The physical suffering and discomfort that animals test subjects experience during research that are frequently faulty, limited, and expensive are the factors that advocates for stronger animal rights fight to end. Each day that an animal is subjected to animal testing is another day that they suffer. The test subjects become nothing but a prisoner to the scientists and researchers. Animals in laboratories are permitted by law to be “burned, shocked, poisoned, isolated, starved, drowned, addicted to drugs, and brain damaged” all for scientific research (“Cruelty to Animals”). As stated prior, once the experiments are over the animals either die or are thrown back into their confined cages or stocks and used for a later experiment. This treatment
Animal testing is the inhumane act of using conscious, innocent animals to test products without care of what the aftermath may be. According to PETA, the largest animal rights organization in the world, more than 100 million animals are slaughtered in U.S. laboratories every year. Those who have the heart to inflict this type of brutality do this by immobilizing them in restraint devices for hours, in order to drill holes into their skulls and have their spinal cords crushed (PETA). Along with the physical atrocities that humans are forcing these vulnerable animals into, humans are also isolating them from their own kind, confining them in barren cages, and thus traumatizing them for the rest of their lives. Those who possess an ounce of compassion
Over 6,000,000 dogs and cats were killed on US roads last year. Shocking? Your heart crushes when you hear that number about your fur babies that are at home. Well, each year 100 million animals die from animal testing each year. If you hate so much that animals are dying on the roads by accident, why can’t we do something about animals that are dying in the hands of our people?
Animal testing has abused thousands and thousands of animals. From shattering the hearts of millions of animal lovers, making beagles inhale poison, locking animals in small cages and horrifying the poor innocent things. Here’s the evidence to support that animal testing must stop soon. Heartless scientists put thousands of adorable animals through trauma and pain just for medicines, drugs and much more.
Animals in Research and Testing According to PETA, the animals who are in research and testing “shake and cower in fear whenever someone walks past their cages and their blood pressure spikes drastically. After enduring lives of pain, loneliness and terror, almost all of them will be killed,” (“Animal Testing 101”). Animal-testing is the use of non-human animals in research and development projects, especially for purposes of determining the safety of substances, such as foods, beauty products, and/or drugs. Although animal research plays a crucial role in experiments focused on disease treatments and preventions, it is cruel, inhumane, and should be stopped. This is an act that should be banned and prohibited in all states and countries
Animal Testing Laws and Impacts Isabela Nolasco Hewlett High School AP Seminar: 10th Grade Mrs.Wagner December 21, 2022 Animal testing could be controversial because of the potential cruelty to animals. The government over the years has recognized this and has attempted to put laws and policies in place, and formed committees to prevent animal cruelty in the animal testing. But at times these committees and laws are not the strongest or well enforced to be able to do so. Therefore, animal testing has not been stopped or limited.
Animal Testing, also known as Animal Research or Animal experimentation, is often an incredibly cruel process for the animals
Animals are subjected to excruciating experiments daily. Countries such as Israel and India have stopped animal testing as well as Britain. “…countless animals are experimented on and then killed…” (Murnaghan 1). Animals are subjected to confined rooms all of their lives, used in painful experiments and then disposed of as if they are an inanimate object.
They can feel physical pain like humans when subjected to these methods of testing, as well as display human like emotions such as depression, anxiety, fear and more. The animals that are exposed to toxins and chemicals can also become deformed along with their offspring. Supporters of animal testing might say that animal testing is needed for scientific research and medical purposes. They would say that it’s better to have done the testing on animals rather than humans. Since starting animal testing medical and scientific research has come a long way.
Imagine an enraged animal rights activist charging toward a scientist in a white lab coat, desperate to free the little mice that are being used as test subjects. Although comical, this scene may be quite accurate when describing the passion that animal lovers have when it comes to the touchy subject of animal testing. For centuries, animal testing has been used in the medical research field, however many are now beginning to question whether it is ethical. Millions of animals are killed per year due to animal testing, so is this practice worth banning? Animal testing is a controversial subject, with supporters pointing out the medical advances that have stemmed from animal research and animal rights activists declaring it cruel and immoral.
Most of the animals that are experimented on during testing are either terminated or held in captivity. A mistake many people make made about animals that were used for testing is that they give them up for adoption or release them in the wild this is not right and humane for many reasons most animals that are used for testing have never been in a home environment there for they would not be able to cope with people. also a animal that was being experimented on will not know how to survive in the wild because it's probably been held in captivity all of its life so it won't know how to find food and shelter and will probably end up starving to death. There are other ways animals can be handled after testing one way is they can be killed using
Should They Suffer For Our Survival imagine life inside a cage. About to be injected with unknown chemicals. Suddenly, a hand presses you against a cold, hard table, preventing you from moving as the needle inches closer and closer. This is the fate of thousands of animals every day. Animal testing is done to evaluate the effectiveness of new medicines and products.
Mankind shares a psychological phenomenon known as reason where it is “the intellectual ability to apprehend the truth cognitively, either immediately in intuition, or by means of process of inference.” (Philosophy pages) Humans being gifted to be given such ability to be able to go through reasonable circular thinking may in turn be burdened by questions. Such vary nature of reason, even if it means to surpass all powers, cannot be ignored nor answered. (Kant, 7)
Even if the animal was not harmed during the experiment, many of the animals used must be killed at the end of the experiment. Millions of animals were used in animal testing, which means that millions of animals were killed by animal research. If we were to vastly reduce animal experimentation, many behaviorally abnormal animals, often mice or rats, might be readily moveable into the pet trade. Even if the opposition counterargument, that animals lack the capacity to truly suffer, is believed, research should none the less be banned in order to prevent the death of millions
Testing on Animals For many decades, using animals for testing has become one of the many controversial topics. Experimenting on animals can be beneficial but can be misleading when an animal has a different response than a human. Animals have as much rights as humans do but are still being violated. And even when there has been laws and acts passed to protect them, they are still being used in many laboratories in the United States.
There is a debate on whether or not scientists should test human products on animals. Not only does the testing on these animals do more harm than good, but also humans and animals are not physically and genetically the same. Testing human products on animals should not be allowed. Testing on animals can cause harmful side effects. Some tests are known for “immobilizing rabbits in full-body restraints while a substance is dripped into their eyes or smeared onto their shaved skin” (Product Testing: Toxic and Tragic).
