Medically, caffeine is known as trimethylxanthine and serves as good medication source for certain illness like low blood pressure, mental alertness, gallbladder disease, type two diabetes, weight loss and so much more. Caffeine is used by mouth or rectally in combination with painkillers (such as aspirin and acetaminophen) and a chemical called ergotamine for treating migraine-headaches. It is also used with painkillers
With this being said, the author includes this in his essay because he wants to show that it is possible to go without caffeine, but people consume caffeinated drinks in order to feel awake, alert, and focused. In addition, Gladwell includes scientific information about how caffeine works in humans’ bodies. He does this to show that caffeine has a healthy and safe effect on one’s body, and because of this, “caffeine is such a wonderful stimulant” (250). Therefore, Gladwell effectively incorporates historical figures and scientific knowledge in his essay in order to give strong evidence, and it would be difficult for people to argue against why caffeine has a beneficial impact on

Firstly, the reason I had to quit coffee was simply because I was probably mildly addicted and it wasn’t benefitting me at all. For instance, I’ve had already consumed so much coffee in my life that it was like water to me, the caffeine wouldn’t actually work on me anymore. Furthermore, the only reason I’d consume it
The author writes various sections of information but keeps the main subject of his writing such as caffeine. He includes stories to help demonstrate the progression of caffeine in western culture by talking about revolutions. For instance, he explains the start of the Russian Revolution because of caffeine. This concludes the author’s essay that by giving man a cup of coffee it can lead him to generate a revolution. The stories add depth in his cultural analysis of coffee being a part of a big role in his history.
The bustling society we live in makes our lives fast-paced and abundant in people we meet. We are at the height of our traveling capabilities, which has only further advanced our society and the way we go about our daily lives. However, some suggest that our traveling capabilities have actually done more harm than good. Perry Patetic argues that the mobility of our society has harmed our close relationships, drawing us apart from our loved ones. Patetic states, “The advantages to living in such a highly mobile society are thus outweighed by the disadvantages.”
After all, I had used alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana and didn’t have any problem discontinuing either one of those when I elected to. Caffeine is an addictive, mood-altering stimulant that is acceptable in our culture even though it is in the same category as amphetamines and cocaine and is often more readily abused; Myers and Dewall (2015) observe that “People use stimulants to feel alert, lose weight, or boost mood or athletic performance” (p. 121). There are establishments solely
