Since the brutal murders at Columbine High School in April 1999, the long, contentious debate over gun control has reached fever pitch and become a forum for the president and congressional allies to demonstrate "leadership." A plethora of new proposals regularly emanates from the White House to reflexive squawks of disapproval from gun owners and manufacturers and their allied organization.
