Even though the birth control pill wasn’t very expensive before the mandate the cost did vary throughout insurance companies. With the insurance mandate to fully cover birth control cost women have one less thing to pay for. To some families that one less cost wouldn’t really make a difference, as for welfare recipients any little cost that is covered helps drastically. The third main benefit goes to family planning. This is huge because it incorporates everyone.
It prevents a woman’s ovaries from ovulating and thinning out the lining of the uterus. When women started using this pill, there were a few who ended up being pregnant because of the incorrect use of the pill. Watkins had wrote in her book, “Of course, it could not offer 100 percent protection; pregnancies did occur in women on the pill” (8). The pill needs to be taking once on a daily basis in order for it to be effective. According to Watkins, the pill is ninety-nine percent effective and was considered the most effective contraceptive method than any other method (8).
"In 2014, an estimated 926,240 abortions took place in the United States alone", (Guttmacher), which have nearly doubled into 2018. Now as abortion rates get higher and teens become more active, these rates will only get worst. But who say that abortions are bad, or even wrong? Over the years of being a Christian we all hear having sex before marriage is a sin and have adopting a baby is nearly death to for you or someone around you. Growing up Christians around me always tried to skew my thought to make adoption a reference of hell.
For instance, let’s say the mother goes through the nine months of being pregnant with the child and has the child. Of course, if the mother does not want the child for any reasons a woman would not want a child, it is understandable that the pregnancy may not completely be enjoyable for the mother due the trials it takes on to the human body. There is still a way that more happiness can come from the mother having the child. If the mother was to give up the child for adoption after having the baby, the greatest amount of happiness for the greatest number could occur, which is the entire goal of the Utilitarian thought process. So, the mother gives up the child for adoption and then a couple who possibly could not have a child could become parents.
When pregnant, nearly half of pregnancies turn out to be unplanned or abortions. (Fox). According to Maggie Fox, "A 2012 study of more than 9,000 women found that when women got no-cost birth control, the number of unplanned pregnancies and abortions fell between 62 and 78 percent" (Fox). The study that was shown, said that removing barriers is highly effective in birth control, (Fox). In the end, if birth control is free, the abortion rate will go down and unplanned pregnancies will slow
Most childhood vaccines are 90% to 99% effective in preventing disease” (“Vaccine Safety” para 2). It seems as if people dwell on the negative numbers they hear about vaccines when in reality there contains a large amount of research proving how effective and safe vaccines transpire. People refuse vaccinations not only for themselves but for their children as well. In the long run children get the short end of the stick.
There are many benefits to having Universal Healthcare, for instance, the stress of how you are going to afford a pregnancy, illness, disease, anything that may come about medical wise is not something to stress over with Universal Healthcare because tax dollars that all citizens pay for help aid in the cost. It is cheaper to afford things that may be unaffordable and stressful in America. Treatments can be more advanced in America, so you will sometimes see different countries come to America to get treatment, but most medicine is also more affordable because it does not have many different insurance companies and such that decide on the price. In other countries, the citizens are happier with healthcare reform, this is from a number
Women have given birth in hospitals for decades, but before hospitals were available children were born in houses; without the high-tech medical assistance offered today. The controversial subject of giving birth at a hospital or giving birth in a home is widely deliberated between women around the world. There are pros and cons for each side of the argument, but hospital birth has more beneficial pros and fewer cons than at home birth. It is said that an at home birth is just as safe as giving birth at the hospital. However, if anything were to happen, there would be no medical attention present to assist the mother or the baby.
Vaccines are good for society because they save lives, they save people time and money, and they are safe. The main reason that people get vaccinated is to save their life. Vaccines make whoever took it used to the disease, so that when it spreads, they won’t get affected. “Some diseases that once injured or killed thousands of children, have been eliminated completely and others are close to extinction– primarily due to safe and effective
There are studies that show that women who donate for financial reasons could possible regret their decision to donate afterwards. • Justice: Because of the current shortage of egg donors, the fertility treatments are subject to distributive injustice. Approximately 1.000 pregnancies per year are produced thanks to donor eggs, although there are many pregnancies that should be postponed until a donor becomes available. Women with higher financial possibilities are more likely to receive treatment with donated eggs than women of lower socio-economic levels, which leads to ethical conflicts. The injustice may also occur in the management of the needs, rights and obligations involved in egg donation.
The Bean Trees novel, written by Barbara Kingsolver is a novel that talks, particularly about the shared burden of Womanhood. The novel begins when a woman gives a female American Indian child to the protagonist of the story, Taylor Greer. Equality between women and men has been an issue around the globe for years. In some communities, women do have legal rights as many say, but many statistics have pointed out that men around the world have better access to education than women. According to women 's right activists, If discrimination begins, even before birth, very little change will happen.
“Thinkprogress reports, nearly two-thirds of American women say they want the pills OTC, and 30 percent who aren’t currently on the pill would consider going on it if this option was available”(Marcotte n.pag.). The location of birth control could possibly change the minds of people that have not considered birth control and it could change the people who already use it in a positive way. ”Contraception is the prevention of pregnancy. Contraception, or birth control, also allows couples to plan the timing of pregnancy. Some methods can also protect against infections”(“About Contraception” n.pag.).
Lupus is the fourth leading cause in disability for women. 38% of Lupus patient has been forced to stop working due to health complications from this disease. Patients spend roughly about $6,000 in treatments alone. It is unfortunate that this disease has taken a backseat when it comes to research priorities. Hopefully as time goes by, the attention towards gaining investment will increase before more of the population has to go through this disease that makes it unbearable for an individual to live their
Today more than four million American individuals rely on Title X and its services. Without Title X, over four million individuals will lost the affordable preventive health care they have. Doing away with Title X is also doing away with women 's rights, and a woman 's control over her own body. I know that many of you believe that doing away with federal funding for Planned Parenthood is for the best, but in actual reality it is probably one of the worst things you could do. Doing away with Title X would lead to more unintended pregnancies because women 's access to affordable birth control would be cut off.
