Astronomers Using ESO's Telescope have found the biggest and hottest double star that have parts actually overlapping each other. These two stars in the system VFTS 352 might be pummeling to its demise soon, because the two stars could merge and create a colossal star, or form a double black hole. These two stars are about 160,000 light-years from Earth. These stars are so close that the surface of each star are overlapping each other. This double star has a total mass of about fifty-seven times bigger than the Sun, but it also has the hottest surface temperatures rising above 40,000 degrees Celsius. Astronomers predict that this double star will end in a tragic demise in one of two outcomes. One possible result that could happen
What Mr. Larson went through to find out about the star seemed to be very stressful to him and I’m shocked he still tried to find out more and more about the star. Mr. Larson made the documentary very impactful to the audience and myself, but he also gave strong evidence about his argument with the uses of ethos, logos, and pathos. In the use of ethos, Mr. Larson uses this with his expression with religion. The way he expresses his information, is through the Bible and how the Bible explains the finding of the star.
“Our stance is not against science. It’s not against the [telescope] itself, It’s against their choice of place,” Lanakila Managauil argued. The Thirty-Meter Telescope, or TMT, is planned to be built on top of Mauna Kea and is going to be used for space research (TMT.org). But, Native Hawaiians protested this telescope being built for many suitable reasons. This telescope should not be built because of the excessive funds, telescopes have already been built on the mountain, and Mauna Kea is sacred land to the Native Hawaiians.
Hawaii's Telescope Controversy Rising more than 6 miles from the seabed floor, Mauna Kea is the tallest summit in the world. To native Hawaiians, the dormant volcano is the most sacred land in the entire Pacific. Considered a temple and a house of worship, native Hawaiians believed the gods created Mauna Kea for them to ascend to the heavens. To scientists, the mountaintop is the best location in the world to observe the stars and study the origins of our universe.
The Fort Ancients have left a star studded mystory for us to solve, unsure if it’s a comet tribute, was casued by an impact, or was just made to track the stars. Only more time and searching will tell. I can say one thing for sure in this mess of theories, I’m adding this site to my list of places to visit this summer. It’s so close to home and has so much wonder. I would love to get to see it up close and
pronouns along with the strengths and weaknesses that I possess. In the “Annotated Bibliography: Film Studies and Video Production”, I included the format for an annotated bibliography with the MLA 8th edition citation before the summary paragraph, rhetorical analysis, and genre analysis. In the “Astronomy Discourse Community Examination”, I incorporated interview responses about the 6 aspects of a discourse community into my essay; I included personal experiences and knowledge of the Astronomy discourse community from my interviewee and also included their credibility to the discourse community. When researching for scholarly reviewed article on film, I used the University Library research browser to find academic journals; at first I had done research on magazine articles about Netflix Original Series “Luke Cage”. Later, I realized that these were not fitting for this assignment, I returned to the University Library search base and searched for academic articles
Copious amounts of people adore the idea of fate being in the stars. That fate is as set in stone just as how the constellations and other stars will always be in the night sky. Stars will die out eventually and be empty
but massive stars, die allot quicker because they burn massive amounts of nuclear fuel. Stars are giant nuclear reactors. In the center of stars, atoms are taken apart by allot of atomic collisions that change the atomic structure this then release allot of energy. This makes the stars’ super hot and bright. They may have a big mass but they use up allot of there energy quickly.
How does one go about defining things as good and bad? Some things can be good and bad at the same time, like using satellites and computers to solve ecological problems. There are a lot of pros and cons but the cons outweigh the pros because the images will need validation, one can’t trust in a satellite and computer to give all the answers, and time isn’t exactly on their side. Validation has to come from somewhere to make sure the images that are looked at can be trusted. “Without proper validation, satellite data should not be taken at face value.”
The stars shine bright on the vast stage of the galaxy. The awe-inspiring constellations have shifted and torn, casting stars light-years from their position, giving each a dancing partner. Each star compliments their companion and each shine brighter than they could have alone. The stars twinkle softly and watch me watching them. I wish to teach them, for I have lived a long, prosperous life and I know I can teach them so much.
The poem “Telescope” by Louise Glück suggests that looking through telescope can provide a new perspective that can change the way the world can be viewed. Exploring the world in a new way can change the way a person thinks and can affect the way he or she views life. In the poem “Telescope” Glück uses the metaphor telescope to describe a new state of mind that is developed when looking through a telescope. The metaphor in the poem “Telescope” suggest that looking through a physical object, a telescope you see the stars and get a different perspective on the way the world is today. With that being said, the other made a shift in the poem to redirect the readers in a sense that looking through a telescope in everyday life can allow a person
Did you know that Annie Cannon was able to classify around a thousand stars a day during the peak of her career? This paper will be focusing on the life, career, and legacy of Annie Jump Cannon. Annie Jump Cannon was hired by Edward Pickering, and she worked as “Pickering’s assistant at the Harvard College Observatory” (1). After that, she was credited with coming up with an easy system that divided the stars into seven spectral classes. The spectral classes were as follows: O, B, A, F, G, K, M. Annie Jump Cannon’s career ended after forty years, but her work paved the way for women in the scientific community and continues to inspire fellow female scientists.
This could also be a reason people confused the North Star with the dog star. Around 2004 astronomers found a LBV 1806-20, which they believed was the brightest star, this took there mind off of Polaris (North Star) being the brightest star. This star is approximately 5-40 million times as bright as the sun. Astronomers estimated that this star was more than a million times the mass of the sun, but since this star is so bright is will burn out quickly within a million years.
Advertisements can get old very quickly; they are usually repetitive, boring, and a waste of everyone’s time. People are getting better at ignoring advertisement, but occasionally, some brilliant advisement can be stuck in one’s head. One advertisement for Orion Telescopes was particularly interesting. With just three images, the moon, the American flag, and the Made in China on the flag, it captured the capability of their product and added an ironic twist at the end. The simplistic design, the clear message, and the interesting layout works great together to promote their telescope, and intrigue their American consumer.
Canis Major, The Great Dog, loyally follows and protects the mythical hunter across the winter sky on the edge of the galaxy. At the big dog’s neck (or, as some cultures show it, at the nose) is what appears to be the brightest star in the entire sky, Sirius. But this brilliant beacon is actually a close pair of two. The tiny second star is sometimes called “The Pup.” In ancient Egypt, Sirius was the basis of the calendar that foretold the time of the annual floods.
For many years, it has been believed and scientifically proven that only the planet Earth can sustain life. And without it, we’ll no longer have a place to call home. However, with the Earth’s drastic condition - climate change, greenhouse gases, depletion of the ozone layer, and etc.- the astronomers have been searching for a planet that can save us from the ultimate fate of the Earth- and to also prove that we are not alone. Thus, after long years of research, we have found Kepler-452b. Here is a gist of what has been discovered about Kepler-452b:
