Studies across the United States show that millions of children under the age of 14 use Facebook, using a fake identity. There is a reason why Facebook has an age limit, because everyone in the world can post what we can see, and what we don’t see. Inappropriate material including violence, menacing messages, and sexual images can appear on the screen for six year olds. A reasonable solution of this case suggested by Dr. Rosen, a professor of psychology at California State University states a tech break, in which can help teachers and parents help students increase their attention span. “Educators should start by picking a 15-minute block of time in which students must put away their phones and focus.” Says Dr.Rosen.
Many students would state that social media is just a form of communication but social media take a form of addiction, cause health issues and even pose a serious danger to the life of an individual. To begin with, many users become addictive and more isolated from social media. Clearly many students would view that social media as a harmless form of communication. However, most teens spend too much time on it, finding the perfect ‘picture ‘ to post.,
These are especially concerns for children and young teens. On the other hand, others say that social media can help a person connect with others and meet new friends that have much in common. Forbye, social media causes problems with parents and correlates with sex of younger ages. Social Media should definitely not be used by people under the age of 18. Social media can become dangerous, but is also true that it can develop personalities and help teens learn to interact with others that they do not know well, enhancing their social interaction skills.
Social media is one thing that people all over the world use constantly everyone is posting, liking, sharing, and commenting on others post. Many people see it as a good thing for people, but there is a dark side to social media. Social media can be helpful however, it is more harmful to teens. The article “ Student Examines Negative Effects of Social Media on Teens” by Aurelie Krakowsky is about who teens are being badly affected by social media and the people using it. The second article “The Upside of Selfies: Social Media isn’t all bad for Kids” by Kelly Wallace is about who social media can help teens and there problems around the world for teens”.
It is really popular to change your username by deleting a letter on your name or last name to make it impossible for universities to find you. This happens because teenagers are scared they will get to be judged or criticized by their posts and their way of living. In some jobs, people search for you in Facebook and see your interactions with people and your posts, with that they make the final decision. At the end, you post things not because you want, but to please everyone who sees your
Conversely, some feel that kids and teens should be allowed to use social media because its their way of connecting with others. For example, as stated in ‘The impact of social media on social skills,’ “Social media sites provide children with the opportunity to stay connected to friends and family, make new friends, share pictures and exchange ideas.” This evidence is nonsensical because making friends online isn 't always safe. What if the person on the other end is a pedophile in disguise, and next thing you know they plan to meet up in real life without their parents permission, leading to the child being kidnapped. To further prove the opposing claim is wrong, ‘Social media is dangerous for teens,’ states, “A study was done to prove to parents that their teenagers were actually just as stupid as we all think they are…Without fail, every single teenage girl came out of the house and jumped into the van.” This aforementioned quote indicates that teens don’t realize the dangerous situations they put themselves in. They’re young, so they don’t have the simplest logic, and think that they’re safe from child predators, so nothing bad will happen to them as they see happening on the news.
ouglass Rushkoff’s documentary, “Generation Like (2014)” explores the connection between mighty corporations and the teenagers who are haste to promote what they “like” on social media. Similar to his documentary “Merchants of Cool (2001),” in which Rushkoff emphasize a hide and seek game between Music Television (MTV) and teenagers. Rushkoff talked to the youth and teens across the country about how their wish to identify with what is popular, by, for example, “liking” the Hunger Game film series Facebook page or retweeting messages from Trident’s brand can turn into profit for those companies. “Generation Like” purpose is to sheds light on the rapidly changing advertising and marketing industry and the phenomenon of teens being marketed to online — while sometimes, unknowingly becoming the marketers. Given the technical language used in the film, Rushkoff’s is directing his message to a youthful and mature audience in order to provide some enlightenment.
The cartoon displayed what would happen if the colonies did not bond together and because of that, was very successful. As time goes on, political cartoons have turned into “memes” made by many young teens who do not try to relay important information, such as events going on in the government. When talking about politics and the government, it is common for personal emotions to be brought into the mix. An issue with emotions being involved with political discussion topics would be that things may change completely. A common example of this would be hearing a story from one source and have it be completely different than the next source.
