Art in Zebra
In the story of Zebra there is a lot of art being used when Zebra goes to the art class. In the story knowledge and empathy is used in many parts. Even in general, in order for people to reach their goals and create great art, they need empathy, knowledge, and with that comes inspiration.
People need knowledge in order to create great art because, people need to be smart through the process of creating great art. Some might say that people need to be creative for art, but people need knowledge in order to have good techniques. For example in the story of Zebra, the Mr. Wilson asked Zebra to go to his art class, “Adam, are you interested in art?...No...You ever try your hand at it… I made drawings for class. I don’t like it…Well just in case you change your mind I’m giving an art class in your school during the summer… I’m going to camp in August… There’s the big month of July…. I don’t think so.”(Potok 145)This quote demonstrates how Zebra didn’t like art because he needed knowledge, technique in order to

To make great art people need inspiration, for example Mr. WIlson was inspired by his old buddy, that’s how he got into art. Everyone needs a mentor. People might say that you don’t need inspiration because all you need is knowledge, that’s half true, you need knowledge to get your inspiration. might say that you don’t need inspiration because all you need is knowledge, that’s half true, you need knowledge to get your inspiration. Inspiration is linked with empathy. Inspiration is used by the author in this quote, ”Racing together over that landscape where a helicopter and a zebra… He was an old buddy of mine, an artist.”(Potok 159) Mr. Wilson talked about the great buddy of his which was his inspiration. Mr. WIlson’s friend brought him into art, Mr. Wilson had knowledge in order to earn that
To have confidence in one’s own abilities is key to rising up a corporate ladder. As a whole, the arts are largely ignored in the educational setting. The painting in Source A is from the Hudson
“Channel your struggles to win,” says Rick Springfield. That was his tip to success that he fully believes in. Beneath it all, the man behind the music has been struggling. It may not be evident during his performances and interviews but he has been fighting a disease for a long time. And he doesn’t plan on losing to it.
When I was young I wasn’t necessarily interested in art, but what I was truly interested in was color. The way color was associated with an emotion: yellow is happy, blue is sad, red is angry. I wanted to know why these colors felt these things. I would paint over my dull uniform to try and feel the same thing the color felt, and would be sent to the office all covered in paint for disrupting the class or mocking the assignment. When you’re young no one listens.
Art is the creative side of the mind releasing into a physical object that can inspire people and even its creator in ways that nothing else can. Therefore, creativity is to be used to fascinate others and bring others into the artist’s thoughts, patterns, and world. Alaina Fisher stands by this ideology by seeking to fulfill it within her works. Alaina Fisher seeks to bring fantasy into real life situations. Creativity is not something to be bottled up selfishly but to be expressed and shared with others.
I think Marian Bantjes’ work primarily falls under fine art rather than graphic design. The purpose of graphic designers is often to create visual symbols that convey a message simple enough for the common man to quickly understand. Rather than wanting individuals to interpret their own meaning from a piece of work, graphic designers are trying to communicate the same message to a wide variety of people. Bantjes’ goal does not seem to be the same as that of a graphic designer. When Bantjes works on a project, she thinks, “Who is it for, what does is say, and what does it do?”
But when you have creativity, you are able to solve the problems you are facing with your imaginable idea and turn it
Ken Robinson stated that: “imagination is the characteristic feature of human intelligence, creativity is the application of imagination, and innovation completes the process by utilizing critical judgement in the application of an idea”. (UNESCO 2006) The Arts and Culture provide socially valued activities, further people's thinking and contribute positively to their psychological and social well-being and enhance their sensitivity. It must be the case then that any art education programme will have to provide opportunities to interact with a range of historical, social and cultural perspectives and take into account the distinctive individualities of art itself. This suggests then that there are two ways in which art education can be taught,
He refers to Picasso’s statement that every child is born an artist (6:05). Robinson urges the crowd to rethink the strategies they use to educate the world. The speaker quotes that people do not grow into creativity but out of it or rather educated out of it. Robinson asserts that education
From the content of books to the songs on the radio, art serves to provide a reflection of the world. Behind every design, there are great chains connecting the art to the artist to the artist 's inspirations and so on as far as the eye can see. In Jonathan Lethem 's The Ecstasy of Influence: A Plagiarism, he emphasizes these unseen connections. "My search had led me from a movie, to a book, to a play, to a website, and back to a book." (Lethem 212).
"Do School's Kill Creativity" "My contention is all kids have tremendous talents. And we squander them, pretty ruthlessly" (Robinson, 02:57). Ken Robinson addresses the thought that creativity is just as important as literacy is in our schools and education. In his TEDtalk, the speaker Ken Robinson different ways in which we could change the way literacy is seen as more important than creativity and then make them equal. Robinson uses lots of different examples and stories to help convince his audience and help them understand the issues at hand.
In Yo-yo Ma’s writing, “Necessary Edges: Art, Empathy, and Education”, Ma discusses the importance of integrating arts in society and education; this differs from Rhys Southan’s writing, “Is Art a Waste of Time”, for it talks about how the “Effective Altruism” movement does not see art as valuable because it does not make major contributions to society. Art is a tool used to communicate with people; this tool positively impacts contemporary culture, for it brings different cultures closer together, changes opinions, and it is useful in education. Art is used all around the world to express culture. The art forms created by different cultures are shared with one another, and this creates subcultures and links cultures together.
If you're creative you're used to thinking outside the box and you're good at it
Creativity can be defined as the willingness to be courageous, adventurous, daring and to try new things. Creative people take risks and produce some of the best ideas. When designing and making, creative work is likely to bring about original knowledge which will incur risk taking. Innovation and risk taking are skills that are close together, everyone that knows it have to deal with creating something new everyday. Being creative does not only involve the study of art, which is how it has been perceived through the years.
