When my father was a high school student he has always thought about studying economics in college. Unfortunately, he did not have the opportunity, because the economics department in Qatar University that time was not equipped with strong faculty members. When I heard my father's story, I got interested in economics and I did internet research about it. Also, I spoke to my father about it specially that his job is related to the field. He told me that international relations and diplomacy are so much interlinked that most of the diplomats discussions and meetings are about economics and trade than politics. From my research, I got to the conclusion that understanding economics and international affairs are very important life skills regardless of what job I do. …show more content…
I believe that this university have an excellent reputation in international affairs. I am also intersted to be among the elite graduates of Georgetown to be able to benefit from the Georgetown network in the future. Moreover, Sheikh Tamim's speech about the importance of equipping ourselves with the knowledge needed to build and support our country made me more determined to do the best in my education. Therefore, I worked hard and made an effort to achieve my goals.
I am also pleased that economics requires a strong base in mathematics which I have and enjoy. My mother who used to be a math teacher made sure that we have those skills. All my life I have extra curriculum activities of mathematics. Sometimes I feel that mathematics is genetic to us. Other than the academics, I am really looking forward to participating in the different activities that the campus provides. For me, being a part of different chapters in clubs is not less important than the academics. It enriches the experience and makes me even more ready for real life through the network in relations I
Harmonizing business courses with opportunities such as internships and studying abroad at the Smeal College is perhaps the most pivotal way in which I will explore my academic endeavors. The chance for me to major in Risk Management with a concentration in real estate and minor in international business is particularly enticing because I will have the opportunity to learn from situations where I will be forced to think on my feet; the leadership skills that I have learned thus far from National Honor Society and from my real estate internship will allow me to succeed in doing so. Likewise, international travel is a way for me to enhance my knowledge of business on a global scale; by traveling, I will become globally conscious,
Through BCC coursework, conversations, and research, several potential professions were no longer of interest. Given the results of the American presidential election, I wanted to delve more into a different realm of management with the advantages of knowledge in international relations to gain how statesmanship might be involved. Hence, I am applying to the College of Arts and Sciences as Undecided to take more strenuous classes and acquire broader resources to clarify my thoughts before my junior
I decided to study math when I was in middle school because I excelled in proving theorems and postulates of geometry, compared to other subjects. It only took me a little time to finish the assignment and I was able to verify more abstract theories, which were all extra homework given by my math teacher. Learning math helped me improve my critical and logical thinking about math problems and life situations. It deepened my faith in the necessity of continuous mathematical
Many thanks for the people visiting us here at the London School of Economics and Political Science. We appreciate your stay and would like your engagement in my speech. We live in an exciting new time where we people interact more and more with each other. Our world looks drastically different than it did two hundred years ago, were Britain first started to set the multi-cultural gears in motion with our ancestor’s colonization and international trading with the world. I am proud to be here two hundred years later, studying international economics at a school thriving with many new people from all around the world.
Its international orientation is also something that makes me fit for it since I myself have followed an international undergraduate program, speak four languages (English, French, Spanish and Dutch), have resided in three different countries and have two
I firmly believe that Stephen M. Ross School of Business is a program for future global leaders. My current career ambition is to find suitable role within an international organization, such as the World Bank. In addition, I wish to generate economic change in Latin America. Thus, unique qualities that attract me to the Stephen M. Ross School of Business include global student experiences, impactful faculty research, partnerships with top international schools, and a global network.
Born and raised in a small city in the Andes Mountain ranges of Colombia, I was able to discover and form my identity from a very unique and distinct perspective. Essentially, my parents and siblings, which are my foundation, raised me to be an integral individual defined by strong morals, beliefs, and most important, faith in an almighty creator. From an early age, I was motivated to expand my passions for learning, adventuring, and exploring; all of which have further encouraged my physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual growth. I’ve attained a fascination for the biological sciences and a quest for knowledge and understanding; which was initially encouraged by the outstanding education I received at a Catholic school, or as I used to call it, my second home.
Being a double economics and mathematics major student at Union College shaped me to be an economics PhD candidate with strong academic backgrounds and various research experiences. Math strengthens my logical thinking and economics integrates my thinking abilities in practical applications, such as analyzing China’s trade. After taking macroeconomics, I was assigned as an official tutor for that course. The experience of being the first sophomore economics tutor both improved my oral English skills and upgraded my understanding of course materials from learning-level to explaining and exploring-level by helping other students. When I was taking Seminar in the Global Economic Issues with Professor Sener, I realized the international economy
Being born in Puerto Rico, I was raised with different customs and celebrating different traditions. After moving to the United States at the age of 10, I began to further understand how ethnicity plays a pivotal part in an individuals life. How the individual thinks and acts are tied down to where he/she comes from. With that mindset, at an early age I began to develop a global mentality. Obtaining an undergraduate in business has sparked my interested in further learning about how business are conducted globally.
I consider myself extremely blessed to be able to live here in the United States, earn an undergraduate degree, and then start my career with a fortune 500 company. I know how unlikely this opportunity is for a young child, grown up in a third-world country. I left Pakistan, the country I was born and raised in at an early age of 18 to pursue better opportunities. With a completely different culture and language we as a family knew it will be a tough transition. But it wasn’t until I arrived in the U.S. when I realized the scale of each challenge I was up against.
From my first semester in college I could not decide what career I want to be in. After a long time thinking and researching I narrowed down my interest to political science, and my interests have directed me towards international relations and laws. I am fascinated by how the states of the world cooperate together to build a safe place for everyone. American government places a huge role in the world and many countries need American Foreign Service to help them with their problems. After hearing Melissa Martinez, I understood maybe it is good to think about working in Foreign Service.
Studying Business at A-Level exposed me to the fascinating theories and concepts behind the operation of markets and Economies regardless of size and location in the world. Subsequently, in order to build upon my interests, I have grasped every opportunity that offered me a chance to do so. Participation in the National Citizen Service has helped me further my knowledge in Business beyond my syllabus. In particular I enjoyed marketing and pitching to entrepreneurs which allowed me to gain a personal insight on the organisation aspect of business management. Being educated in A level Psychology, has been a major noteworthy advantage in the business world, whether it's working with clients or marketing a new product.
I am not sure what career I want to pursue however a degree in International Business will open many doors for me. I have recently participated in the BEAMER society, which has given me an insight into the possible degrees and careers I could pursue. Here, I have been able to expand my knowledge in areas such as economics and business through this society, I have been able to acquire the knowledge of different degree options available to me and I have become more informed about different universities. During high school I was also an anti-bullying ambassador, this introduced me to teamwork as I would have to work with other ambassadors in doing what is best for others.
Since learning AP Economics in my high school year, I have always desired to further my studies in economics. More specifically, I have wanted to study international relations in economics. Recently, Donald Trump has won the presidential election and his inauguration is expected to bring huge change in the world’s economy and foreign policies. These emerging crises have come to my attention and have sparked my curiosity. By applying for PEARL at Keio University, I plan to gain further insight into the topic.
