Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929 in Frankfurt Germany to her loving parents Otto and Edith Frank, 3 years after the birth of her sister, Margot Frank. The Frank family lived in Frankfurt for 4 years before moving to the Netherlands in 1933 as a result of the rise to power of Adolf Hitler in Germany. He began to discriminate against the Jewish people which made it an unsafe place for the Frank’s to live in, as they believed in the Jewish religion. Although her diary only depicts 2 years of the struggles Anne and her family faced, it has become one of the most moving pieces of literature in the world translated into 67 languages with over 30 million copies sold.

The war has a huge impact on Amsterdam and food becomes deficient and crime increases. Anne Frank writes about her personal feelings as well as the up and down relationship she has with the adults in the secret annex. She often writes about her mother who Anne feels lacks in her affection towards her. Anne is not very fond of the van Daan’s as well. Anne does not mention her sister much in the diary entries but when she does she describes her with words like pretty,smart, and acceptable. Anne, however, develops a budding bond with Peter van Daan. The diary exhibits the amazing writer Anne Frank was but is also exposes the sensitivity she felt while living in the secret annex. Anne also expresses her feelings of confinement in the house and confinement towards people she dislikes. Anne Frank conveys her feelings across every page in her diary and the feelings she feels are often visible in the average teenage girl’s life modern
