test on animals when there is still a risk at the
Jeffrey Dahmer orfan, murderer, cannibal, sex offender. A man with a tragic back story turned evil. A loner at school, who got picked on and had a sick way to have fun. As he got older he became more fascinated with dead bodies of different animals and seeing what would happen to them after a period of time. While he was one of the most know serial killers , he 's a cannibal, he kept the victims heads in the freezer and kept there skulls, poured acid in their heads to see what would happen, and dismembered their bodies after torching them.
