Research has shown that teenagers experience a change in their internal sleep clocks so that waking up early and going to sleep early are difficult. Teens have a hard time waking up early in the morning for school. When teens wake up early they do not absorb as much knowledge and skills as they do when they wake up later and more refreshed. Students tend to fall asleep in class when going to school early. Therefore, it takes time away from learning.
Kids that have activities outside of or after school, get home late enough, along with sometimes loads of homework, and don't get to bed until an unnecessary late time. People don't like having to get up early, even though the day ends shorter when it starts earlier, some people would maybe rather have it the other way around. Skimping on sleep days has become a bad habit for most American children. And for most school-aged kids, 10 and 1/2 hours is ideal. Most kids are going to bed at 10 p.m. or later on school nights making it harder to wake up in the morning let alone trying to stay awake in class, which is why we need to change the times kids need to get up in the morning and leave for school all around the world.
They were really tired. I than asked when they woke up they said 6:00. Than I asked them when they went to bed some said 12:00 and some said 11:00. This needs to stop. I think school should start later because kids are not focused enough in the morning.
Do kids really need to get up before daylight just to get to school on time? The answer is no. School should start later. Many people argue whether school start times should stay the same or become later in the day. Most students already don't get enough sleep during the night and that can affect their learning experience in school (Wahlstrom). However some positive effects can still come from waking up early in the morning and getting to school around the same time. Although good can come from waking up early in the morning and sleeping in, students still need later school starting times to improve their overall health. Teenagers need more time to sleep based on the development of their brains.
An example of this is that instead of my dad taking me to school, my mom is taking my brother and I. My brother doesn’t go very fast in the morning so it slows everything down. This shows that I have a higher chance of being late than before with my brother that is late getting up in the morning. One worry that gave me a lot of stress before, but has faded is getting lost or not knowing where to go next. This is because I have learned where all of my classes are and I am never alone in the halls.
Accordingly, by asking students to remain in classes for an extra two hours a day, school systems are requesting more devotion from teenagers who cannot focus for lengthy periods of time due to their developing brains. To complete the matter further, the excision of Fridays from the school schedule would also cause teenagers to lose precious hours of sleep. According to the National Sleep Foundation, teenagers require around 8 to 10 hours of sleep in order to function at full capacity; otherwise, they will not be productive in school (National Sleep Foundation n.d.). How can overscheduled teenagers attend sports practice or club meetings, finish all of their homework, and perform any family or job obligations in such a short period of time? Assuming a student arrives home from school and immediately begins to accomplish his list of tasks, he would have only three hours to do so if he were aiming to obtain the recommended levels of sleep.
Most kids wake up at around 6:00 a.m, because most schools start at about 7:30 a.m,which does not give a child the amount of sleep he or she needs. To add, attendance will improve because kids will be refreshed in the morning and won’t be so tired or lazy. Plus, kids are really tired and lazy, which is actually very dangerous, because if a teen 16 or older has to drive to school, they might be tired and get into a car accident. If the schools started later in the day absences would drop. Students being late is a big problem in their grades. Kids wake up early in the morning because sometimes their schools start early. When they wake up early in the morning their body still says that it is time to sleep. If we have classes that are later than kids will attend school more and get more sleep.

So many times I have gotten sick because I got up so early and it was cold so I got sick because I didn 't get enough sleep. This isn 't just me who suffer from this, every kid does. Teens need sleep to develop and to be healthy. I have gotten better grades in later classes then early classes because my brain is able to wake up.
