A physical therapist is a professional that specializes in preventing injury and promoting proper body mechanics. This holistic approach is what attracted me to this field of study, as my impact
Therapists know what each of their clients have to do to fix their personal physical problems, they are specialists, not generic clinic workers. They appeal to each person individually and don’t follow a basic set of procedures and hope that it works for everyone. They work with each patient according to their specific need. Physical Therapists in sports not only help athletes physically, but mentally and emotionally because of the built relationship between the athlete and therapist. When an athlete is injured their world ends.
For this to happen, the coach must take into account the danger of the sport and his/her philosophy must reflect this i.e. time and effort must be sacrificed to ensure the athlete understands each movement and an interest must be taken in the athlete’s nutrition and wellbeing in order to prevent injury or illness. A boxing coach must address the fact that an autocratic (authoritarian, rigid, somewhat dominating) style of coaching may be the most suitable, especially in the case of inexperienced and young athletes. This is because without precise and measured movements and training drills, an amateur could get seriously injured. Bodo et al.

This was an opportunity I said yes to as I was eager to learn more about how it was to coach this group. One of the reasons I was so eager to work with people with a disability was because I had little to no knowledge and wanted to learn. I wanted to learn what the motivational factors to do exercise was for this group, how I as a coach can help and what the best ways to get them to take part was. Rescent research (Youngdeok, Jaehoon, Fuller and Minsoo, 2015; Martin and Whalen, 2014; Mirsafian, 2016) suggests that coaches and coaching for people with disabilities have been lacking and it is important for sports organisations to educate coaches for this specifically as there is a need of coaching and systematic interventions in the development of disability physical activity. District sports run a great number of schemes for different groups of disabled people around the Hampshire area and are actively working to develop and widen the opportunities for this group to take part in physical
When I add up the years from primary school to graduate school and include work-related certification courses along with classes of personal interest, I have been a “formal” student for over 35 of my 46 years. After hearing this some may think that I enjoy learning, but truthfully learning is not something I have always valued. As a college student, I transferred schools and changed majors multiple times before withdrawing a semester and a half from graduating to get married. Then six months after getting married, my wife asked what I planned on doing for a living. I really did not have a plan, but knowing it would be advantageous for me to find a career, I decided to do what every former aviation/general business student opts to do.
“Ow! My knee! I think I need to go see a physical therapist.” This is an example of one of the many reasons people go to see a certified physical therapist. “Physical Therapists, sometimes called PTs, help injured or ill people improve their movement and manage their pain” (Bureau 1). They design plans that can be help patients recover from various injuries, also a PT must promote the health of their patients (United 1).
