Animals are extinct when none of them are on earth “….And so what that tells us is that the rate of bird extinctions is a hundred times greater than it should be” (DeWeerdt). Sometimes there are announcements of animals being extinct but later one shows up. Animals like mammoths and saber-tooth tigers are gone no trace of them in the world other than fossils. There are that are in the endangered list which is different because this just means that they are about to go extinct. These endangered animals could be completely gone if there weren't laws protecting them. MASS EXTINCTION Mass extinction is when many species of animals go extinct at the same time for a short period of time due to catastrophic events. There have been five total mass extinctions during history. Today people have done studies showing we might go to through a sixth mass extinction. All this external and internal conflict in the world could lead to the sixth extinction. The asteroid that hit earth was one of the five mass extinction events that killed all the dinosaurs. The five mass extinction events happened when all the dinosaurs lived. FACTORS THAT GIVE INTO
Everyone wants something in their life. A new phone, new clothes, jewelry, toys, and other luxuries. But did you realize the price tag does not show the full price? “Saving The Worlds”, and “The Race to Save the Elephants” by Mary Kate Frank believes that because of our negligence and cupidity, animals and environments are the ones actually paying for your decisions. Mankind are incessantly ruining their lives by obliterating their habitats, overfishing, poaching, producing pollution, and other nefarious methods.
People will not take good care of them because they get to big and their owners get scared and release them into the wild where there is already other animals habitats without thinking there is other ways you can get rid of your invasive pet. The second reason is, Certain plant rely on animals to keep them alive in their environment in which they live in. If you take the animal away from its original environment it could affect plants that rely on that animal and could cause the animal that went to its new environment to cause it to scare an animal away that had a plant that relied on that animal. or the new animal could eat the plant that the other animal relied on. My third and final reason is, The invasive species multiply and take over the environment causing corruption and harm.
Because of this, many native species are dying out.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if animals that were widely known on Earth went extinct? For many years, animals have been in zoos protected from the wildlife outside. Many people when visiting zoos have not thought about the real answer to why animals have been held captive from their natural habitat. Let me tell you why animals should be kept in zoos because it helps endangered species risk extinction and can help people acknowledge the protection animals need.
It is often difficult to convince people that there is an issue present which requires their attention. Infinitely more difficult is convincing them that they are to blame for the issue or problem at hand. Nevertheless, this was the task that faced Elizabth Kolbert as she wrote The Sixth Extinction. In cases like this, writers often have to use various rhetorical strategies and techniques just to reach their audience. Kolbert’s The Sixth Extinction is a perfect example of just how writers use powerful tools to connect with their readers.
Their characteristics of being protective when they feel threatens become a reason that people think they are wild and meant to be shot. People are taking their habitats, shrinking their land to a smaller portion, just for building agriculture fields, industrial places and roads. It is not fair for wildlife. Fortunately, some people start to care about those animals, meanwhile a number of agencies held in order to protect them. More people should be aware of that each variety of animal is a crucial role in the balance of the
In recent years, there has been an ongoing debate as to what caused the extinction of the Neanderthals around forty thousand years ago. Some researchers speculate that Neanderthals did not develop sufficient tools that would allow them to gather and hunt food efficiently while others speculate that early modern humans introduced deadly pathogens into Neanderthal populations which led to their extinction. However, researchers led by zooarchaeologist Jamie Hodgkins have found that frequent and lengthy glacial periods may have led to the extinction of the Neanderthals. They hypothesized that glacial periods may have reduced the quantity of prey that the Neanderthals hunted therefore they were unable to intake the required amount of food to survive.
Ecosystems are composed of a predator prey relationships that help keep balance within it. Without predators the prey population would rise to a point where the ecosystem does not have enough resources to support them, causing starvation and eventually death within the population. The population would get to a point where there is
In the article ¨ 6 Endangered Animals Poachers Are Hunting Into Extinction,¨ Jessica Phelan describes how the killing of Cecil the Lion decreased the tourism in Zimbabwe due to the hunting. This is just one example of poachers interfering with human life. If more of this continues, humans will be the only living thing on Earth. For elephants, laws have been passed to protect the ivory in their tusks that everyone wants to get hands on. In 2011, one in every 12 African elephants were killed (Phelan).
De-Extinction, a interesting topic that most people don’t have an opinion on. De-extinction is a process which uses the DNA of extinct animals and use a surrogate mother and father to bring back an extinct animal. Scientists are working on ways to bring back animals such as wooly mammoths and maybe even dinosaurs. This is a very hopeful topic from different points of view, and a very scary topic from others. Also, some scientists think it’s impossible for certain animals and not for others.
In the article 5 Reasons to Bring Back Extinct Animals and 5 Reasons Not to, the author Breanna Draxler explains, “De-extinct species would be alien and potienally invasive; their habits and food sources have changed. So their in these changed ecosystems could be too” (2013). This means that if extinct species comes back, it would have new food sources and habits to adapt to. In the article De-Extinction Probably Not Worth It by Sarah Zielinski it states, “Then they would have to successfully re-introduce the species to the planet, taking care to find a place where the new-again species wouldn’t harm other animals and where the animal would be safe from whatever drove them extinct in the first place” (2017). This explains that if a species were to come back to the world scientists would have to re-introduce them to their habitats, their food sources, and other animals around them.
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion for reaching for the stars for changing the world” (Harriet Tubman). In Jane Goodall’s scientific essay, “Hope for Animals and Their World” she uses diction to demonstrate her point of view with American burying beetles due to her childhood and adulthood experience with nature. Jane Goodall had always had a passion for animals including insects. She watches wild chimpanzees make tools to get and dig out termites from their holes.
Have you ever thought about which animals are near extinction or endangerment ? Have you looked them up? How many are left? Which ones have been removed? Do you know why they are going endangered?
Killing Animals In the present, the world has changed in many sides. One of changing is numbers of killing animals are increasing continuous. Many people think what are reasons for this acting?
This usually causes extinction within that species, and researchers have decided to do something about it. Although endangered animals are born in the wild, they should be sheltered and protected in nature parks because it helps decrease the amount of extinctions, allows a better and healthier environment, and the animals are protected from predators and human hunters. Endangered animals are to be kept in zoos because it decreases the amount of extinctions. Human activities have affected animals living in the wild dramatically throughout history.
