For example, book evidence says that“Animals are locked in labs and are treated inhumanely. They are also being injected with vaccines and medicines that could be toxic to their bodies, also along with the fact that their petrified in the lab. Unfortunately, despite all the protests against animal testing, scientists will not stop. Some animals in labs have died from dehydration, starvation, and worse.” More book evidence states that “In the most extreme cases, activists broke into labs and destroyed equipment” These poor animals are being abused and beaten because of testing.
Are Zoos Unethical By:Kalynn Deppe An issue that has been hotly debated since the brink of zoos has been whether they are ethical or not. Although some believe that zoos can be beneficial to animals, thousands of research has shown this not to be true. The main reasons zoos are devious is because, there artificial environments are harmful, the animals are more prone to diseases, and it can damage children's views on society.
Other medications may have no curing effects at all. People want to use animals, because they are biologically like animals in many ways. However, abuse is rampant in the scientific research area. However, evidence still shows that ninety-five percent of an animals are not covered by the AWA. Without the AWA, the Animal Welfare Acts, animals are left vulnerable to
As stated in Humane Society International, the term animal testing “refers to procedures performed on living animals for purposes of research into basic biology and diseases, assessing the effectiveness of new medicinal products, and testing the human health and environmental safety of consumer and industry products such as cosmetics, household cleaners, food additives, pharmaceuticals and industrial/agro-chemicals.” Statistics reveal that, each year millions of animals such as dogs, cats, rats, mice, ferrets, hamsters and monkeys experience physical and mental torture due to scientific practices. This poor animals, every year, are dissected, infected, injected, gassed, burned and blinded in hidden laboratories all over the world, most of the time without anesthetic or pain killers. If they are not killed by the testing, the animals are brutally killed.
The definition of animal testing is the procedures that involve living animals for the purpose of research. Some methods of animal testing include exposure to drugs and chemicals, genetic manipulation, water and food withdrawal, infliction of injuries, etc. This article is extremely biased. It tells all about the negative details of animal testing and the harming to the animals, but it doesn’t include the benefits of animal testing. It talks about the history of developments in the medical field but denies the fact that animal testing has helped those developments.
During animal testing, many animals are killed after experimenting on them and the others remain alive with injuries and in captivity. 95% of the animals tested are not protected by Animal Welfare Act including mice, fish and birds and they are all suffering abuse and mistreatment. Even with the protection provided by the Animal Welfare Act, some horrific cases of animal abuse in the laboratories wasn’t prevented. Some people also find it immoral to test and experiment on animals for the human benefit saying that animals do feel and suffer like humans and so it is unfair to experiment on them what cannot be experimented on humans only because they do not have the ability to express their feelings. However, animal rights supporters do not oppose the farmers who kill animals daily for food but call the scientists cruel for killing animals for the advancement of medical field although, 99% of animals killed are by farmers while only 1% are by scientists (Ian, Should Animals Be Used for Scientific or Commercial
We need to stop makeup, cleaning products, medicine and all other chemical based products being tested on animals not only because it is horrendously cruel but there is also a huge amount of money that is wasted in the process of testing. According to most statistics, human results only agree 5-25 percent of the time which means that the process of animal testing is practically pointless as the results hardly ever benefit our knowledge of how to improve the products
Animal testing is cruel, unjust, and wasteful, and it needs to stop. It is used to test cosmetics, to gain scientific knowledge, and for tests in schools. The Humane Society states that animal testing is tests performed on live animals for basic biology, medicinal, safety, or health research. Even small procedures have the capabilities to cause the animal high stress or discomfort. Some animals are used in future experiments, but most are killed soon after the tests.
Animal experimentation is unacceptable because it is unethical. The article “Animal Experimentation” it states, “many people object to the use of animals in scientific studies because the animals are denied their freedom and often suffer serious injury and discomfort.” People disagree with animal experimentation because the animals do not have the freedom to choose. Animals cannot speak for themselves to tell whether or not they want to get tested on, because of this then the animals that are tested on suffer a lot of discomfort and injuries. Another reason why animal experimentation is unethical because it is unreliable.
Chimpanzees, mice, dogs, and fish are some animals which is frequently used in the experiment. Many of this experiments (which was conducted on animals) contributed to life-saving cures and treatments such as the discovery of insulin, polio vaccine, etc. However, animal testing for medication also drew controversy and debate. Some people, especially the Animal Rights Group, consider that this kind of experiment is cruel and inhumane therefore it has to be banned. But, I believe animal testing for medication should not be banned because
