According to the United Nations, a child dies of hunger every ten seconds. Likewise, millions of people live in poverty and do not know when they will eat again. While the typical American throws away leftover food, children are dying across the world from starvation. To put this into perspective: By the time you have started reading, a child has died of hunger. But who is to blame? According to Singer, you are. Bioethicist and utilitarian philosopher, Peter Singer, in his argumentative essay, “The Singer Solution to World Poverty,” asserts that it is the individual's responsibility to save children in poverty. Singer utilizes many rhetorical strategies-- including appealing to pathos, repetition, and comparison of statistics-- to defend his argument: “Whatever money you’re spending on luxuries, not necessities, should be given away.” In addition, he adopts an analytical and indignant tone in order to

Selflessness is defined as “concern more with the needs of others than with one’s own” (dictionary.com). Suzanne Spaak is the perfect example of selflessness. She was willing to die for a meaningful cause she believed in: rescuing Jews throughout the Holocaust. Spaak did whatever she could to help the struggling Jews, and joined an underground movement that’s goal was to put an end to racism. She risked all that she had to stand up for what she believed in, putting all personal problems aside, to do what she knew in her heart was right. Because of her willingness to do whatever it took to help, many innocent children and adults’ lives were saved. By examining Spaak’s selflessness, bravery, and persistence, it is clear that she was indeed full of moral courage.

Today’s world poverty remains the biggest problem in the world. In “The singer Solution to World Poverty” Singer talks about the American movement and its connection to world poverty. Where he claims that the only solution to world poverty would be by donating money to charity, and he point out type amount of dollars that could save a child’s life. He talks about how people should not spend money on luxuries while they are children dying in the world .Singer says that those luxuries shouldn’t be more valuable than people’s lives. In His essay he talk about the two examples of how people should save a child life tends not to do so.

In the harsh world of The Road, there is a man and boy who both struggle to survive and their only hope is to cling on to the good morals. People have abandon all the good morals and have resorted to violence, murder, and cannibalism to survive. Although Cormac McCarthy envisioned the world stating that only the violent survive, he also created two characters that would defy that belief by having them survive and simultaneously stick with their good morals. Cormac McCarthy defines the difference between the good and the bad. He used detailed imagery to describe the corrupt appearances the bad guys have.

The book A Long Walk To Water by Linda sue park fallows a young boys life from a child to a adult and how the events in his life molded him to who he is today. When he was eleven Salva was in school and they where attacked and he left without looking back and didn 't find his family for a long time. Life should be lived to its fullest potential. There are so many joyful experiences in life as well as many sad ones. In Brian Doyle’s Joyas Volardores, Doyle explains that humans instinctively attempt to block themselves from pain. But, he says that this is not how we should live. Instead, Doyle suggests that humans need to open their heart and experience the pain and sorrow, in order to fully experience all the love and joy that life has to offer.

The actual life of a police officer is spent responding to crimes, interviewing witnesses and suspects, apprehending fugitives, and collecting evidence. They witness and experience many traumatic events, such as having to respond to a murder call or a rape situation. Things, such as the ones mentioned lead to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Police officers (PTSD). PTSD is a disorder that may be triggered by witnessing or experiencing traumatic events. Law enforcement officers’ experience these events at one point while on duty, which is why PTSD is common within this line of duty. A police officer with PTSD suffers social stress around friends and family, and instead of seeking help they turn to unhealthy habits.

Imagine spending a life malnourished, sick and in captivity just so that people can see a performance with tricks and splashing. Captivity has harmed marine mammals for centuries and has become a reoccurring problem in places like SeaWorld. There is no understanding of why people enjoy seeing abused animals held in captivity. SeaWorld’s inhumane manner of care must cease and instead refocus the marine work and efforts on confined animal rehabilitation through exceptional nutrition and investigative research.

Brian Doyle, the author of “Joyas Voladoras,” passionately writes about hearts due to his own experiences with his son, who was born with only three chambers in his heart. In his short story, “Joyas Voladoras,” Doyle further discusses hearts and the symbolic meaning they possess. Through examples with hummingbirds, whales, and people, he is able to convey that feeling vulnerable is a part of life. He discusses vulnerability through multiple situations: how it exists while taking risks, how it exists while seeking companionship, and how it is exists due to harsh realities of the current world. In “Joyas Voladoras,” Doyle suggests that the heart is constantly in a state of vulnerability.

Deardevil is a hero whose name is matthew. He grew up in Hells Kitchen with his father who is a boxer, nicknamed Jack "The Devil" Murdock was a contender. Matthew had an accident as a child that left him blind, but four other senses increased functionality that makes it easy to do things like normal people. After the accident matthew and his father did not give up on the circumstances, they promise to pursue ideals.
