I read the book, Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl written by Anne Frank, who was a young teenage girl who journals her days in hiding during the holocaust. “The first thing I put in was this dairy, then hair curlers, handkerchiefs, schoolbooks, a comb, old letters; I put in the craziest things with the idea that we were going into hiding. But i’m not sorry, memories mean more to me than dresses.”(Anne Frank, 12) Anne was a very outgoing person who put down all of her thoughts on paper; well for the past couple years while she was in hiding at least. We have feelings, beliefs, and opinions. Anne and her family were very faithful to their religion, they Jewish. They celebrated Jewish holidays such as hanukkah. Hanukkah is celebrated for the rededication of the second temple in Jerusalem. My family and I celebrate christmas for the birth of baby Jesus, with our christian beliefs. Anne and her family have Jewish beliefs, however Peter does not. Anne doesn’t completely agree with this fact but, she has learned to part with the disagreement because she has fallen in love with him. The mix of her beliefs and falling in love has caused a lot of confusion in her life. She often questions the mixture of her love and religion for together they have gotten complicated. She wants to take things slow and is very cautious about the situation, but doesn’t know how. “Remember yesterday’s date, for it is a great day for every girl when she receives her first kiss?” (Anne Frank, 189) Saturday, 15 April, 1944; the date of Anne’s first kiss. She has fallen head over heels for Peter and has been told by her father that she needs to take their relationship slower.
