Please tell us about the particular life experiences, talents, commitments and/or interests you will bring specifically to our campus that will enrich our community, and why you are interested in the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
I will enrich the campus community by bringing diversity and different perspectives along with strong leadership characteristics and an unyielding academic drive, and I wish to be a part of this community to pursue my love for physics in University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s nationally ranked physics program.
My mothers raised me in a diverse environment and the background I carry will enrich the community by bringing diversity and alternative viewpoints to the campus. Through tours and exploring the UW-La Crosse

As a leader I strive to create inclusiveness and cohesive environments. For example, I have been a leader in a plethora of activities, but my proudest act of leadership is transforming my school’s art club. To provide context, I am the president of Lincoln Art Club, an organization run for the past forty years by students. Art Club participates in a yearly competition, Visual Arts Classic, and in previous years, students who did not compete felt Art Club closed its doors to them. That needed to be changed so I ran for Art Club president. Art Club grew from twelve Visual Arts Classic members to over thirty, active students within weeks. This was the result of me organizing an awareness stand in the cafeteria, along with the help of existing members where we passed out flyers which invited anyone to join. Art Club evolved into an inclusive organization because we went to classrooms, describing the club’s values and what it provided. We also personally talked to students about themselves and how to improve Art Club. The best feedback I heard came from a mother whose daughter came home and told her how happy she was that could finally join Art Club. In previous years, she was left out because she could not participate in the competition. Due to initiative and leadership, our tiny group grew into a large, all inclusive club, dedicated to art and the …show more content…
My passion for physics defines me and I need an institution that supports my ambitions and grows me as a physicist. When I toured the campus I spoke with Dr. Gubbi Sudhakaran, the chair of the physics department. Dr. Sudhakaran informed me that nationally recognized colleges and universities model their physics departments after UW-La Crosse. He then explained that the courses present intellectual rigor to mature students as scientists while professors at the same time provide friendly guiding hands in research and ultimately to graduate school. The students and faculty in the department form unbreakable friendships and connections which last passed graduation. Another thing I appreciate greatly is Dr. Sudhakaran speaking to each physics major before he or she registers for the next semester’s course to guarantee the student follows the appropriate educational path for themselves. An abundance of universities and colleges I toured possess wonderful physics departments, but none surpassed the one I experienced at UW- La Crosse. By far exemplary, UW-La Crosse’s physics department ultimately is the most substantial reason I wish to study at this
In this memo, I will introduce myself with my major, some of my background, why I am taking the English 341 course, and what I hope to get out of taking this course. In the Spring of 2012, I was admitted and enrolled in NMT for the study of physics with the astrophysics option. Recently, last semester, I dropped the astrophysics option and am now a general physics major primarily due to funding issues with the GI Bill. Prior to beginning my time at NMT, I served for nine years in the U.S. Army.
In addition, I recently graduated from Lakewood High School, a school where most of the student body is white. There is a very small group of students that are usually left behind, the English as a Second Language. That 's why I decided to create a club that gives the ESL community a safe place to ensure their academic success. I also have a personal connection to women who suffer because of economic hardships. I decided to join the Girls Leadership Council, hosted by the Colorado Women 's Foundation.
After completing his own education, he has continued to work towards improving student success in all fields of study. At UMBT, experimenting with redesigning courses proved successful in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, but the same results
As President of the club, I tripled the enrollment of the club from 5 members to 15 this year. The Club has been instilled in the St. Paul’s community and has prospered in events over the course of three years. The club’s semi-annual bagel sale to benefit charitable organizations, and the opportunity for Jewish students to unite at an Episcopalian school, will surely continue after I graduate. I am proud to have founded the Club. This is an example of how my passion has led me to take initiative and leadership roles to make my school a better place for all.
Being a Grade 8 Retreat leader was an amazing opportunity that I will continue to look back on with fondness throughout my life. The Retreat is an annual event that our school holds to help the Grade 8 students build friendships. I remembered my own grade 8 retreat as an influential part of my high school experience, so when I became old enough to become a leader, I jumped at the opportunity. Creating team posters and name tags were some of the more routine tasks that had to be completed before the retreat. However, the more rewarding aspect of the retreat was being able to bond with the children.
Ultimately, the website is trying to raise awareness and appreciation for the arts. This text plays a vital role in arts advocacy, seeing how it is the main source of information for raising awareness and providing leadership opportunities and connections for advocates. In this essay, I will include interviews I have conducted with stakeholders stating the pros and cons of the text, and will defend my argument of why I think this website is doing wonders for the arts. With that being said, I believe the Americans for the Arts website is effective because of it’s use of logos, ethos, pathos and rhetoric, it is easily accessible to its audience of stakeholders, and it is ultimately increasing awareness and appreciation for the
With this in mind, my greatest desire is to receive not only an outstanding technical education but also grow as a conscientious and socially responsible individual. In the next four years, I envision myself in an environment that fosters a genuine sense of family among motivated students. I want to belong to a school where I can develop in character as well as in my Catholic faith, even in the midst of rigorous academic work. I look forward to a career in applied sciences, with one foot in the laboratory and the other in the real world. I daydream about discovering creative avenues for positive change and inspiring others to innovate solutions for the complex challenges of our modern
I became the president of this club in 2015, and have continued to be selected as the president each year since. During my time as president of this club, many conflicts have arisen, and have taught me how important it is to communicate and be open to what others have to say. This could contribute to the Baird community by allowing me to reach out to others when they are in conflict in order to help them resolve it, along with helping me be open to constructive criticism to be able to grow. Another experience that I feel represents what the Baird community represents was when I volunteered for a year at my school as a teacher's aide in a special needs adaptive physical education class. In this class, I helped students with physical and mental disabilities learn how to overcome their
First, leaders need to respect the efforts of others in order to criticise them in an effective way, and secondly, when receiving criticism people need to respect that there are changes that need to be made in order to be better. Overall the marching band has taught me many lessons that I will carry with me throughout my life, and the three that stand out to me are having the ability to display positivity to help make it through anything, how to serve others as a leader and when it won’t be seen, and respecting things other than people, for example, the efforts of others and criticism. I consider these three lessons to all help build up my character, which was also greatly shaped by band, and will never be the
High school has provided me with many opportunities to develop and apply my leadership skills. One of my greatest achievements was becoming the Student Government President after serving as Student Government Vice President as a junior and as Class Vice President in 9th and 10th grades. As President, I have the responsibility of conducting Student Government meetings and planning a variety of activities. Through Student Government, I attended the annual Leadership Conference at SUNY Geneseo twice. I have also been a member of the National Honor Society since 10th grade and currently serve as secretary.
It was not an easy decision -- in Portugal, this implies starting undergraduate studies all over again -- but I am happy I made it. I finished the three-year B.Sc.\ degree as first of my class, and I am now on my first year of a Master's program. I chose the Nuclear and Particle Physics curriculum, so this year I am taking courses like Quantum Field Theory, General Relativity and Nuclear and Hadronic Models, to learn about the fundamental physical theories. My goal is not only to learn the theories, but also to be able to understand how these models intersect and where they become
QHSS places an emphasis on the sciences as a college-preparatory curriculum which can not only deepen my interest in science, but also provide me with a glimpse of college-level academics. I have taken Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, the core science courses. After my sophomore year of high school, I had fulfilled the required amount of credits for science. However, my enthusiasm and dedication to the subject encouraged me to take Advanced Placement Physics this year as a junior. Moreover, I plan to take Advanced
I will also lead a school that will embrace lifelong learning, promote the development of positive relationships among students, faculty, staff, and administrators, foster academic achievement, embrace diversity and respect for one another, adaptability, open communication, and life success. This community support is imperative. I will create equity among all stakeholders. To be successful, people must have a purpose within our organization.
Being a successful student at Grand Canyon University is important to me because the degree program I have chosen will be my life long goal. GCU faculties and staffs ensure they take pride in providing assistance in any area needed for a student to be
So, I decided to fight for students and take advantage of my position in student government to create change for student benefits and challenge the status quo in order to create an equitable campus community. Further, by communicating and working with different clubs such as International Student Association, Black Student Union, and Asian Pacific Islander Association, I have improved my communication skills to motivate other people to support the events and cultural acuity for our diverse student members. It has helped me build the skills needed to collaborate with other student leaders and the faculty through this project. I also realized that working together as a team is one of the most essential factors for a great
