When a child chooses to do his homework, instead of spending time by entertaining is great progress and having a sense of self-obligation for him. Based on my experience a few years ago I had a slightly different opinion about this theme. This was the period, while I was going through adolescence, and as a normal child, homework was same as being locked in a cage. But, soon I acknowledged that this hard work was for my benefit and after realizing this fact, discontent turned into satisfying habit and daily rhythm. Some need a hint for this realization, but for others, it comes by …show more content…
My essay started with some questions,to grab an attention of the reader and I appeared fair-minded and morally likable as I talked for students benefit from the beginning, using ethos. After stating an opinion about this theme, my thesis statement is proved by using indicated meanings and reasons. In a second paragraph,I used the personal emotional example and unified it with others.Counter-argument is supported by real life examples and emotional experiences,to which I found a solution to prove that everything is solvable. Finally, I wrote a conclusion in simple but persuasive words, once again to influence the reader,in this case, the students. So that, my essay was quite reasonable, supported with arguments and persuasive, but not in an annoying way and I think I deserve an A- for this
Since this was a timed essay I made a lot of mistakes, and it was also very difficult to revise
The Declaration of Independence includes five parts. The five parts are the introduction, the preamble, the indictment of George III, the denunciation of the British people, and the conclusion. All five parts have a definite purpose and are very important to the document itself. The introduction serves to point readers to having a positive view of America and sets up for the rest of the Declaration.
Down with Homework I agree with Alfie Kohn, when he states the strain that enormous amount of homework causes. But I disagree with his opinion in completely eliminating homework. We cannot eliminate homework because that will destroy the bridge that keeps students connected to their books after they leave school. I do however agree with Kohn in the recent, increase in homework children are getting.
Why Students Shouldn’t Have Homework There are around 365 days in a year, and in a school year, there are around 180 days. From the beginning of the school year to the end, the most common thing that students least like, is homework. Coming home after a long day of school, then having responsibilities to do at home, not to mention some students have after school activities which take up around 2 hours if not more. Homework for students is a barrier that makes it difficult for them to have any kind of social life, or spend time with their family. There are many reasons why students shouldn’t have homework, during this essay people will learn why having homework isn’t helping the student, except making things more difficult for them.
This was very challenging because I am very opinionated person so I had to approach this essay, from a neutral perspective and not sound harsh. It took me two revisions to finally get it
Paragraph One - Introduction Do you think kids should be assigned homework? Studies show that if kids and teens have at least 10 minutes of homework every night their test scores might go up. Also, even though kids say that they get stressed out most of them just want to get out of doing their homework. Not only this, but, they will get smarter or just stay smart. They don’t have to get smarter with every piece of homework they do, but at least they won’t fall behind on their work.
Over recent years, the debate has gotten more attention as to whether students should have homework as homework has seemed to increase. Students having homework does not benefit them in their academic skills and should be abolished. In countries like Japan and Denmark, the students don’t have much homework, but exceed the United States on international tests. A lot of tests have proven that homework does not help improve a student’s performance of skills.
Homework is like a boat with a hole in its side if there is a leak in the boat then the boat is useless. The water will rush in and fill the boat with cold, dark water. The same goes for homework, it is useless. All the nights kids spend with hours and hours of homework, all the tears and stress are not helping kids in school. Numerous amounts of today's kids have excessive amounts of homework.
An average student would spend hours on schoolwork a day, which can be very stressful. A high school student will use half of their day around school relation. Almost all elementary to high school students will likely to agree that homework should not be assigned. The majority of students complain about homework yet teachers don’t usually understand why. While homework gives benefits to students, unnecessary homework should not be assigned due to the fact that there are enough school hours, it consumes time, and the development of poor health is encouraged.
ENG-122 Reflective Essay My writing process has changed tremendously over the course of this class. I feel more accomplished, confident and I feel sometimes that my ideas and thoughts just come in to my mind out of nowhere and I start writing about anything now. I pay attention to my punctuation and grammar more as I have polished them more now, not only when I write but then others write as well. I am constantly looking for errors and I highly think this is helping me a lot in my career.
Homework does, in fact, encourage good learning habits. It teaches students time management skills and responsibility. If Atwater claims that he is too tired to do his homework, he should learn how to best manage his time. A student could come home and take a break (take a nap, eat a snack, watch an episode of their favorite show) before beginning his or her homework.
My expectations coming into the course were high and remained high throughout the duration of the course. The essays I wrote in the class really challenged me to progress in my writing skills. The illustration essay really served as an example of what not to do when writing at a college level. My approach of the essay was really misunderstood and grammatically incorrect.
Homework is beneficial when you have the right amount of homework. With homework you learn life skills, and finally it helps you master a skill. Furthermore, homework is beneficial to students. First of all, homework is beneficial when you have the right amount of homework. Studies show that with the right amount of homework 2nd graders have done better in math, 3rd and 4th better in english and vocabulary, 5th in social studies, and high schoolers in american history as well as shakespeare.
A reason that homework maybe necessary is coming from Brayden Mau, he said “Yes, because it helps kids learn on what they are doing and they can learn the material better.” One reason that homework may not be necessary is coming from Hayden Karpinski and Allen Leitner. Hayden said “No, We do everything in school that we need to know. Being at home is our own time, not theirs.” and Allen said “No, if you have questions you can 't ask a teacher.”
Above all, homework allows the students to gain responsibility, time-management, perseverance, and self-esteem. “The act of completing homework has benefits in terms of developing good habits in students.” This shows that, students are gaining many skills from homework. This also shows that, homework isn’t a waste of time and students do benefit from homework. “Homework also teaches students how to problem solve, think independently, and build an understanding and interest for the issues in our society.”
