1) Q: Beah moves around in time as he tells his story, flashing forward and backward. What is the effect of this technique of the overall meaning of the text? Would it be more effective if he stuck to strict chronology? Why or why not?
As I engage this unit’s Read and Attend assignments, I find that my understanding of plagiarism is not as fully developed as I had previously thought. Our Unit 3 Attend assignment shares that “in a general sense plagiarism may be caused by carelessness” and these circumstances frequently precipitate the lack of care required while writing (Bethel University, 2014, p. 11). The academic integrity tutorial provided additional information which I found valuable as well. Common themes within each unit assignment provide strands of continuity, while assisting with a more comprehensive understanding. It is my opinion, the type of plagiarism that is hardest for me to avoid is “plagiaphrasing”, also known as “lazy paraphrasing” (Bethel University, 2014, p. 12).

I started to learn to create two citations between MLA “Work Cited” bibliography and one APA “References” Bibliography in Library class once a week. I am excited to learn about the citing sources as I did research other classes. I always made mistakes when I did a research paper and I had no idea how to create MLA style, and what was different between MLA format and APA format. The teacher taught me how to write in a paper format and use a Noodle Tools in a computer system.
Am now able to set my paper in the correct format. Also the assignment on writing in science vs business writing and writing in science vs humanities has enlightened me on the differences in writing and citing in MLA vs APA. For example, the source page for MLA is called work cited and APA references. For in-text citation MLA uses the last name of the author and the page
II The book describes African Americans in the time period of slavery through civil war and civil rights revolution, to 1980s, after the segregation of the black race. The book mainly focus on the speech done by social activists of different time period. In addition of the reasons and different beliefs of those social activist had. Such as Frederick Douglass, who believe we can’t wait for somebody else to fight freedom for us.
Synthesis #2 Draft #1 The poems “Songs of Experience: The Chimney Sweeper” and “Hymn to the Intellectual Beauty” written by William Blake and Percy Bysshe Shelley touch on the topic of religion and the lack of importance of this faith in people’s lives. Religion does not bring truth and meaning to life as it is perceived to doreword this . There are topics of greater importance in one’s life, faith is not only put in God and his teachings but a much greater power. Blake followed the religious teachings of Christianity growing up, and still expressed religion as not being the most important belief in his life, ironic for a man of strong beliefs for his religion.
In any school you have attended, plagiarism is a situation that a writer should not put themselves in under any circumstances. When reading the essay “Something Borrowed,” Malcolm Gladwell gave insight into the flaws of plagiarism that writers may not have thought about before. The first being that plagiarism is never acceptable (927). The second issue with plagiarism is recognizing the differences that can or cannot “inhibit creativity” (931). Being inspired by another person's work can help and guide you to build your own ideas, but simply taking their work and claiming it as yours is not permitted.
Referencing is a method to cite information from different sources, and it is beneficial for all authors to provide evidence accurately. There are two most common referencing styles such as Harvard style and APA style, however, the APA style is mostly used in writings related to health science. The reason why referencing is important in health science is that it helps to offer credits to the original authors who have been used in other people’s work which is necessary for avoiding plagiarism. For instance, if doctors were to write an article about health-related issues such as smoking using other’s expert work, they would need to cite those sources by using appropriate in-text citation or reference list. Moreover, nursing students
Viewers of NCIS are finding themselves slightly bummed that the season of the popular show has come to a conclusion. Summer is always a slow time when it comes to TV finales. While viewers wait, writers are planning new fall episodes of the popular show. Of course, fans appreciate the effort going into the upcoming season. It’s just so hard to wait.
One hundred and eighty days per year. Five days per week. Fifty minutes per day. This is the amount of time an English teacher has to educate their students in one school year alone. In this short period, English teachers should be allowed to teach the curriculum they see fit for their students.
Kelsey Brown Professor Fenicle ENG 121-4F3 3 December 2017 Synthesis Essay Among many colleges, students are using mind enhancement drugs to improve their performance in class. When a person uses the drugs (i.e. Adderall, Ritalin), it tricks their brain into rewarding itself for doing an unpleasant task which helps the user get more done (Matthew, Glaser, Gerhardt). College students are known to use these drugs for writing papers late at night or for taking exams.
Synthesis Essay As a senior with six months to go until graduation, looking back on the last 13 years of school there has been good and bad things. Conformity was never really a big problem in my school. Students never had to wear the same thing or eat the same thing at lunch. We always could kind of do things our own way, but also follow the rules at the same time.
Many kids in this generation have grown up being told to get good grades in order to get a scholarship, which in turn allows them to go to college. Is college worth it? From my research I have concluded that college is in fact worth it. Although many college graduates end up having debt, key aspects such as wider range of opportunities, connections and higher pay add up to an overall conclusion supporting that college is in fact worth the cost. A major benefit of going to college is the amount of opportunity that arises from having a degree.
It’s not fair to the people who actually write what you are stealing because they get no credit for it. There is never anything good that comes from plagiarism. Teachers and college professors know when something is plagiarized. Sometimes the plagiarized material does not meet
