While Jose and Jorge are identical twins, their lives could not have been any more different. They have different health determinants to their unfortunate diseases that differ from each other. The case study of Jorge and Jose emphasizes the idea that your zip code determines your health more than your genetic code. Just a quick reminder, Jose is the twin who grew up in a largely improvised family, while Jorge is the twin who grew up in an upper-middle-class family. Since both brothers have asthma it can be assumed that the brothers have asthma in their genetics, however, needed to be triggered. Asthma has a significant impact on society, affecting over 6 million children under the age of 18 in the United States alone. Reasonable ways to control this disease are medications such as inhalers and spirometry to test the strength of your lungs. There is a myriad factor from environmental constraints, physical and the one built by humans is noted as a major factor affecting the development of asthma. Indoor air pollution is the most common form of air pollution, along with first-hand and second-hand smoking. Air pollution is often greater in lower socioeconomic neighborhoods with mold and cockroach infestations and access to medical care. PrEP is also famous from stopping HIV from taking hold and spreading throughout your body. It is highly effective for patients with HIV, however, they must take their medicine consistently. Nevertheless, the average HIV patient can live their lives long and successfully, this is all coming from research made to help defeat HIV.
