CHAPTER 8: DISCUSSION Brunei Darussalam has only 1 grinding cement plan which is located in Muara. The plant is mainly owned by Butra Heidelberg company. Unfortunately, Brunei doesn’t produce their own raw material, hence Butra has to brought cement raw material from other country Such as clinker from japan and gypsum from Thailand. The imported material and the transportation cost can affect the cement price. 8.1 Hardware stores As states in table x under section x, Hardware stores in Brunei sells their cement product with different prices. The prices are depending on some factors, the factors are • Distance- The further the hardware shops the higher the price due to the transportation cost. The revenue of cement that is sold have to cover …show more content…
Fly ash is unburned residue that is carried away from the burning zone in boiler by flue gases. It is collected by either electrostatic precipitator or mechanical. In other word, it is known as a byproduct burning Pulverized coal. The process is made in an electrical generating station. Fly ash is used as SCM in production of OPC concrete. From the Graph, it shows the comparison of OPC and mixture of OPC and PFA strength in a concrete. Both of the strength increase throughout the 56 days and the final result shows that OPC + PFA has slightly higher strength than just OPC. VSL supply the lowest number of concrete because the company’s main business is Post tensioning work and pre-cast concrete. 8.3 Environment Cement production in Brunei has contribute environment related problem emissions. These emissions can lead to problem such as air pollution, sound pollution and global warming. Fortunately, Brunei only has 1 grinding plant, this means less area to focus and to trained to make an environmental-friendly practice. BHC has a programmed that help to minimize impact of cement to the environment and for improvement. The program helps the company to practice a number of aspect such as to comply with relevant environmental legal requirement and to reduce dust emission and noise pollution. BC also has been using paper bags which is more environmentally friendly than normal cement bag. BHC also …show more content…
Brunei Darussalam has only one grinding plant which is located in Muara. Although Cement industry is not Brunei main source of income but cement has become one of the important material for construction in Brunei. Most cement in Brunei is provided by BHC. In the beginning of 2017, EIDPMO has made an announcement that the existing cement import quota had been officially demolished. The new policy offers an open market to public, construction and other sectors. Cement distributor all over Brunei are now had been given the opportunity to import all types of cement from any importers, the main reason is to increase the construction activities in Brunei. This open market will give a result to a cheaper cement price which gives chance for local producer to expand. Other than that, the production of BC has not been constant where it has experience large amount of fallen and rises. As there is no export production held (cement are bought direct from local market), it gives prosperities of the local construction sector only. The main reason is the slowing down of the company itself. This prove that the sector only depends on government
In the immediate aftermath of the planes crashing into the Twin Towers, the city became known as a dust city. The WTC was reduced to billions of tons of dust—aerosolized particles composed of building materials that included heavy metals, asbestos and mineral fibers, along with byproducts
He provides data of historic prices of goods such as LED televisions and oil and compares the price to after the industry was monopolized. Will covers the issues of outsourcing and monopolies to persuade readers into believing that the wealth gap allows for industries to have flexible prices on their goods making them more affordable for the average income
“A painting showing an early factory plant shows that the smoke rising from the factory was black and full of coal ashes, affecting the air. Also, because the factory is next to water, it can be assumed that the factory has dumped into this water, causing it also to become polluted”(Document 3). Yes, wonderful products came from these factories; things like clothing and cars, but coal was being used to power these machines that produced. Black coal ash rose up into the sky and was being breathed in by the people and animals. Coal is not the best thing for people’s lungs.
It used up a lot of coal that was burned in a firebox to heat it and get the steam running so it starts
(Prices are what they are currently and prices (therefore the purchasing power of money) are the same in states A and B.) A. You have 2 weeks of vacation; others have 1 week. B: You have 4 weeks of vacation; others have 8 weeks. ”(Solnick 378)
This industry not only provides the populous with inexpensive power but also creates a steady employment option. Besides an increase in the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, the mass accumulation of coal ash and its leaks and spills into local rivers negatively affect the environment (“Energy-Related”). According to Earthjustice, “North Carolina generates over 5.5 million tons of ash per year” ("Coal Ash Contaminates”). In Eden, N.C. in 2014, the largest coal ash spill occurred, releasing 39,000 tons into the Dan River, which supplies drinking water to surrounding communities, a habitat for aquatic organisms, and recreational activities (Gallucci). Coal ash, also known as coal combustion residuals or CCRs, contains hazardous byproducts from power production, including arsenic, lead, mercury, and chromium, that can poison drinking water sources for humans and devastate wildlife habitats (“Coal Ash Basics”).
This drastic change occurred because of variable and fixed costs. Due to these costs, sales decline in small percentages which affect a more significant decline in profit. Furthermore, incurred cost within Home Depot is broken down into two different types. These two different types are variable costs and fixed costs.
Once IKEA decided to start up its business in Brunei, it definitely will incur a huge amount of initial cost. This is due to the reason that it requires capital, such as raw materials, human resources and so forth, to produce goods and services. Hence, it needs to obtain a large sum of finance resources in order to support its business. According to The Richest in the World (n.d.), Brunei was ranked at the fifth place for the richest countries in the world. Therefore, it is appropriate for IKEA to develop its business in Brunei.
Companies should think about less polluting products and production processes for
The further scope of this study is that it can help how to understand how the recession has affected the construction industry in various other aspects. More primary data which are real time can be collected from the various organisations all over the country which will help in the further analysis of the impact that the recession has had. By collecting more primary data more indicators can be included in the study which will help take the study the
In the case of hotels, suppliers create different consumer segments, we can relate to them as lower-end consumers, and higher-end consumers. Obviously, hotels cannot set the price that higher-end consumers are willing to pay, because all lower-end consumers will not be able to afford the good. Inversely, if hotels set the price that lower-end consumers are willing to pay, higher-end consumers gain huge consumer surplus, thus lowering the profit for the suppliers. In order to take the consumer surplus, hotels keep lower prices for some rooms in order to target lower-end consumers and offer some higher quality rooms (for example presidential suits) to target higher-end consumers. The difference in revenues providing different rooms and the same ones is seen below.
1.3 explain how to use resources effectively and efficiently Without effective resources an organisation wouldn’t be able to do the job effectively for example, in my organisation we need to have care assistance to care for every individual which in turn need to be trained to do the job correctly, if we didn’t have a resource in place to cover the training needs we wouldn’t be able to function and care for our service users, this also means we need to have a budget of what we can spend on training, staff are also an important resource as we need to make sure we have enough employees to cover each shifts. There are many ways to use resources efficiently and to minimise and adverse impact on the environment. These include how we organise work activities and the use of resources efficiently understanding their impact on the environment, and finding ways to reduce their negative, and increase their positive impact. For example, by being mindful of waste and extravagance by recycling waste materials, by reusing packaging materials, by using double-sided printing
Eco friendly building material is those provide the appropriate service and lifetime, with the minimal maintenance, while minimizing the decimation the raw of material, the pollution from, and also energy consumption by production and use, and that have the maximum potential for the reuse. The use of the Eco friendly building materials and products are represents one important strategy in the design of a building. In addition, the Eco friendly building materials have benefits to the building users such as improved health and the productivity, in order to change the spatial configurations of the lower costs associated, reduced maintenance costs over the life of the building and so forth.
