Gun violence has been an outgoing social issue that has only gotten worse through the passing of the years. School shootings has become a common factor of the abuse of gun violence. Throughout the years, many young innocent lives have been taken away from a misuse of firearms. For instance, there is the Sandy Hook and Uvalde school shootings where innocent children on a normal day of school their lives were taken away. In both mass shooting about a total of 48 victims’ lives were taken away (Chappell.) This further proves that gun violence has jeopardized school safety and public places where a child or an adult should feel safe are not and have impacted the life of many and also has changed the perspective in how society views the world. …show more content…

The background check would evaluate their mental health, if they fail the test ii would mean that they would not be able to purchase a gun because they can put their lives and others lives in danger. But it also would mean that they have no good intention of bearing an arm and are influenced by acts of violence like revenge or hatred toward someone. This would not put an end to gun violence, but it can be the start to a challenging road in not letting gun violence overrule society. I also suggested that the age of obtaining a gun should be raised, for instance, there was a new regulation of the proper age cigarettes should be sold at, before the age was 18 but now is 21. This could be a new regulation the government can implement for the age a gun can be purchased. The age of 18 is a young age to legally own an arm because some youths have just graduated high school and have the wrong idea of a gun and do not have the resources to understand the responsibility and the danger of owning a firearm. There are many solutions for this problem but the way the U.S is created makes it difficult to work together and put a stop to it. For example, the President of the United States has recently passed a regulation that may help with the increasement of gun violence, but it is up to each state to really enforce those regulations. That regulation consists of increasing the number of background checks conducted before firearm sales, moving the U.S. as close to universal background checks as possible without additional legislation (White House). But there has a been a great emphasis on how mental health can contribute to the misuse of guns, that is why it is important to do a background check that includes mental health because if that person is not capable of bearing an arm, then a firearm should not be sold to that person. There can be a solution toward gun violence, but it depends in how each state implements regulations and if there are more contributions on organizations that work together on informing society over the importance and the consequences of bearing a
