Michael Hiltzik wrote,”The Wrong Way to Think about California Water”, which is an article arguing against some of the ways individuals think about the drought in California. For the most part, I agree with the author’s argument. He touches on the topics of bottled water, almond trees, turf, and the idea that,”There isn’t just one California”(Hiltzik). Initially, Michael Hiltzik discusses the bottled water industry.
Espenak (2016) observes that the Daylight Savings Time idea, which may be credited to Benjamin Franklin, had the objective of maximizing on daylight hours by forward shifting of the clock by an hour in the spring and backward shifting it again during the fall. The idea was implemented during the World War I in Canada and the United States and many other European countries. In the United States, the legislative house enacted and passed a bill where Daylight Savings Time was to commence on the last Sunday of the fourth month of a calendar year and end on the last Sunday of October. President Lyndon Johnson signed the bill into law in 1966. In 2005, a new energy bill was signed by President Bush that extended the Daytime savings by four more weeks (Monalisa, 2013).

After reviewing the case study on Tanglewood and their methods of recruitment, the three ideas I would suggest to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their recruitment measures are as followed; 1) decrease the number of methods used, 2) shorten recruitment time, and 3) more in-house interviews. I would decrease the number of methods used in recruitment for various reasons, but the most pressing one would be costs. From what I have seen in Tanglewood’s information given, using a staffing service can cost up to $70,000 to set up per store. This is $20,000 more than all the other methods combined. I feel that the cost of this one method is more likely unequal to the number of employees that it provides.

Baker, MD and chief medical officer of Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), writing an article for the STAT Magazine, discloses information regarding the pharmaceutical drug pricing controversy, in his case EpiPens, that affects many middle-classed Americans. By using the appeals of ethos, logos, and pathos, Baker presents a viewpoint that is antagonistic of the business practices pharmaceutical companies have been following for the last decade. One of the ways Baker acknowledges their argument is by appealing to the emotion of his audience with his introductory sentence that shows how parents are forced to make hard choices surrounding the health of their children. “All too often, parents of children with food allergies are forced to make hard choices. Many are splitting up twin packs of EpiPens, others are keeping them past their expiration dates, delaying filling the prescription,

Over the years , a research has been conducted by the Public Health ,James .C saying that “ young adults react differently to alcohol, getting drunk faster and being less likely to know when to stop”(2013, Pg: ½). Over the years in America food and how it is consumed has changed, and we seem to actually be eating more unhealthy despite advances in modern science and technology. In Michael Pollan’s book, “In Defense of Food”, Pollan talks about this idea, and how food itself has been replaced by the nutrients in them. Today’s development of food science has done more harm than good, and the food industry has become industrialized. People have to avoid the new “Western diet” and need to go back to the natural way of eating healthy foods. When I arrived at college, I completely changed my diet for good after just a single week in, as I had a realization I needed to eat healthier to transform my relationship with not only food, but with my body and mind.
