In this world, there are too many people that have died from guns. Some of them have died in large-scale attacks, some of them were in a gun accident. Many want more gun control laws to be passed. In fact, the gun control law must be passed through, because this can be more effective to protect people.
Gun control has become a serious problem that The United States of America is facing today. Many people do not know how to control a gun and are not conscious of the lamentable effect that a gun can develop. “Many people have been saying for years that guns are inherently bad objects for a plethora of reasons”(Alex.C). The gun control issue is a controversial topic and many individuals have a different perspective about gun control. While people are arguing that having firearms is a good choice for their own security, others argue that a gun control can be dangerous. So, individuals should not be allowed to own guns because in some cases it can result in a deplorable situation.
Guns have always been a fundamental piece of American life and culture. The Second Amendment of the United States even asserts that firearms are, “necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”. In recent times President Obama has put forth a few executive actions in order to try and reduce gun violence. His proposals mainly focus on fixing and enhancing the background check system, greater education efforts, and more enforcement from the States. For the first time in decades, a majority of United States citizens believe that the right to own guns is more important than controlling gun ownership. Gun control, by definition, is the set of laws which restrict
Gun regulation is a hot topic that has been debated over the years. No one true solution has been found that appeals to all parties. A gun does not necessarily bring harm; however, in the wrong hands it can lead to very dark events. Such events include school shooting or shootings in other heavily occupied places. Throughout the years, many politicians and scholars have given their opinions on such matters and have implemented various changes. These changes were of course received with backlash. It is important to implement changes to our current gun laws now before any other tragedy occurs. Although we currently have very strict gun regulations, nevertheless, we have to improve them or find a completely different approach because, innocent people are being killed, it leads to mass shootings and killings, and it leads to a concern about public safety. It is also
Another reason I do not agree that the government should endorse stricter gun control measures is because I do not believe the gun in itself is the real issue. The real issue behind all the crimes and violence associated with guns is the owner of the gun. Results from multiple surveys stated that citizens of the U.S own around 300 million firearms. When asking those owners what they use their gun for, 67% said self-defense, 66% said hunting, and 41% said target shooting. A study showed that in 2000 guns were used for self-defense roughly 100,000 times a year. Another study showed that roughly 436,000 violent crimes were committed while using a gun (Agresti & Smith, 2010.). These statistics show many different ways guns can be utilized, none of these statistics show that
The article “Gun Control Laws” (2016) emphasizes the point that the United States views on gun control vary from person to person. For example, supporters of the stricter gun control laws believe that by enforcing stronger gun control laws throughout the nation it will decrease the amount of gun violence. In addition to stricter gun laws, supporters believe that the United States needs to make it more difficult to obtain a gun. However, opponents of the gun control laws, that believe the federal government is abusing their power, think that guns are the only way to stop other guns. Furthermore, opponents believe that limiting Americans ability to purchase a firearm is taking away their second amendment. The article’s purpose is to inform readers
George Washington once said, “A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined.” He was correct, citizens have the right to bear arms under the second amendment, but must do so with responsibility. Guns have indeed changed dramatically in the past few hundred years, so have the American people. The definition of Gun Control is laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms. The issue is when we start to blame the gun instead of the person, for the result of their actions. In doing so, tension is created between two completely different people groups. One side states guns must be regulated, while the other side tends to say guns are not the issue. American citizens have the right to bear arms freely, and when an issue arises, the gun is not at fault rather the person must be held responsible. Gun Control infringes upon citizens’ rights, is often ineffective and does not prevent criminals from getting their hands on a gun.
Before mankind knew how to count there has always been violence and massacres of other humans. It is only recently that guns have been used as a tool to complete the task that has always been done. Many people believe that it is safer to live in a world where guns aren’t allowed to be available to the general public however there are still individuals who believe that guns are the only reason that there is peace. Allowing anyone to bear arms brings potential danger to innocent civilians, but it is believed every citizen of the United States of America has the right to own a weapon for a reason such as protection.
No doubt, America is one of the most powerful countries and leads the world’s economic power, but there are still many social issues that cause numerous debates and are urgently needed to be solved. As an illustration, the increasing unemployment, racism, inequality and gun control. Especially, in the recent year, shooting accident happens frequently in the United States, which causes great concern about gun ownership and use in the whole society. Generally, there are two attitudes towards the gun control in the United States. On the one hand, some people firmly urge the government to restrict the gun ownership and gun rights, in order to avoid gun violence. On the other hand, plenty of people still want to protect their rights of owning guns. As far as I am concerned, there is no doubt that the United States should put more restriction on gun ownership and use.
Due to events such as the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut on December 2012 where 20 year old Adam Lanza killed his mother, six staff members, twenty-eight elementary students, and himself in the end, Gun control regulation is more controversial than ever (Barron, 1). People on one side of the gun-control debate, known as gun control activists, feel that all gun carrying should be banned at the highest government level. They also want to place a ban all new gun purchases as they feel the weapons will eventually end up the hands of criminals. Gun control supporters feel that firearms are not essential to our current American civilization. On the other hand people who are in opposition to gun control, known as pro-gun activists,
People assume that preventing people from buying and owning firearms reduce crimes, when the fact is gun control is not always good for communities and it does not lower the amount of violent crimes caused by firearms and weapons in society. The right to own firearms and weapons as an individual has been an issue for a while, and it dates back all to the creation of the Constitution. As a Second Amendment right, many Americans believe that citizens should have access to firearms, as well as the right to own firearms. Many other Americans disagree due to the amount of suicides, shootings, and other crimes that occur including firearms. People’s ability to gain firearms and weapons can be a concern to society,
Guns have been around for several hundreds of years. Many people in well-known major historical events and battles have used guns for security and self-defense. In current times people tend to think that guns are the problem with society, when it’s actually the people who the guns are sold to causing the problems. Guns are by far one of the greatest things that mankind have ever invented. They have been a main source of self-safety for a long time. If the government takes guns away from its people then they are infringing on our 2nd amendment right. Whether or not we should have stricter laws on gun control have been a problem with congress has been a debate topic for a long time. The government should not be able to invade our rights and take guns away from its people.
Today's generation, guns have been a huge threat to Americans, and America answers by gun control. From well-known shootings such Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting and Colorado movie theater shooting, we as Americans are no longer safe at school, movie theater, and pretty much everywhere else. Our joie de vivre is terrorized by people who own guns such as gun buyers, criminals, and rednecks. These are the same people who say that we should not limit gun control and everyone should have a gun, they are not entirely wrong. Well, guns don't kill people, people do, there's a whole lot of evidence proving the statement.
Gun control is a complicated situation that has been debated for centuries. Gun control has affected our country in positive and negative ways. Many argue gun control is needed, but others believe it is a problem that should be banned.
Lately, there has been uproar about gun control due to the gun violence and crimes throughout America recently. People who rely on the law that protects them are more often affected than those who oppose it for their own explanatory reasons. To keep civilians safe, gun control was made into laws/policies that regulate the manufacture, sales, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms by the citizens themselves. Though it may seem, these laws aren’t being held to a higher standard causing disruption to the chaotic peace within the states. This will therefore incline the government to have different ways of justifying gun control to make a safer environment for its own people.
