Characters controversial topic: Animal Experimentation There is no doubt that people are for and against Animal Experimentation, but have you ever stopped and thought what some of your favorite characters would think about the topic? Today we will be rhetorically analyzing some of my favorite animated Disney character and deciding what stance they would take based on clues from their movies. Animal Experimentation typically include tests where animals are exploited in one way or another for the personal gain of humans. This is something that doesn't come as a surprise to many of us, in fact many animated characters are shown going through the same treatment. This kind of treatment is even prevalent in children's films. The Genie …show more content…
In his culture when you are of age you get a totem that spiritually bonds you with a higher spirit. In the beginning of the movie he is told to tie up the basket of fish to a tree so that the bears won't get to it, but because the totem ritual was starting, and he didn't want to be late he tied it poorly. Before he had got to far the basket fell, and he just ignored it and went to the ceremony. When he gets back from the ceremony the basket and all the food had been ripped apart by a bear. Throughout the movie he tried to get vengeance on the bear for all the damage it had caused including killing his older brother. Kenai even said, "most bears will look for any excuse to attack the human" (Brother Bear: 2003). Kenai fully believed this, he thought of bears as blood hungry monsters, but the young cub Koda reminded him that it's not like that Koda said, "But, Kenai, he attacked us" (Brother Bear: 2003). It is later revealed that the bear was Koda mother and she attacked them because she was protecting Koda. It is in the bears nature to go in search of food, if Kenai would had done what he was told everything could have been avoided. Kenai was transformed into a bear by the spirits and spend the majority of the second half of the movie learning to adjust while being hunted by one of his brothers. Brother Bear is relevant to animal Experimentation because like Kenai many of us …show more content…
Seeing how the characters suffered makes me think that they would not wish that kind of treatment on others. I am confident enough with my opinion to think that the Genie from Aladdin would not want anyone, or thing to be exploited the way he was. The Genie was truly miserable and remained liked that until he was freed, however many animals typically aren't as lucky and end up dying in the process. Stitch was disregarded as an induvial and even as an animal was seen as an abomination. His own creator didn't care about him and tried killing him many times. Finally, Kenai from the Brother Bear showed us how greedy, and self-centered humans could be. One of the main points that people who are in favor of animal testing bring up are that the lives of animals are less significant than those of humans so testing on them and saving our lives makes it okay. I fully believe that in the beginning of the movie Kenai would be in favor of Animal experimentation, however after being transformed into an animal it showed him the validity of all lives including animals. After reviewing the circumstances, it is safe to conclude that none of the characters mentioned above would be in favor of Animal Experimentation based on what they have
This research is unfair and animals in this test don’t understand anything that is going to happen to them. Furthermore, animals “suffer painful procedures and isolations”(Source A) that really impacts the way scientists are saving human lives. However if we don’t stop animal testing, we could save lives but we won’t be helping the innocent animals the could be endangered and-and almost instinct. There are also alternatives that scientist could use to see if the product they have created could impact human lives. I think that if scientist test one cell organisms they could find the result of the experiment and see what could impact the entire body of a human or an
Credibility Step: Much of the information I’m going to share with you today came from the PETA website, the book The Animal Ethics Reader by Susan Armstrong and Richard Botzler, and the article “Animal testing: is it worth it?” by Geoff Watts. II. Body A. (1st main point) The problem of animal experiments has become one of the central ethical dilemmas in the modern society, and some countries have even banned the practice due to its cruelty 1.
These days, many companies use a variety of methods for product development and stability verification. One of them, animal experimentation, has been a controversial issue in the past until now and it has also confronted with various reactions in regards to its admissibility. We need to respect and cherish the dignity of animals. They are, like humans, are entitled to basic needs and their way of life should not be intervened and determined by human beings. Also, animal experiments are an act of looking at animals and ignoring their basic rights as living beings.
Animals play a significant role in research, testing, and education for the ongoing improvement of human and animal health and welfare. The privilege of using animals in
Yet, animal’s rights are violated when they are used in research because they are not given a choice (“Save the Animals”)”. 3. Scientists still continue animal experimentation because they believe animals have no dignity and should simply be seen as objects in order to improve the life cycle. III. Inside laboratories, animals suffer too much and are continued to be treated inhumane.
In conclusion, animal research is vital to human survival. Although some animal lives may be lost the process I believe that it is worth the risk if it will save someone 's life. In Charlie 's case Algernon was able to show him what will happen to Charlie and even though he was not able to do anything about it, he was able to prepare. Doctors need to test new medications so they can see the effects before harming humans. I believe that new procedures and medications should be tested on animals and that it is worth the risk of death of animals if it will potentially save
Audience Throughout the centuries our views on animal testing has drastically changed. Animal experimentation is when a live animal is forced to perform something or get performed on, that likely causes pain and suffering. Animal experiments include injecting or force feeding animals with harmful substances, exposing animals to radiation, forcing animals to inhale toxic gases, or surgically removing animals’ organs to cause damage. Animal testing can have both pros and cons to it. A pro to animal testing is that it doesn 't put humans to harm.
Animal experimentation is unacceptable because it is unethical. The article “Animal Experimentation” it states, “many people object to the use of animals in scientific studies because the animals are denied their freedom and often suffer serious injury and discomfort.” People disagree with animal experimentation because the animals do not have the freedom to choose. Animals cannot speak for themselves to tell whether or not they want to get tested on, because of this then the animals that are tested on suffer a lot of discomfort and injuries. Another reason why animal experimentation is unethical because it is unreliable.
The validity and even humanity in animal testing is something on the margins of morale, it is not something done out of joy, it is not pleasurable for the testers or the tested themselves. So there, we are given a reason to submit the simple question of whether animal testing should be permitted at all. Why not simply cut our losses and move on to greener pastures, after all it is indeed the definition of grotesque to experiment on living beings and people may have been right to protest and raise awareness for such cruel misconducts. There must be something that can be done.
Animal testing is not ok for so many reasons. The first I have to say is about the hardship and pain to the animals. Animals feel pain along with humans, so why do we test on them? What if a bunch of giant animals took you from your natural home, nearly starved you, then tested on you with weird equipment in someplace strange? Yeah, pretty awful.
Although the experimentation of animals has furthered medical knowledge, it should not be allowed because it is brutal and animals are unable to give their approval. In order to do a study on humans it must be authorized by them, where animals are unable to give consent, which strikes questions in the world of science on whether this is morally acceptable. Although animal experimentation can result in saving the lives of millions, many find it to be cruel and unjust. Seeing as animals are unable to speak for themselves, they are still able to express their emotions through their behavior.
Animal testing simply means the use of non-human animals in experiments, which indeed arouse great controversy in recent years. More and more people think that human being’s benefits can’t outweigh animals’
There are also some strong ethical criticisms of animals being used in experiments. Animals cannot give consent to participate in these experiments, an animal cannot express, in the same way as humans what the implications are from the experiments. The biologists would argue that animals and humans are essentially different. According to The Difference between (2012) “Human mind has gained
Imagine an enraged animal rights activist charging toward a scientist in a white lab coat, desperate to free the little mice that are being used as test subjects. Although comical, this scene may be quite accurate when describing the passion that animal lovers have when it comes to the touchy subject of animal testing. For centuries, animal testing has been used in the medical research field, however many are now beginning to question whether it is ethical. Millions of animals are killed per year due to animal testing, so is this practice worth banning? Animal testing is a controversial subject, with supporters pointing out the medical advances that have stemmed from animal research and animal rights activists declaring it cruel and immoral.
Most scientists use testing to better understand a subject such as an anatomy or to find cures for certain diseases or cancers. Not everyone agree with testing on animals, they in fact think that it is very harmful to them. As of late, the act of utilizing creatures for biomedical research has gone under serious feedback by animal protection and animal rights groups. Germain states, “The debate around the use of animals in science is an old one, and despite important differences and developments since the 19th century, one can only be struck by the underlying continuity in its themes” (75). Some of the scientist experimentation has drawn red flags by animal rights groups.
