Welcome to AP TAG English III, otherwise known as AP English Language and Composition. I did TAG English in middle school, but this was the first year I did TAG English in high school. If you are in this situation, don’t worry, it is not that much different than regular AP English. You read a lot of the same books, but you don’t have a single test all year. Test grades in this class are projects, book conferences or seminars. This made a lot of people, including me, very nervous the first couple of times. Looking back, I can tell you that while the stakes are the same, having a book conference is a ton less stressful than a major test over the whole book. The reason this is is because you can actually talk about what you know. There is no guessing between two answer …show more content…
My advice for you to be successful in this class is to take the projects seriously. I would highly recommend choosing a partner that can and is willing to work just as hard as you are. I did not do this the first semester, which made it a lot harder to do well on the projects. Towards the end of the semester, I became partners with someone who cared about this class just as much as I did, which made the class a lot easier. In the fall, the education project is a killer. It takes a ton of research and essay writing to do this project effectively. My partner and I ended up writing a 41 page paper on Ennis ISD, in addition to a poster and a speech. Although it took a lot of work, we got a 25 point bonus on that project (3 test grades) because we were recognized by Mrs. Davenport as the “most effective consultants” (the best project). This bonus is given out on every project. Other things that I would recommend is reading every book she assigns. I do not thoroughly enjoy reading, but through will power I read every page that she assigned us. This is something that paid off in the end as I was able to reference a few of these books on the AP exam. None of the books Mrs. Davenport
1. Researches excluded students that are diagnose with mental problems because the researches don 't want to make them uncomfortable on what students without mental health problems feel. I also believe that students with mental health problems were excluded because they will not give an accurate answer. 2. I believe that people think about that people with mental health problems are crazy, can 't think right, mean, weird, and dumb.
A rhetorical analysis of: “For many restaurant workers, fair conditions not on menu”, an editorial published in February, 2014 by The Boston Globe, reveals the author’s use of classic rhetorical appeals to be heavily supported with facts, including focused logos arguments. “For many restaurant workers, fair conditions not on menu” is a Boston Globe editorial published in February 2014 by author/editor Kathleen Kingsbury. At the pub on St Martin's Lane, you guzzle Brooklyn Lager while Iggy uploads photos to the Internet. England Trip with Dad--Day One, she's called them, and she tags you in each: London Heathrow! Eating fish 'n' chips! Dad's neckbeard, lol! In one hand she cradles her cellphone and in the other a champagne flute that pulses with prosecco, which, you've learned, is European for sparkling wine.
As in any class worth taking I expect there to be challenges when dealing with the course material
2004 AP English Language & Composition Free-Response Questions: Question 1 In the 1746 letter to his young son, Lord Chesterfield asserts to his son the importance of taking the full advantage of education in achieving excellence through the usage of various rhetorical features such as understatement, irony, and rhetorical questions. Throughout the first paragraph, Lord Chester repetitively uses understatements to establish a tone of sympathy. By acknowledging that parental advice is often“ascribed to the moroseness, the imperiousness, or the garrulity of old age” in lines 3 to 8, Chesterfield seeks to build an illusion of understanding with his son, setting the scene to present his assertions in disguise of friendly advice.
What also worked for me was having an interactive and good standing with Mr.Hall because he tried his best to integrate me into the class. Which was very helpful because it kept me busy, attentive and also not just sitting
Tawney Nodland – As I look back over the past semester of English Composition, I realize that I have grown as a writer. Not onlyhas my understanding of the writing process changed, my whole attitude towards composition has too. This composition course has made a significant impact on my learning experience and has given me tools to take forward into my future educational and professional goals. Throughout this course, I have discovered things about myself as a writer and know some of my strengths and weaknesses. I now feel more prepared for future writing assignments, whether for work or for school.
I wasn’t able to master the materials in the beginning, and it hurt me throughout the rest of the semester. I tried to recover by staying on top of homework, visiting the BLC and my TA’s office hours, and studying even more for exams. In the end, the hard work didn’t pay off, for I still received a D in the class. Although I passed, I am still disappointed in the grade I received and my experience in the class as a whole.
I have improved vastly in certain areas of the class, such as constructing drafts, learning MLA documentation, and becoming familiar with my audience. I deserve to pass English 1121 because I have fulfilled all of the learning outcomes required for the course. My writing skills have improved enormously in this class. I have learned the importance of writing several drafts. Creating a rough draft and then simply changing a few things would then produce a poorly written paper.
As each writing assignments is graded, I realize how much I have improved as a writer by the grade and the fewer mistakes that I have made in them. As each time the grammatical and spelling mistakes are fewer on each paper. I want to share how I have grown as a writer on second semester by being in class and reflecting on my previous assignments. Even though there weren’t many writing assignments this semester. There were some assignments that I have done poorly on.
As a Teaching assistant, at the university is Saskatchewan I effectively assessed the research proposals of more than 100 students. Each proposal was assessed using guidelines such as class curriculum requirements and the principles of research – such as a clearly stated thesis statement, a clearly defined research question, a representative sample, appropriate method of data collection and analysis, amongst others. On the basis of these requirements, appropriate guidance and advice/feedback was given to student to facilitate an accurately conducted research and by extension a well written final research paper
I have read both challenging and easy books. I have not read anything that has been exceptionally challenging, besides The Cuckoo’s Calling. Next year, I plan to read more challenging books to try
My journey in this English 3001 course during the past ten weeks, and over the course of taking is English class I have grown and learned more that I thought it is necessary for me to know as a student. I have improved in my overall writing skills because if you look at my second in-class essay and the rest of my essay you will see that I have made progress and improvement compare to my diagnostic essay and the first in-class essay. Moreover, now that I have completed the English course my skills are better that I am capable to meet the university standard writing requirements. This English course additionally taught me how powerful the composed word and language can be. This quarter my ability to compose essays and express my thoughts, ideas,
If this had been an individual assignment, it might have been time consuming, but it would have been straightforward because the expectations for the project were clear, and no element of the project was abnormally difficult. Instead, the most challenging aspects of the project were the result of our collaboration. Between scheduling meetings outside of classes, learning to be accountable to one another, and figuring out how to best manage the
