I’ve always loved art. In grade school I would always tell everyone that art was my favorite subject when they asked. In middle school all of my electives were art oriented and I found myself observing artwork in a different way. Art wasn’t just pretty colors and shapes anymore, each piece provoked emotion and had meaning. Throughout high school I joined various art clubs. My favorite club I joined was Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), one glance at this title one wouldn’t think that this club had anything to do with art, but art and design were the main components of it. In this club I was the head designer and leader. I would use various programs like, Photoshop and Illustrator to create designs. The designs Ii created were then
Of my many volunteer and paid extra-curricular activities, the most important to me is the National Art Honor Society, which extends artistic activities to my community. We organize two school events: the Festival of Trees and the Talent Competition. The Festival of Trees is an event when every school club can choose to donate and decorate a tree that we set up. All of the money raised goes to an organization of our choice. For the last 4 years, we have donated to Street Grace, which benefits the fight against human trafficking, especially in the Metro Atlanta area.
Chicano art as 3 common themes - Immigration, geography and displacement. Taking an activist stance, artists illustrate the historical presence of Mexicans and native people in the Southwest, the abuse of undocumented immigrants, racial profiling, and the militarization of the border. “Many Chicano artists have focused on the dangers of the border, often using barbed wire as a direct metaphorical representation of the painful and contradictory experiences of Chicanos caught between two cultures”. (Chicana and Chicano Art. Jackson, Carlos Francisco)
When I was young I wasn’t necessarily interested in art, but what I was truly interested in was color. The way color was associated with an emotion: yellow is happy, blue is sad, red is angry. I wanted to know why these colors felt these things. I would paint over my dull uniform to try and feel the same thing the color felt, and would be sent to the office all covered in paint for disrupting the class or mocking the assignment. When you’re young no one listens.
Chicano art possesses a true aesthetic, mirroring a diverse and ever-changing Chicago reality. Today's Chicano art is multipurpose and multifaceted, social and psychological, American in character and universal in spirit. Chicago is considered as people's art movement, outside of museums and hierarchy, so it continues to establish radical or protest art. Since most Chicano artist continue to be rejected for the creative works due to cultural bias therefore, Chicano art does not appear in museums, alternatively motivating the tension between artists and art authority. Chicano art can be expressed as the experiences Chicanos went through by deciphering codes in images, signs, and symbols.
I visited the Portland Art Museum of Thursday the 22nd. RIght away, I noticed the architecture of the building. Primarily how the sections of the museum were very orderly, separated. It allowed me to be able to walk through each of the sections and look at almost all the of the art without getting lost. So, that is what I did.
Artwork is what gives our life much more flavor to it. Life without art would be dull, and lackluster. Everything would be so basic, bare, and simple. Creativity is what really makes artwork amazing. People really enjoy some artists artwork, and are very passionate about it.
Banksy is my favorite street artist. I think it is mostly because he can be so deep yet simultaneously so funny. That is a killer combination in my books. In case you are not familiar with Banksy, his works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world and he is known as the invisible man of graffiti art.
The spanish artist Pablo Picasso is one of the world 's most famous and well known artist of all times. From a very young age, Picasso knew his passion was to draw. He was not a good student in school, so at age thirteen he decided to drop out of school to spend more time drawing during the day, so he can doodle and work on his drawing skills. Pablo Picasso worked on different types of art forms such as painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and ceramic art. His top five famous works are The Weeping Woman, Guernica, Asleep, Nude Green Leaves and Bust, and finally Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.
For many majors at SCAD, Drawing 101 is a required class to take, as nearly all of visual art requires the hand to create convincing drawings to represent a vision, real or imaginary. My current major, animation, a field of study to which drawing is incredibly important. Drawing 101 not only teaches aspiring animators important technique and skills, but also gives students time to practice them. Each and every project and assignment is important to animation. First, I learned was how to draw faces in a couple of unusual ways: blind contour and continuous contour.
Introduction Visual and performing arts tend to act as separate entities within the field of education; considerably isolated from the majority of academia, these sectors are often considered to be secondary or elective options after completing primary education. The arts are an essential part of a well-rounded education, however, when an institute begins a budgeting process, the arts are rarely considered a top priority. For example, during periods of recession many public schools within the United Stated were forced to cut visual, performing and musical arts programs, despite studies that proved the exposure to the arts to be beneficial for students both academically and in extracurricular activities. Learning in an art-infused environment
Evidently, the art deco era conveys a particular sense of style which originated from the 1925 Exposition internationale des Arts Decoratifs et industreis Modernes in Paris. Art deco was highly influential during the twentieth century. Having such a significant debut in Paris left this style with a forever infamous name worldwide, seen in all angles of art, from fashion to architecture to society. Although becoming known between the two biggest World Wars (1920s-1960s), the art deco movement was not fully recognized until the sixties. With art deco styles being globally intuitive in visual communications and perform well in mass production, the culture of this particular style still influences and visible in fashion and design today.
Group project refection The artist that my group chose to do this project on was Pablo Picasso. We divided the work up with each one of us taking a part to focus on. The part that I chose to research was the overview of the Art movement that Pablo Picasso was a part of. I decided to look at this as reviewing Pablo Picasso’s many periods and what he was known for.
I have always been addicted to art. Not so much about the history, but creating it. I have the freedom to do or make anything I want, with no instructions. One of my favorite activities is painting. It is just me and the canvas, putting layers of paint on top of each other, seeing how they blend together to make a scene; most of the time it is beach themed because there is no better place than next to the water.
I love pen & ink, sketching, and conte' work. I like creating abstract art because I feel that each piece is unique. One has to spend some time to understand the idea behind it. I still need to work on my portrait skills, but I am sure if I continue to work under the guidance of experts, I will improve. My training in Mayfield Secondary School has inspired me to continue to work in Art and Design
They think studying liberal arts is a future of unemployment and uncertainty. But, it is important to override these belief because of the large opportunity for art majors in the world. My experiences as a child, influences, and mentors have inspired me to study art history at Belmont and I want to share my experiences and knowledge of my process. What drives you to study art and pursue a career in this impressive field?
