MacArthur was a very brave and commanding general. His Thayer award speech acceptance passed the torch to the next generation of leaders. Throughout his speech, he uses logos to show what it means to be a military leader. He goes on to say how he will always feel “a sense of pride… which will be with me always: Duty, Honor, Country.” He uses this statement as a logo and achievement for these cadets to look up to.
Modern society is far from the time of Beowulf, but consists of many similarities. Many values and acts of Beowulf are still present in us today. Wiglaf represents loyalty, courage, and honor. I compared the United States Army to Wiglaf, because they show and hold the same values.
If every soldier who was fighting gave up, what would our country be like today? Soldiers are honored because they stay where they are and fight for their country. They fight for what they believe in, they fight for what they believe is right. These people have made the choice in their lives to serve their country and honor their country because it truly means something to them. They made the choice to leave everything behind them, and fight for others so that they don’t have to.
They are also like professional athletes because the soldiers of the Army strive to be the greatest at what they do. The Army Profession is a special combination of experts gifted with the knowledge of design, support vowing to serve and defend the constitution and the people of America. The Army Profession is made up of uniformed and non-uniformed members. Both Professionals have to take the Army oath and become sworn in. All Army Professionals have an obligation to gain knowledge and skills, then pass it on to their comrades.
As I work my way up through the ranks taking on new responsibilities, I will be prepared for the basic needs of an officer. With an officer job, I could respond to more serious and upgraded duties to work successfully and effectively as a team captain. I also feel it is my obligation as an American citizen to pay homage to our veterans and country. It is important to keep the legacy of America alive, and as an officer I can see myself on the forefront. After seeing the multitude of honor veterans receive, my donation to them would be to continue their labor of freedom in the Navy.
"Our flag honors those who have fought to protect it, and is a reminder of the sacrifice of our nation's founders and heroes. As the ultimate icon of America's storied history, the Stars and Stripes represents the very best of this nation. " This is a quote from Congressman Joe Barton. To me this quote summarizes why flag protection is important, because the flag represents several things. Firstly and most importantly the Flag represents those that have govern their lives and sacrificed so much to ensure that the flag can fly to represent the continued freedom through the past, present, and future of the United States of America.
Being a profession of arms is an expert, ethical leader. This leader has mastered his/her soldiering skills and technical skills while embodying the Army Values and warrior ethos. A profession of Arms is recognizable by other Army peers and the community. It gives Soldiers a sense of pride in this volunteer only Army, who master the military profession. Soldiers who are profession of Arms serve as prime examples for citizens who want to be Soldiers to follow.
With the whole nation included in our wartime endeavors more people would be apt to care about what is going on overseas and what our military men are being put up to and the situations they endure. Let’s bring back the draft, restore our military numbers, and make sure that every single eligible soldier is being put to use in the most efficient and effective way to protect the freedom and home of the United States of America that we all call home. In the words of Franklin Roosevelt, “Each of these heroes stands in the unbroken line of patriots who have dared to die, that freedom might live and grow and increase in its
Likewise, it can be reasoned that servicemen and women represent the military community and its values: the work that they do bears upon the image of the United States Military. In addition, the U.S. Military does virtuous work through the serviceman and woman, which I am grateful for: protection and freedom. With this, when I honor the service of the individual American Hero, I honor the community responsible for training each male and female soldier superiorly and whole-heartedly. In respecting the U.S Military for its training, the entire military family is revered for their courageous service and sacrifice to America. In Mr. Mark Forester’s case, I honor him by honoring those who belong to and represent the family and the community that he also belongs to and
SPC DaBrent Nobles Military Customs and Courtesies I am a soldier of the United States Army, and when I took the vow to become such, I signed up to uphold a certain standard when in public and behind closed doors. I have the upmost respect for my peers and superiors around me who took the same vow. We all vowed to be away from our families for unknown amounts of time to protect and defend my country and its allies. I also have pride in what I do because I know it is necessary to keep my country running.
Among the participants were the Native Americans, who enrolled voluntarily in huge numbers. Their ability to learn made them perfect soldiers who aided the U.S. Army in eliminating enemy threat. 44,000 Native Americans served in the World War 2 thereby providing the required manpower. Despite the presence of challenges, the Native Americans worked hard to safeguard the integrity of their Nation. Up to date, they are recognized as a group that was very committed to the war effort.
Patriotism is defined as fervent love of one’s country and allegiance to its government and institutions. Many Americans have this in common we all no matter race, color, or language have a passion for our country. Most of the people living here are immigrants and chose to come to America. As our founding fathers debated over how the government should be run, because they feared
A person's view on culture heavily influence how one sees and views the world around them. People are influenced by the cultures surrounding them as well as where they live. In the personal essay Two Ways to Belong in America ,written by Bharati Mukherjee, Bharati and her sister Mira were both born in Calcutta, India , but later moved to the United States. Bharati loved America and said "I am an American citizen and she is not" speaking to how she had embraced and been influenced by her surroundings but her sister had not.
“The wall of Jericho” in America After thinking for a while about what is happening in America, I came to a decision to express my opinion in words. I will keep it short, ridiculous and wonderful to exploit my thoughts fully. Before he became the president of the United States of America, Donald Trump promised the Americans that he will build a wall on the US-Mexico border. He related Mexicans to drug smuggling, raping among other crimes and the wall will be the only solution since it will reduce their flow to America.
For an eight year old girl to fly by herself from Africa to America was a little scary especially when she's traveling by herself for the first time. I remember the day I first enter the USA. I was in the airport looking around waiting for someone to get me , while I was looking around I saw strange things i never seen before . I was alone at that moment seeing other people interact with each other. At that moment I looked up and saw the sign USA and realized I was in America.
