Before I enrolled at any university, I had objectives and a career path that I hope to follow. I also know that my goals will be met if I read certain courses. In the university, there are some characteristics that a professor may have that may push me to want a course from that professor. I have in my mind that if a school or a program in a particular school is accredited, therefore, all the courses will lead me to the right career path. I will choose and course in that university or that program over any other school or program. As a counseling student, accreditation is essential. Through Carey’s tactical use of organization and word choice, he is able to suggest his ideas to the audience without directly telling them. Carey’s audience is highly educated and he writes in such a way as to make them feel like they came to their own conclusion that is in congruence with his. Additionally, towards the end of his article Carey mentions some important ideas about accreditation and college legitimacy. After he transitions from discussing for-profit colleges, he writes that “traditional institutions have long resisted subjecting themselves to any objective measures of academic quality” (Carey). Again, Carey mentions this important claim at the end of a paragraph.
Husky says in the beginning of the video that transfer degrees are the main purpose of community college, which is untrue. With open admissions, many students who enter community college require developmental education, which is another curricular function outside of the transfer – liberal arts – curriculum. Along with developmental education, community colleges also orient their curriculum toward occupational education, adult learning, an community service. Although the transfer function is a large part of community college, it is not the sole curricular

Current textbooks would also mean that students would not have to worry about outdated information, or being wrong about an event that has changed since the publication date of
Technical colleges and accredited universities are different in many ways. They both offer two different styles of educational experiences, geared towards different needs and learning styles of the students who are enrolling in the programs (Freeman). They both also offer continuing education and degrees for a post-secondary student, but the courses offered and the experiences gained are vastly different (Freeman).
