Animal overpopulation of companion animals has been a huge issue in the US for a long time. I didn’t realize how big of an issue this was until about age 11 when I noticed how bad they get treated when they are not taken care of. I am so excited to tell people how they can solve this problem. I have helped with this issue in many ways. I have 2 kittens that we saved on the highway, a momma kitty who had her 2 babies under our house, 1 cat that was roaming our neighborhood and 1 cat from a drive through. I still have them now and will never leave them behind, we also made sure to have them all spayed or neutered along with some others that we were able to capture and release. This is not enough, we need more people to do this! I would like to …show more content…
Today the term euthanasia is used to give reason to the murders of innocent animals all over the world. Animals should only be put down by euthanasia if they are in pain or suffering. Unfortunately, most dogs that are euthanized over the course of the year are not aggressive or suffering from any disease (The Humane Society of the United States). Most of the animals are euthanized due to overpopulation in animal shelters. Euthanasia is a cruel and unnecessary practice that is not in the best interest for the animal. There are many different types of euthanasia animal shelters use to put down animals, the most popular type of euthanasia is called intravenous injection, which is a poison containing sodium pentobarbital. This poison is injected in the heart or leg without any pain killers. The animal is put to sleep and in some cases, they wake up when they feel the pain and start to struggle and fight the vet. Depending on the animals' size, depends on the number of injections. This process is also used for animals that are euthanized due to disease or injures. Another process is called the gas chamber, the animal is put into these gas chambers and will usually scream and cry until they fall asleep. Carbon dioxide is sent out and the animal will die in about twenty minutes. Many animal shelters believe this is an inhumane way of killing the animals and are against it. But there are still animal shelters in the United States that still use this
A whole page is dedicated to children and provides fun facts about this mission and tips on how to care for a pet. Calendars are available to those that feel a connection with animals but are unable for whatever reason to donate their time. The calendars are whimsical and fun, and a wonderful way to support an organization that is definitely taking rescues to new heights. See below for links to their website and Facebook page and save an animal
When I was little I had a dog named Zeus. Zeus was 13 years old whenever he had to be put down because it hurt him to walk. It got to the point were he didn’t want to eat because it took too much energy. My Mom always told me, “It was better for him to die because he was in too much pain.” Whenever someone ‘puts down’ and dog or an other animal it is actually called euthanasia.
According to Jennie Baxla of the SICSA organization, SICSA gives their animals significant amounts of care while they are under their responsibility. The animals at no-kill shelters such as SICSA receive copious amounts of care, such as “spay[ing] and neuter[ing], microchipping, vaccinations, [and] tests for parasites” (Jewell). These no-kill shelters are incredibly dedicated to their work and animals. Additionally, the pets that receive care at no-kill shelters also receive human interaction. Multiple volunteer activities exist at no-kill shelters across the nation that involve people from all ages interacting and playing with the animals (Baxla, Jewell).
Euthanasia is the painless killing, usually by injection, of someone usually done by doctors and is illegal in the United States as well as many other countries around the world. This differs from physician-assisted suicide because in physician-assisted suicide a doctor or physician provides means or knowledge required to commit suicide, but the person has to be the one to kill themselves. Both of these situations are viewed as morally wrong in the eyes of the church and many citizens in the U.S. Euthanasia, and physician-assisted suicide, both limit the life of a person based on his or her physical and or emotional health. This process takes away part of a person’s life, shortening God’s plan for that person, and does not allow for miracles to get better. There is no definite way to predict the future but people tend to think that since a person is in pain now, and the person wants to die, nothing can happen that can turn his or her situation
Others will state that many animals are left to die in terminal labs. They will even say that some animals are pronounced dead while they are alive. They are then thrown in a pile of carcasses with deceased animals. Many state the animals are killed after being performed on, and not cared for. Some say required courses are essentially slaughtering 100s of animals a week.
Sarah Sosa Jamie Buehler English 100B May 12, 2023 The Problem with Big Cat Captivity In America alone, many big cats like lions, tigers, cheetahs, and leopards, are being held in captivity where they are abused and mistreated instead of being in the wild where they belong. Owning a big cat has become very common especially because many people use them to make a profit. Many private zoos claim to be sanctuaries but do not care for the cats as they should be cared for. Many people pay to take pictures or even just to pet big cats, especially cubs because of how cute people think they are.
Imagine having to endure so much pain and suffering for a majority of your life that you would just want it all to end. Well, there is a way one can stop their own pain and suffering and it is called euthanasia. Euthanasia is the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease. The act may only be done solely to those diagnosed with terminal illnesses such as cancer, aids, and heart disease. Many people agree with the idea of euthanasia as it can help those who are suffering be stripped of all the pain they are enduring.
The first method would be using carbon dioxide gas. The animals will be transferred into the conveyor belt that moves through the tunnel filled with carbon dioxide gas to kill the animals. The second method would be using electricity. The electric current is applied to the animals’ head to making them unconscious. Some animals are still alive during both methods and it would make them even more painful.
The most dramatic example of passive euthanasia occurs in the episode “Sympathy for the Parents”, which follows the one discussed earlier in this essay. A woman, Allison, comes into the hospital with her husband, Gary, after fainting and discovers that her cancer has returned. She undergoes a surgery to remove the tumor in her abdominal cavity and the surgery is successful. However, after the surgery, she is unable to breath on her own and the surgeons discover a brain hemorrhage that is inoperable. Allison is in an irreversible coma with no brain activity and her heart is unable to beat without the help of machines.
Opponents argue that animal euthanasia is unfair and/or cruel, because it´s the default option if an owner cannot pay for a medical procedure for their pet. There is a big difference when it comes to treating humans and animals. If humans cannot afford a procedure, they will take on debt, be forced to pay later, and will receive what they need to live. Animals on the other hand have no guarantee of care. When an animal comes in requiring surgery and the owner cannot pay, they are looking at Animal Euthanasia.
Euthanasia is the practice of intentionally ending a life in order to relieve pain and suffering. Euthanasia is a term still new to many of us. It is a Greek term meaning ‘good death’. It means self-imposed death in a relatively painless and merciful way. Euthanasia is categorized in different ways, which include voluntary, non-voluntary, or involuntary and active or passive.
Is it ever right to end the life of a terminally ill patient who is undergoing severe pain and suffering? Euthanasia is the termination of a person's life in order to relieve them of their suffering. A person who undergoes euthanasia usually has an incurable condition. There are few forms of euthanasia which includes active, passive, voluntary, involuntary, and indirect euthanasia, plus assisted suicide.
Humanity is paying to see animal abused in front of massive crowds that include children, adults, and elderly of all ages. The community views animals as entertainment and feels that it is acceptable to have living things trapped in cages throughout most of their lives. Even though society believes zoos carry a positive effect to animals; however, they cause mammals to develop severe health problems, they change wildlife behavior, and they financially struggle. Living creatures in captivity develop severe health issues due the fact that space becomes limited and natural habits cannot be mimicked to ensure maximum well-being. An example of this is when The Alaska Zoo was struggling to care for Maggie, a 4 ton elephant under the supervision of many.
So far as we know, the euthanasia can be classified in two different ways whether it be voluntary euthanasia which let the terminally-ill patients make a decision to end of life by themselves or involuntary euthanasia which the patients can no longer make up their mind to do so. Absolutely, if it was a voluntary euthanasia, it could be said that it was right to die of people because it is the euthanasia which decided by their own conscious decision, in comparison with involuntary
It is not right to euthanize dogs because it is unfair due to equal rights, it is cruel to kill animals, and there are possibly better ways to treat dogs who bite people. Killing dogs for biting is considered an unfair punishment, and they should have the same rights as humans.
