Assignment On The Rhetorical Triangle
ENG 112-805K: Writing Research in the Discipline has helped me gain more insight into writing.
Eng 112 has changed my perception and thinking about writing. Writing is a skill and writing in any discipline has its own rules and guidelines. The assignment on The Rhetorical Triangle is an eye opener. Researching on the Rhetorical triangle and its relevance in writing led me to discover the 3 important elements in writing, which is the Lagos (presentation of facts), Ethos (proving one’s credibility to their audience through information) and Patho (the importance of connecting with your audience emotionally).In my writing for the course I tried to incorporate these 3 factors into them.
Specific skills and knowledge gained in ENG 112.I have come to appreciate writing in APA and MLA format. I did have some basic knowledge in writing in both APA and MLA format, but ENG 112 has helped me gained more depth in these areas. The first assignment on MLA basic document setup was very helpful. Am now able to set my paper in the correct format. Also the assignment on writing in science vs business writing and writing in science vs humanities has enlightened me on the differences in writing and citing in MLA vs APA. For example, the source page for MLA is called work cited and APA references. For in-text citation MLA uses the last name of the author and the page

One of my goals during this course was to gain a better understanding in this subject and avoid plagiarism in every aspect of writing. The assignment on plagiarism taught me a lot. Before, I did not know paraphrasing was considered a form of plagiarism. Throughout this course I have worked hard to give credit to writers, authors and every source of my information in my writings. I believe I have improved in this area. I might not be 100% there but this course has helped me to achieve this
