My vision of America is drastically different from today’s America. I envision an America where global warming is not an issue or even part of our vocabulary. There would be no rise in temperatures causing the polar ice caps and glaciers to melt making the sea levels rise. Without this rise in temperature there would be less droughts, spread of diseases and the destruction of ecosystems throughout the world. More importantly, our air quality would be so much better. There are many reasons people blame for global warming, but I think it can be traced back to the beginning of America. I believe my vision of America could have happened if we had treated the Native Americans better, worked with them instead of against them and learned from them how to treasure and respect our Earth. …show more content…

In the beginning the colonists and Native Americans had a coexistence. They shared knowledge of planting crops and participated in trade exchange. But as the colonists hunted animals to near extinction and continually encroached upon the Native American’s land, sides were drawn. Many Native Americans fought in the French and Indian War, the American Revolution, and the War of 1812 against the Americans in trying to stop territorial expansion and assimilation. As a result of these 200 years of confrontation, the colonists saw the Native Americans as enemies, inferior, and an obstacle in their goal of becoming rich through their acquisition of land and gold. As such, there was no hesitation for President Andrew Jackson to sign the Indian Removal Act, which was to relocate the southern Indians out of their land to the area west of the Mississippi
