Recently I went on a trip to New York City, and during the 4 wonderful days I was there, I came to realize two different things: one, the town in which I live, Elkhart, Indiana is a very boring city. In NYC everybody is so alive, so full of life. Every corner there is something to do, whether its waste all of your money at Dave and Busters, or just enjoy a few street performers flipping over people. There is no way to be bored in NYC. When you’re in Elkhart, there is literally nothing to do. That is the reason that everybody hates it so much. Walking outside, all you see is drug dealers and corn fields. Secondly, a man stopped me in NYC and told me that Indiana has the highest number of KKK members. I am just going to assume that you probably know what the KKK is, so I will not waste my time and your time to explain. My point is, Indiana has a name, and it isn't a good name. Unfortunately, I can not fix the whole states bad name impression, but if I could leave an impact on not only Elkhart, but the whole county of Elkhart, and making it a better place to live, I will do anything I can. I am here today to propose a county wide block party, to help lighten the mood. Seeing that it is 2018, everything is competition …show more content…

Though another standpoint is Bailey’s, who didn’t consider the actions of the KKK to allow them to be called heroes or terrorists. He didn’t talk about all the lynching’s made famous by the KKK, but called their activities “tomfoolery”. (15) Finally, Norton goes into detail by saying that the leaders of the KKK “allowed factionalism along racial and class lines to undermine party unity.” (19) Norton describes more about the main reason as to why the KKK was created and the purpose of existing, which was to terrorize the freed slaves and to make the south the way it was before the
One of the reasons the confederate represents represents hate is that many hate-groups use it. Today, more than 500 extremist groups use the Confederate flag as one of their symbols, but the most known hate group that uses this flag is the KKK. The Ku Klux Klan’s predominant goal is to establish white supremacy in the south. Most of the KKK hate crimes target African-Americans, multiracial families, and interracial couples. The KKK also torched black churches and lynched mostly African-American people, or people that went against their beliefs.
The KKK killed so many people, the powerful government thinking that whites and blacks are not equal, the leaders only wanting white people in power, and how all 1st class men are in the KKK, the south could not have made it any more difficult to change their ways and their
Prohibition wasn’t the only source of social tension in the 1920’s. The Great migration of African Americans from the south countryside to the north cities, and the increase of black culture had embarrassed the white’s and it made them feel very uncomfortable about themselves. Because of this, millions of white people in different places like Indiana, and Illinois joined the KKK in the 1920’s. To them, they felt like this Klan helped them by killing the black people and going back to their own culture.
During the economic depression of the 1930s the Klan remained active on a small scale. The Klans rebuth in the 1920’s was very successful and progressive, though the Klan ran into some hurdles along the way they still achieved a lot of their bigotry goals. Until 1920 the klan exercised little influence. Then one night 1,500 men in white robes and masks came together in a valley in the hills above Oakland, California. “A fiery cross
It was during the 1920’s that the second Ku Klux Klan came to rise. This second group’s supreme leader was a dentist from the state of Texas named Hiram Evans,(Keith S. Herbert). At this time the KKK
Atlantic City was once the powerhouse of the east coast raking in tourists, large sums of money, and monopolizing the gambling industry. Nick Paumgarten wrote “The Death and Life of Atlantic City”, which states “The casino closures in Atlantic City have contributed to the loss of nearly 10,000 jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics” (102). Four out of the twelve casinos closed which contributed to 8,000 of those jobs. Three of the remaining casinos are currently facing bankruptcy which contributes to the other 2,000 people left jobless. The question Atlantic City is faced with a matter of needing more gambling or less?
I am writing at the moment from Virginia and I hope all my family is able to read my experienced in the colonial era. Migrating from Europe was difficult but I am able to witness so far the liberty to worship God and people who worked to promote the church. There are ways to preserve the identity as Christians without any state rule that prohibits personal beliefs. People are able to purify their life in God without anyone feeling persecuted or suppress because of negative consequences one can experienced. There is also land and the benefits of it are cash crop and able to better economically.
While the Ku Klux Klan of the 1860s and of the 1920s had certain similarities and differences, these groups represent a particular American virtue: intolerance. In my opinion, this intolerance promoted the formation of the Klan. Camouflaging these hateful and violent crimes and righteous intentions is ignorant and prevents progress. Change is what molds a country into a better one. While I feel as though the United States today is a large accomplishment in terms of progression, I believe that the Klan was an unnecessary feature toward the improvement of our country and American
The Ku Klux Klan first emerged in Pulaski, Tennessee following the Civil War. As we know today, the mere mention of the Klan triggers fear as the KKK is known for its various tactics of violence that came in the form if lynchings, murders, and mutilations. Following their emergence, the KKK were quickly symbolized and portrayed as the protectors of the South, following the defeat of the Southern states in the Civil War and the beginning of the period of Reconstruction by the federal government (Gurr, 1989, p. 132). During the 1920s, the KKK achieved its greatest political success and growth outside of the South. During this period, the membership of the Klan heavily expanded to the states of Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Oregon, to which the KKK obtained two to two and one-half million members at its apex.
The Ku Klux Klan or KKK has created centuries of fear. They originated in Pulaski, Tennessee. The famous hate group was out to re establish white supremacy. The KKK has influenced local governments and people in power. It has also had an impact on American people and specifically black minorities.
The analysis and finding of the Ku Klux Klan is that this extremist group is also associated as a hate group as time evolved with the definition of hate groups and todays extremist Christian groups. This data and finding has been accumulated from research of the origin of the Ku Klux Klan and their extreme actions in carrying out what they believed to be the right forum of saving America from those they identified as not being of American decent. Throughout history they have intimidated those whom are not so called pure white and their belief in racial superiority over all nationalities. These accounts have been verified though quantitative research approach though out history by historians.
Chicago is one of the most diverse cities in the Unites States. You can meet people from various cultures- but you have to know where to find them. Although Chicago is ethnically diverse, it is also very segregated. Communities tend to be ethnically divided and there are boundaries that isolate them from other groups.
