Mobile phones Did you know that the first mobile phone only weighed a kilogram and people only were able to communicate with someone for 15 minutes! Mobile phones are used by many people in order to receive their own private phone calls. They have become very common in developing parts of the world, but in some countries people use mobile phones differently. People who live in a developed country are dependent on their phone because nowadays phones have incredible features which are beneficial for the users. First of all, the phone converts the users voice into an electrical signal which will then be transferred by radio waves. It is then converted back into sound by the users friend/spouse. Mobile phones have to be portable by having small antennas and a small use of power. This states that mobile phones can only send a signal over a short distance. However, the cellular network gives the users the capability to communicate with their friend/spouse over a longer period of time no matter how far they are. This is possible by dividing the land into hexagonal areas.
