This story is about a young girl named Anna Fitzgerald. Her sister Has Leukemia. Anna was made to serve her sister/keep her alive. Since Anna was a young child she has been made to give bone marrow, blood and organs to her sister. It all starts on a monday, young thirteen year old anna goes to a lawyer to represent her in a case of suing her parents for medical emancipation. While this lawsuit unfolds her sister Kate in in her last days. Kates kidneys are failing and is spending most of her days in the hospital. Their parents marriage is struggling. The day of the trail came. Kate is on the verge of dying and reluctantly Anna admits Kate made her sue her parents. My sister's keeper ends with Anna in a serious car crash that she doesn't recover from, Anna ended up giving her organs to Kate to let her live after her death. Kate narrates the end of the book. This quote means they are feel as if they are the same person especially since there's a portion of anna's body in hers. as anna has shared so much of her body with Kate to keep her alive. There bond was shown many times throughout the book including, when Kate got Leukemia and her hair was falling out Anna shaved her head with Kate to make her feel better about her situation. They feel that not only their lives are very similar but there bodys have the same blood flowing through
In addition, the short story included called “Leg Irons” illustrates the life of a African American man named George Washington who runs away from slavery still in chains and manages to get to the Union Lines. Dated on 1861, two years before the Emancipation Proclamation, the union soldiers that captured him didn’t send him back to his master in the south but instead sent him to a camp, where they keep other escapee. The short comic takes us through the series of tests that George had to conquer. One of them presents some union soldiers stopping him and pointing a gun at him however he walks away unharmed until someone else stops him and does the same thing. Anna and the Swallow Man’s journey begins in Krakow, Poland. She met the Swallow man in this city after her father was taken. He reminded her of her own father and because of that, she started following him outside the city. Anna conveyed to him that she wanted to travel with him, but the Swallow man said “’I will take you back to Krakow’” (Savit 36).
SUMMARY Anna Fitzgerald was conceived to be the perfect donor for her sister Kate, who is suffering from leukemia, in other words, blood cancer. Her parents handpicked the embryo to have genes that would perfectly match Kate’s in order to get the stem cells that would save Kate. After that, Kate goes into remission. However the cancer comes back, and Anna is consistently needed throughout her life to supply Kate with cells and even bone marrow. Kate’s condition holds Anna back from doing many things, such as sports and living independently away from the family.
Long ago in 1634, the King of England, Charles I, provoked many people to want to leave to the New World, due to the monarchy system. Anna, one of the miserable people under the King’s rule, was just like everyone else and couldn’t stand to live there anymore. Kammie, her sister, and Kathryn, her mom, had been listening to George Calvert in Maryland, one of the few southern colonies, and liked what he had to say. As a family, they made the decision to journey to Maryland, because of the representative government, strong economy, good climate, and especially the catholicism.

They both were able to safely escape with the help of one French policeman. Brian Fitzgerald, the father of Anna, Kate and Jesse Fitzgerald, is a firefighter and spends his days battling the fires, both real and symbolic, which destroy other people’s lives. Unfortunately, he is unable to fight the fires within his own life, and this leads to the destruction of his ability to save his family from the difficult situations they face. The Fitzgerald family’s medical and moral issues that stem from Anna being born as a medical donor for Kate affect each of the characters in different ways. In My Sister’s Keeper, fire is the mechanism used to symbolize these problems that the Fitzgerald family faces. Fire in a general sense is the combustion that occurs when fuel reacts with oxygen to release heat energy.
Kate crisis also put an extra strain on her sister which caused her to be sick sometimes from donating. Kate was unwilling to let her illness break her spirit as it was doing to her mother. Her mother allowed Kate’s situation to keep her from recognizing the other people in her family needs. Kate had been through multiple surgeries, and she always tried to put her best foot forward although there were a few times that she felt angry, and she started acting unlike herself by doing things like drinking alcohol. It came a time in Kate’s life when she knew her situation was not getting better, so she wanted to stop all the medical operations.
in the story my sister's keeper by jodi picoult the characters that are in the story are faced with many ethical issues. in the story anna was made to be a genitalic made baby that would be able to donate all of her organs and anything that her sister kait would need to survive the cancer issue. all of this will lead up to many issues with the family with how they treat anna and it will not end well for the family. in the story anna was the child that was genetically made to help her sister kate. kate had a type of cancer that she needed help to get all of the organs that she needed and anna did not want to help kate for most of the time.
“Memphis, Virginia, Japan…” The list goes on and on as Anna Armstrong names all the places where she has lived. We’re sitting at a small square table in Pimento’s, waiting for our food. As we wait, she regales me with tales from her childhood. Anna did not have a typical upbringing.
The story takes place during 90’s in a small town called Endora. The town is very peaceful and nothing really happens that much. Gilbert’s family lives in a house with Arnie, Amy, Ellen, Mama and other important people to them like Mrs, Carver and Becky. Arnie has development disability, which no one wants to take care of him except Gilbert. Ellen who is fifteen years old who is always disguised and Amy who is always doing all the work is busy and lastly Mama who lost her husband is stressed.
