The United States of America has been through many wars, wars concerning many things such as land oil, pride and respect. However, when the United States went to war with Mexico, it was planned over greed. The Mexican- American war was a war provoked by the United States, in efforts to expand the coasts of the country. Mexico was a small underprivileged country who had previously to the war had already lost part of their country (Texas). Needless to say this war was cut throat and violent, it was however one of the smartest business decisions America has ever made. When some mexicans shifted to Mexico City they struggled to adapt. However later “A third of labor in Mexico City was made up of women, 82% of whom were indians or mestizas”(Vigil 136). Shifting from an hacienda to a city was very different for both females and males. However women could not believe that they could soon begin working as domestic workers as well. Such as being waitresses, food preparers, and street vendors. It was a change because back in their hacienda women were housemaids or would stay home and take care of house work. Although some women still struggled with being in the lower class and being in the city. They were stuck with doing forced labor with bad working conditions. The only way they would receive some kind of respect was midwifery. Centuries later women began to gain courage and stand up for what they believe in. Just like till now our courage keeps going, for example some women felt like wearing a bra should be an option and not a requirement. Therefore many women stood up for what they believed in and the point is that you have to fight for what you want and what you believe.
