Since the day that movies began to have music in them, the whole experience changed for all who watch. The soundtracks that are compiled add deeper emotion and set up the tone and mood for the following scenes. However, there are arguments that the music in the films are not that important and it is just a lost genre. Film music is much more important and one specific example is from the movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. This movie contains a song that actually enhances the scenes in which it is played and viewers and critics should appreciate how how the director and musicians have manipulated the music to work in such ways. Composers have a specific reason for writing songs and how they are presented in the movie. Breakfast at Tiffany’s …show more content…
The audience doesn’t actually tend to listen to it much during the movie or outside of the film. While in some cases this might be true with classical music, other music is actually listened to outside of the movie because they have watched that movie and enjoyed it. Before watching a movie the audience might not have heard certain songs and because the song was in the movie they go home and buy the song and listen to it. Film songs are loved because the movie adds a deeper meaning to the song than it would have by itself. Another argument is that the music is not taken seriously and loses meaning due to narration. Again, I strongly argue that movies give the song more meaning than before. Some movies, such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, add a meaning to a song because the adored character, Holly, sang it and gave it meaning. Before I knew a lot about the movie and the song I really just loved the song and the movie together. Now, I love both the movie and the song, because Holly gave the song a meaning that I can relate to. Film music is not a lost genre, is taken seriously, and is listened to outside of the movie. There are countless examples of music that is still currently listened to outside of the movie, ‘Moon River’ is just one

Another example of a scene that demonstrates the effective use of music is when Yoda, a Jedi Master, is teaching Luke Skywalker to control the force, which is called “Yoda’s Theme”. It is calming and gentle, contrasting the anxiousness of Luke and the tranquility of Yoda. The music is closely related to Yoda’s lessons and teachings, where the theme is carefully constructed. It displays both slow and fast parts, with a simple thoughtful melody and is meant to signal a message, just as Yoda does in his
The landmark motion picture The Jazz Singer (1927) was immensely popular because it, as a sound film, ushered in the talking motion picture. As the arts began to highlight new forms and statements previously used in media, they began to diminish the importance of following traditions in society and the invention of sound in movies is just one example of how the 1920s impacted an entire
The two musicals I have chosen to analyze in this essay is Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I am from India and have watched the DDLJ movie multiple times as it is an extremely popular movie among my peers and family members. Being in a music class in middle school I was introduce to the teacher’s favorite musical which was Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. First and foremost, music in both films are similar because they have a theme revolving around individuals who are in love and are finding ways to overcome the obstacles placed around them by their families and society. The main difference between DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge) and SBSB (Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) is the music, DDLJ has unique
Music is universal, and we all use it for different reasons. It can help you get through a bad day, cheer you up, and it even enhances the mind. What about literature? Usually, when an author refers to a song in literature, the reader doesn’t think too much of it. However, a closer look at the text may change your view.
Music brings you to be deeply focused on the meaning of the words and makes the whole scene even more
Music can make a scene more compelling because it adds emotion to a scene. For example, in the beginning of the documentary when the narrator was talking about Kristallnacht, there was a frantic orchestra accompanying his more and added sound effects of glass breaking. It makes a person feel more anxious and frightened of what is to come and sets the tone for the documentary, since the event of Kristallnacht is one of the best pieces of evidence as to why Jewish people need to be able to escape the terrors of Hitler’s control as soon as possible. Another example is when there would be a transition of a scene to the Klein family, and the music had a melancholy tune to it and it added more to the scene to draw out more emotion from the viewers.
A Clockwork Orange Over the past two weeks we saw, for one more time, that Kubrick has a very distinct and tremendous understanding when it comes to using classical music. For “A Clockwork Orange” the writer of the novel, Anthony Burgess, has some kind of obsession and own taste about classical music, when these two understanding combines we get a unique synthesis, it is mostly Kubrick’s, though. In the following part of this paper, the use of music will be examined in order of the course of events in the movie: Before the first scene, a very mysterious, kind of sad and ominous but hopeful music welcomes us along with a bright red image. It has a very different sound, like it is out of our world. Before we see any of the scenes it is making

Tempo is the speed in which a piece is played, Since there are multiple pieces of music combined in a film score there can be multiple changes in tempo per piece. Classical music on the other hand does not have as many tempo changes because it can be extremely complex. Classical music on the other had is quite a bit more complex in the general terms because it was all hand arranged and written while modern music has a lot of technological help. The tempo of music can influence the mood, a fast tempo can lead to an urgency or it can introduce a tension to the audience.
