The following literatures show the significance of the current study and provided ideas, information and guide to the proponents on the possible theoretical framework that can be used for the study.
According to Melinda Smith, M.A., Suzanne Barston, and Jeanne Segal, Ph.D., if we have a friend or a family member that suffers depression, each of us can help them to recover. Our presence is very important. We can help them to get through the depression symptoms, prevail over negative thoughts. To help a depressed person, we should understand their feelings first. We can help by encouraging them to talk about their problems and listening without judging them.
According to Charlotte Hilton Andersen, people who surround a depressed person can help a lot to change his/her feelings or mood. Social support is a key to cure depression. At a conducted research, it was found out that medicines helped only one third of depressed people. This study also determined a cure rate of fifty percent of depressed people just because of strong social support.

Burns, depression can be cured through self help or without using drugs. A depressed person must manage to deal with the guilt of being depressed. Each individual should build self-esteem and overcome addiction to love and approval.
According to National Institute of Mental Health, depression is a serious illness that needs cure and it affects people in many different ways. We all experience sadness. But it depends upon the person how he/she cope up with that feeling. It is advised to see a doctor if you think you have depression. But it is not easy saying your problems to a doctor, but once you started opening up to them, they can help you a lot. You just need to find a person whom you can trust and tell everything that has been bothering you.

Throughout the nation and our world people are suffering from this disease. Depression effects people of both genders, all ages, and any background. The history of mental illness, specifically depression were extremely helpful in today’s treatment and diagnosis. We know that all individuals are different and because of this, we can assume that each case of mental illness, more specifically depression, is unique in its own way as well. One treatment that is very effective for one person may not be equally as effective in a similar case simply because of the differences in patients.
Depression could be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain that medication can correct. It is suggested that depression among older adults can be detected early if family members, and other people within the community recognize the warning signs. People experiencing depression are often sad and sometimes are having crying spells. They often are restless and have difficulty times sleeping. Everyone have different treatment method by a factor of depression. At first, change the lifestyle is very helpful to overcome depression.
Personal narrative Depression can be a monster and destroy the lives of people, but in my case it help me express my emotions better by helping me be more honest with myself. Depression has never been alien to me. Since middle school I have danced with the devil. I do not know what triggered it then, but it was mostly likely hormones. Despite that ever looming sadness over my head, I was still doing well in school, at least as best as I could do, I still hung out with people and I was still social when I had to be.
“Unfortunately, people are not transparent; you cannot look into their heads to see what they are thinking or feeling. You might not notice that what you are seeing could be the person’s cry for help” (Hittelman 1). No matter how close two people are, it is difficult to grasp what the other is thinking. Without any obvious hints, one can easily overlook a depression. “Million of people suffer from depression, yet many are putting on a brave face” (Mayoh 1).
I know that many people will just dismiss depression as being an excuse when the person is struggling to stay motivated while they are depressed. Many people seem to think that depression isn’t real and that people who are suffering from it are just over reacting. I have heard many people say, “just smile” or “be happy” or even “you are alive and breathing you should be grateful and happy about that”. I have also heard people say, “exercising is good for you and will help your depression, just go do that,” what those people don’t seem to understand is that some days it’s a struggle to get out of bed to begin with let alone drag ourselves outside and start working out. When it comes to people who self-harm, I give major sympathy for because I know when people find out that you do that, they say the most horrible things.
Depression can cause severe symptoms that can affect how you feel, think, and handle your daily activities. Depression is always accompanied by sense of suffering as well as the belief that escape from it, is hopeless.
Most times depression can exhibit in different ways depending on the person and trauma. Therefore to understand and better help a person suffering from depression, you have to look past the outermost facade. We live in a world where everyone is too busy to step out of their comfort zone and help a friend in need, we trade friends and family for economic pleasures. It’s important to care and check on loved ones, because sometimes people undergo overwhelming experiences. No matter what kind of depression you have, the pain is the same-caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain. No matter what you 're depressed about, or even if you don 't know why you 're depressed, there are some simple things you can do to reduce your pain and anxiety, and get yourself feeling better. Simple cognitive behavior techniques and exercises can lessen pain and stimulate more productive thinking. Low-key physical and mental activity can also speed recovery.
Not only that, but when someone cries people tend to try to help them, they feel like they need to help. This is some cases can help the person who is not feeling ok at the moment. From my own experience I can say that when people try to help me when I’m sad I feel better because I know someone cares about how I feel, and it eventually helps me to be happy
