Group 2: Anti - Inflammatory Bath Bombs Research Question : Is it possible to make anti -inflammatory bath bombs that are actually good for the skin ? Summary - Today bath bombs are all the rage or their cool explosions in baths and everybody just finds it fun and relaxing . However, according to draxe.com , “hormone-disrupting chemicals to possible disease-triggering dyes infiltrating your mucous membranes,” are inside bath bombs and so are , “synthetic scents are one of the most toxic ingredients in bath products” which can be harmful to the skin episodically people with bad skin conditions . For example, most of the food coloring used in most bath bombs can be toxic for your skin and also genital health therefore we are using beet root powder in our bath bombs to make a natural color dye that isn’t toxic of course because it is a natural …show more content…
Well aloe Vera contains vitamins , enzymes, minerals, sugars, lignin, saponins, salicylic acids and amino acids. The enzymes can help prevent itching of skin which can reduce inflammation and the vitamins and minerals are good skin moisturizers. Turmeric , one of our other natural ingredients has a main active ingredient called Curcumin and has very powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a strong antioxidant . These are why we’re using some of these natural ingredients with components that are good for the skin . On the other hand , some toxic ingredients as aforementioned in regular bath bombs synthetic scents can put you at risk for infertility, breast cancer and other diseases because it will mess with your hormones also it can be dangerous if exposed to children in the womb. Therefore my group is trying to find a way to make bath bombs with natural ingredients that is suitable for everybody and can help people enjoy something everyone does without worrying about the damage it might to do them
The ingredients of food dyes are unsafe, unnatural and can make people very sick if not tested or handled correctly. Coal-tar and petroleum based dyes

The History and Science of Healing With Essential Oils Did you know that at least 30% of prescription drugs in the United States are based on naturally occurring compounds from plants? Each year, millions of dollars are spent searching for new, undiscovered, curative elements in the bark, roots, flowers, seeds and foliage of plants from every corner of the Earth. As the most powerful part of the plant, essential oils and plant extracts have been mankind 's first medicine. History has shown and science supports that these can be used medicinally to kill bacteria and viruses.
One of the main ingredients in Lush products is Sodium Bicarbonate, which is a weak base. It has to react with a weak acid in order to release carbon dioxide gas, creating the famous fizzing in bath bombs when dropped into water. Another ingredient common to many soap products is SLS, or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. The controversial ingredient is known to
Hydrogen peroxide is often used in homes as a disinfectant for small wounds or for other cleaning purposes. It can be bought in concentration as high as 35% which is great for long term use. To use hydrogen peroxide you only need one ounce of 35% hydrogen peroxide per 100 gallons of water for every day you use the hot tub. Biguanides or PHMB which is short for Polyhexamethylene Biguanides are completely Chlorine and Bromine free. Biguanides are not usually recommended because they are more expensive and cannot be combined with some pool chemicals, such as chlorine and bromine.
Being able to identify unknown microbes from systematic testing is what makes the field of microbiology so important, especially in infectious disease control. Using the testing procedure laid out by the microbiology field we are able to identify unknown bacteria present in our everyday lives, and along the way learn a lot about their characteristics that separate them from other types of bacteria. Being able to do this is vital in order for us to understand why microbes are present in certain places, how they are able to grow and what restricts their growth, that way they can be combatted if necessary. These techniques for determining unknowns are also important for isolating and testing infectious disease microbes in order to prevent spreading. Another important aspect of being able to identify unknown microbes is the
Yellow No. 6 contains benzidine and 4-Aminobiphenyl which research has shown are cancer-causing compounds.
The scientist first began by researching what exact ingredients are used to create bath bombs. Bath Bombs come in all different sizes, shapes, and colors but they all have the same three main ingredients; citric acid, Epsom Salt, cornstarch and baking soda. Overall these ingredients have a purpose in a bath bomb. The source Pinpossible: Bath Bomb, states “The Epsom salts are used to give the bath a more therapeutic soak and are
I. Artificial dyes are found in a majority of processed foods in America. Most of these synthetic dyes are made of or based off of petroleum, a crude oil. Since these dyes are mainly petroleum based they can cause serious health risks on people, especially those diagnosed with ADHD, attention deficit/hyperactive disorder. Because of these potential dangers, laws dating back to the 19th century have been passed, banning the addition of dyes and other harmful substances to foods. Through the years there have been many debates, laws and protests against food dye and their effects on humans and animals.
It is seven o’clock in the morning, school hasn’t even started, but AP Chemistry has. As the teacher explains the lab in the front of classroom, the perfect combination of math and restless nights takes its toll on the rows of students. Slowly, heads go down and phones come out. As the attention of the other students wanes, my fascination grows. I begin wondering, “Why do polyphenolic beta-dicarbonyls found in turmeric, seem to offer medicinal advantages in treating cancer and Alzheimer 's disease?”
We have decided to invent a product for families to be used in the summer which can make their days in the backyard more fun and enjoyable. The “pool” Bomb is a product that provides a solution to floating chlorine dispensers in pools and the potentially irritating scent that chlorine emits. The problem with the floating chlorine dispensers in pools is that there is a possibility that it will not add chlorine to the water effectively because it may get stuck in one section of the pool and water cannot effectively pass through the dispenser. The design of the pool bomb will allow for the chlorine to spread throughout the pool effectively, and other features of the product will cancel out the smell of chlorine from the water.
Chemical compounds that are available to determine are CaCO3, CaCl2, Ca(NO3)2, mgCl2, MgSO4, KCl, HCl, HC2H3O2, KNO3, K2SO4, NaC2H3O2, Na2CO3, NaCl, Na2SO4, HNO3, H2SO4, HNO3, H2SO4, NH4Cl, (NH4)2SO4, K2CO3, 0.1 M AgNO3, 0.2 M BaCl, Mg(s), NaOH, and KOH. To start this experiment, start with the flame test by gathering a Bunsen burner and a Nichrome wire. Connect the Bunsen burner with a rubber tube to a laboratory gas. To prepare solutions for the flame test, weigh out 0.205 gram of Unknown Compound using an analytical balance and mixed it into a 140 mL beaker filled with 20 mL ionized water. Ensure that solid is completely dissolved using a stirring rod.
The purpose of our project was to examine how accessible it would be to make medieval cosmetics from the Trotula while also learning about the beauty standards of the Medieval Ages. Two of our recipes were tested on a doll to detect any effects on its skin. I did a "recipe" that involved filling a veil with sweet-smelling ingredients such as cloves and nutmeg. The purpose was just to make the hair smell pleasant. I decided to make this recipe due to the fact that I wear a veil on a daily basis and I feel that my hair could smell more fragrant.
It was not only a dye, but it was an idea of wealth that millions of people craved. They craved that dye so bad that they were willing to take random people 's lives away from them and reduce them to nothing more than machines created to produce dye. There is not another substance so utterly pointless that has caused so much despair and death to so many innocent
A) I’ve been aware of toxins for quite sometime now and stickily use all natural household products even for washing cloths with products like Dr. Bronner's (Organic castle soap) . Though, every day I’m surrounded by radiation from the constant use of computer, phone, and T.V with a total of 6 plus hours. In order to avoid the electro smog created I use a large Himalayan Salt Lamp to counteract the positive ions from these devices with negative ions. On top of neutralizing the radiation, the salt in the lamp absorbs contaminants from the air, acting as a natural air purifier. Also, It’s been 6 months since touching a cigarette, in place of smoking I have been using a vape device.
