The purpose of this test was to assist in the evaluation of an individual students’ ability to excel in college, which of course, hasn’t been doing a great job. And to make matters worse, the same students that are earning A’s of B’s in their AP, honors, or duel enrolled classes, are having their fate determined because their test scores aren’t deemed worthy for recognition. Thousands of colleges and universities are missing out on the opportunity of having excellent and well-determined students at their school, because there too gung ho about the “cut-off” (or minimum) score. Colleges that are too focused on the cut-off score are subliminally reminding students that good grades do not matter; volunteer hours aren’t really a big deal; receiving awards isn’t anything special; unless they have the high SAT or ACT score to validate it. This can make a student feel like everything they worked so hard to accomplish was a complete waste of time.
In college departments are required to have a certain amount of students enrolled in one of the departments courses. If a academic department in the school cannot reach a certain amount of students over a certain time the department will have to close. Arts and humanities classes are on the decline due to the number of job opportunities available. However, arts and humanities courses are important to help develop an understanding for literature and art. Many college students are not a fan of taking arts and humanities courses because the courses do not correspond with their major.
Gary Gutting and Mark Edmundson the authors of the essays “What is College For?” and “On the Uses of a Liberal Education” respectively expressed their opinions on how college isn’t what it used to be. Gutting said some universities don’t teach what they are supposed to; they make some classes compulsory so students end up taking classes that are unnecessary. In result when students are given these particular courses as they become disinterested and aim for average instead of learning the material. Other people in the community believe that the “C rule” is not fair for the people who do not participate in any extracurricular activities because they will not be being punished. This is in fact not true. Juniors and Seniors with failing grades are forced to stay for study hall each day while there piers are going home. Study hall provides them with the extra time they need to get their work done in order to raise their grades. Juniors and Seniors must continue going to study hall until they have raised their grades .

Some people believe this because college athletes aren’t employees, sports programs do not have the money to spare, and there are already scholarships given to athletes. If an extra 2 years of college originally happened without guided pathways, what problem are they solving? This essay leads up to the readers to realize what small problems can be coming from Guided Pathways. Students are still not finishing on time and making career decisions even more difficult due to the fact that they aren 't allowed to switch majors/courses whenever they don 't feel comfortable anymore. The purpose for this paper to make improvements in this program, instead of just throwing out all the qualities it has offered. American teens My life compared to the Americans in the documentary is totally reversed compared to theirs. For starters, my parents hopefully don 't expect anything from me at all, only that I get through high school and get a job.
