and fearmongering. The “assault weapons ban” that some are trying to pass is essentially useless as the majority of attacks do not involve these types of rifles, also the weapons they are trying to ban are only aesthetically different than other rifles under the same ban. An assault weapon is also a made up term used to scare people. Anything could be an assault weapon, it would add a lot of credibility to the anti-gun argument if correct terms were used. Also most people talk about the magazine and call them “clips” which is incorrect. If people wish to make an argument they should learn the correct terminology. Gun crime has gone down in recent years and gun ownership has gone up. It is important to note that correlation is only evidence …show more content…
The pro-gun side needs to drop the good guy with a gun argument, yes it has been done before and a good guy has stopped a bad guy; however it is used as this saving grace when in reality most people do not fight when it comes to fight, flight or freeze, they run or freeze in place. The next large question is what to do now? The author of a cybersecurity article asks a very important question in this debate, they ask “How will the tensions and trade-offs between security and privacy be reconciled given the increase in terrorist and organized crime activity on the Internet?” (Camino 103). This is an important question because some individuals are not willing to trade any privacy for security, so will these individuals be forced into a relationship of tade-offs that they do not wish to have? There has been political talk but little action and this is seen in the policies that are created. Government officials lie about wanting to end the injustice that goes on but when policy arises for change it is shot down and never makes it through the house or senate. There is ways to fight back, however in recent months and the past year we have seen rioting. This is not a new practice of the citizens it has happened before, but rioting has taken place and
Gun Rights in America The Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights grants Americans the right to bear arms. Opinions of this vary, but I believe the safety of ourselves and posterity are above all. Criminals throughout the US take advantage of this privilege and use weapons for violence and evil purposes that should be unspeakable to our world, such as murder, robbery, and torture. Owning rifles or pistols ourselves is the only way to counter these treacheries.
Gun Laws There have been many cases of murder, robbery, and rape that could have been stopped if more places allowed carrying of guns. If carriers could take a gun to more places themselves there would be less crimes in those areas due to trained carriers being able to protect others. If the laws were to be greatly increased, fewer areas would allow carriers; giving criminals, who do not abide by gun laws and would acquire them illegally, more opportunities to commit crimes knowing the people are defenseless. With more, strict laws in place most people would be unable to get a gun to defend their homes and families, while criminals are still able to get guns through illegal activities.
When combining all of these factors of gun control laws, past and present, the result is not quite clear. While taking away all guns that contribute to violent crime would be brilliant on paper, it would limit the ability of citizens to protect themselves. Leaving many without proper means of home protection and subjected to violent crime. The absence of firearms in the hands of U.S. citizens could also cause an uproar across the country. The confusion, in regards to statistics and effectiveness of gun control laws, is due to the different interpretation of crime, which undoubtedly is due to prior bias by the interpreter.
When the criminal is finally arrested, there a dozens of people who have been killed, injured, or fatally injured. All because of one man with a gun. Do you really want your life to be at risk because there is no law banning assault weapons? Do you want to walk down the hallway in fear of someone coming at you with a gun? According to an article from the Washington Post, written by Christopher Ingraham, the president/founder of a public opinions research, the ban on assault weapons lapsed, or expired, in 2004.
Gun control is in the forefront of the national new stemming from the mass shootings at schools and public places across the United States. Concerns have been raised both by the public and our nation’s government about gun violence and creating more strict legislation. One of the measures looked at is the use of smart technologies to make guns safer. This call for smart technologies to be incorporated into firearms has a lack of consensus on both sides of the gun control issue making smart technologies a slowly researched and developed area. For this reason, smart gun technologies should not be incorporated into gun control legislation.
Assault weapons are dangerous to let citizens own them. Despite the danger, the government should not ban assault weapons. The danger isn’t the weapon, it’s the person wielding it. Some assault rifles hold 6 times the amount of pistols. Most pistols hold around 15-16 rounds, but an AR can hold around 30-100.
Gun Control: Assault Weapons Should be Banned in America In the past decade there have been many mass shootings which sparked a nationwide debate on the ban on assault weapons. Assault weapons are Semiautomatic weapons that are usually used in the military due to their advanced features. The difference between a Semiautomatic weapon and a regular pistol is that semiautomatic guns reload automatically and can fire consistently (Assault Weapons). Majority of Americans argue that Assault Weapons should be banned nationwide because of the amount of mass shootings caused by Assault weapons.
In 1994 the government placed a ban on 19 firearms that were categorized as assault weapons. This banned had the intention to reduce shootings and it did. Many people agreed to these this ban. Statistics show that “77% of the American people and 66% gun owners want to put a ban on Assault weapons (Alters). So the ban didn’t really argue on some people’s views.
Recent Mass shootings and political debates have sparked the country in a significant time for debate and change. There have been 125 mass shootings this year in 2023, about an average of one mass shooting a day. Guns are deeply ingrained in American society and the nation’s political debates. There is a huge debate going on in the United States right now. The debate focuses on the right to bear arms, guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the US Constitution, and the need for stricter regulations to prevent gun-related violence.
This makes us wonder why people can be so defensive over something like a gun that is so dangerous and has lead to a lot of deaths in the American society. Gun control is essential in our society today because it will help prevent unnecessary shootings and crime rate Gun control will play a major part in the decrease of the crime and murder rate. Therefore, in my point of view, guns should be totally controlled and regulated by the government. If gun ownership is controlled by the government, only a limited number of people will be allowed to own guns. In addition, the regulations will make it difficult for people to access guns unless they have a concrete reason as to why they need the weapon.
The Gun Control Debate In recent years, there’s not many topics on the political spectrum that aren’t absolutely polarizing. This essay will attempt to show each side’s generalized opinions, and find flaws in each of their arguments, as every ethical argument has flaws. Analyzing each side will help anyone understand their own opinions better, because without the demonization of the opposite party, ethics get much more difficult. Gun control is everywhere in the news right now, as three months into the year, the country has had12 school shootings in 2018. Exploring the ethics of gun control can get messy and emotional, but it’s important to understand all sides of a subject.
Gun laws This topic brings conflicts among us people in the United States. It’s been an issue for awhile now and it’s going to be an issue on into the future. Some people feel like it is their right to bear arms and have a deadly weapon for protection.
Gun Control Lately people have been using guns in a negative way and causing a bad effect on the world. People have been using guns inapropriatly and have been performing mass killings. If guns are being used by people then the people using them should know how to use them correctly, or not being a crazy lunatic. When I was 12 I was playing with a pistol and accidentally shot it, I wasn’t hurt and no one else was hurt but somebody could have been injured badly. Gun laws are the cause to a lot of the violent crimes in the united states and laws need to be changed so people can’t purchase guns as easily that way we aren’t in as much trouble.
Looking at the issue of gun rights, I am a firm believer that this right should strictly be a state issue. There are various factors that can play a great role in the culture of each state. Things such as population density, geography, morality, childhood, political status, and religion impact states and the way they function. If each state shared the same law related to gun rights, it would ultimately defeat the goal of allowing each state to create laws based on their culture, and would most likely become a federal law, limiting the right of some. Being born and raised in Wyoming, I see no issues with all citizens having the right to bear arms.
Even though they believe there is a need for some guns, they still think there are too many guns and some need to be banned. They insist on there being background
