Argumentative Essay: Is America A Free Country?

Currently, only 5 of the 178 countries measured by the “Freedom Index” were labeled as “free.” Being a free country requires that it scores higher than an 80 on this assessment. This test measures 4 broad pillars: “the rule of law, limited government, regulatory efficiency, and open markets.” This report shows that only about 0.02% of countries on Earth are completely free. For example, the United States of America is rank 12 on the chart with 76.2 points, while North Korea is ranked 178, with only 1.3 points. This shows that freedom is rare.

Besides, there was not necessary of the constitutional amendment because the right to bear arms had missing its own usefulness. It is because the violent crime and a large proportion of this violent is gun-related. United States has one of the highest rates. The gun violence had incorporate the biggest volume of violence in the United States according to the U.S Department of Justice. For example, in 1995, about 60.3% of homicides involved handguns, and 68 % involved guns; in 1996, about 34500 people unfortunately passed away from gunfire in United States, and of these deaths, approximately 45% resulted from homicides. However, for every death shooting, there are at least three nonfatal shootings (Shay et al, 1999). According to my research, there were about 310 million in the country of United States. There were about 50% of households have gun in 1960s. At the same time, the number of guns had increased to one gun per person. It means that if someone owned a gun, then the person will own several guns too. So, America

America is the universal symbol of freedom. But is it really free? America at one time was defined by freedom, however now America defines freedom. Thus, altering the definition of the term. The founding fathers of America made specific rules for us to follow to keep peace and unity in our society, but over time those rules have been tampered with. Keeping only key components to make it seem as if it hasn’t changed. When the colonists from England traveled over to America they had a utopia of freedom waiting for them. They had no rules or guidelines to follow or anyone to impress. The freedom had no charge. It was free.

In today society, people are easily looked by their college degree level and they can be judged by their degree. But not everybody can afford to go to college in order to get a degree. People have different reasons of not going to college but most of the reasons are because of the tuition. Tuition are too high and they can not afford it. If the free college situation does not make a great effect on the economy, I believe that college should be free because free college can encourage more students to go to college, earn a degree and can decide on their future without the worry of paying debt and contributing to create a better society with their knowledges.

Civil liberties are rights guaranteed to citizens in the Constitution that the government cannot interfere with, however, in the name of national security, they do. The government sometimes finds it necessary for Americans to give up some of their basic rights to keep the nation protected, but many people find this unnecessary. A law-abiding citizen’s extremely personal information should not be essential to finding terroristic threats within this society. Under no circumstances should an American citizen’s civil liberties be violated in a time of war or crisis, because those are assured rights that are most valuable to their freedom during national conflicts.

According to the dictionary, the definition of Americanism is a custom, trait, belief, etc., peculiar to the United States of America or its citizens. In 1776 when the United States was established and we declared independence from Britain, we got many rights and freedoms. Those rights and freedoms are still very important today to making Americans who they are and what they believe.

Throughout the annals of American history, the advocation for freedom, and the absorption of ideals such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness have been at the forefront of the American belief. These beliefs were implemented in 1776, through the Declaration of Independence. This document was ratified by recalcitrant Americans who would not tolerate subjection to tyrannical rule. The American people hoped this document would seal their fate in relation to Europe, and prove to Europe, and frankly the entire world, that they were a separate, sufficient nation. But as the years unfolded, the realization that America would continue to be considered an inferior nation arose. European countries such as England and France continued to undermine American ideals of freedom and did not adhere to their belief of liberty. In 1812, America declared war against Great Britain. The question soon arose as to why America would declare war against the most powerful country in the world.

Anyone in the world with an occasional source of internet has no choice but to see the seemingly outrageous news stories, posted weekly on events in the US. American’s have made their distrust in the government more than obvious, which in many cases, the government has provoked. The largest debate in the states today is the with the concept of freedom and where the lines are drawn between social security, equality, and one’s rights. Freedom is and always has been heavily emphasized in the development of the 50 states. It’s brought peace and war both figuratively and literally. At a moment when America should be more equal and free than ever, why do so many citizens feel their freedom is being threatened? Freedom of speech is a

America the brave, wasn’t so beautiful during its early years. It hasn’t always been the land of the free like how it was instilled in us when we were children. I’ve grown up thinking that America had been such a place. There was countless times that America was faced with making decisions that were incredibly undemocratic. For instance , Women’s rights, religious freedom, and rights for slaves were virtually nonexistent. Occasionally the colonist made the right choices like indentured servants, who were people that worked for a certain amount of time then were allowed to go.People don’t know the truth about the unhinged history of Colonial America.

America, the land of the free, does this reign true after the years of war and amendments to the Constitution that have been implemented? Our nation has gone through so many changes. Is there even a resemblance to the original system the framers of the Constitution envisioned? The majority of the Constitution has remained constant over the years, and those changes that have been made were for the amelioration of the country.

Is Georgia a free state. To me my opinion I say yes. Why? Most people are able to speak their mind. Therefore i think Georgia is a free state. I was ask this question by my mom she said "Do you think we are living the american dream". My response was hard to describe. I said no i don 't think we are living the american dream.

In “Let America be America again,” “The Latin Deli,” and “Two ways to Belong in America” America has been proven that it is only free for some but not for all. In these stories, they insist that that America has only been free and equal towards its American born citizens. They explain how most of the immigrants have been discriminated against and treated poorly. Most of them tell how they have been forced to make their own communities because of how they have been treated. The immigrants have all been discriminated against and are not free unlike American born citizens.

Freedom of speech is the freedom all people have, to express what they consider and express any opinions. It is an ability to express our opinions freely without being punished or censored. All people throughout the world are entitled and must have right to freedom of speech. However, how much do we know about freedom of speech: when did it occur? Does every countries have it? Is there negative and positive sides?
